From the beginning, the Cellars-Hohenort went above and beyond for us. The staff, management and property are exceptional. Nestled at the base of Table Mountain, this property offered a quite reprieve from the hustle and bustle of Cape Town. Breakfast was delicious with a variety of dishes being offered and a continental spread available for starters. We will definitely come back and stay at this lovely hotel!

This was our second time staying at the Cellars. This was a very disappointing visit this time around. The staff (front desk) were cold and not helpful). The GM didn't seem to care on the issues that we brought up. They have no accountability. They didn't even attempted to offer any retribution to make us happy and satisfied. NOTHING!! The room that they put is in was the worst room my husband and I have ever stayed at. The room decor didn't follow the normal Liz McGrath collection. It felt more like a staff quarter or a cheap motel room. There was no luggage rack in the room. The Pringles that was in the mini bar was already open. They didn't have a bottle opener so we couldn't open the drinks that were on the mini bar. When we finally brought it up with the young lady at the front desk the following day, she was shocked. She apologized but did not offer any resolution until another lady offered to replace it. My husband and I had dinner and the restaurant manager walked by and decided to approach the table behind us and completely ignored us as if we didn't exist. I've decided that he approached them because they were dressed nicely. It was very rude and we felt discriminated. Overall, poor customer service. Staff weren't friendly. Horrible experience and will NEVER stay here again.

I had an unfortunate incident with a waiter at breakfast and I wanted to report the waiter to the general manger of the hotel. I called reception but was told the manager was not on duty that day and she will call me back when she returns. It’s a week now I haven’t heard from her. This despite the letter authored by the general manager that we found in the room inviting us to call her if we needed any assistance We were a group of 13 guests. We had requested set menus for dinner. During our 3 day stay the chef never changed the menu. We ate the same food in each of the 3 dinners Everyone in our group was underwhelmed by the hotel particularly because their rates were way above market rate

Stunning property with spectacular views and gardens. Service was excellent from the moment we arrived. The pictures do not do this Hotel justice…absolutely gorgeous grounds. I took pictures every day I was there because the property was so beautiful. Our room was beautiful with very tasteful decor. Lovely outdoor patio and fountains. Restaurant experience was consistently 5 Star. Great service and delicious meals. Drinks and wine selection were great. 15-20 minute drive into the heart of the city but well worth it if you have a car. Places you in a beautiful and lush area. Would highly recommend during a stay in Cape Town.

Insane property. Best hotel I’ve stayed at in years. Worth the flight from the USA for this hotel alone.

The hotel has absolutely stunning interiors and beautiful elevated garden views from the restaurant. 10/10 for the hotel interiors and also for the beautiful manicured gardens. Dinner at The Conservatory was great. The staff try very hard to provide good service and are friendly and courteous, but we found that there was sometimes confusion at reception and the spa staff, and sometimes inaccurate information was provided. A special mention must go to Lisa at the restaurant - it is our second encounter with her (we have visited the restaurant a few times previously) and she was delightful and accommodating on both occasions that we encountered her. I had a massage and the massage itself was absolutely first class, so well done to the masseusse on her technique. Unfortunately the spa is being renovated, which I was not aware of at the time of booking my package, and this somewhat takes away from the 5 star escape that one looks forward to when doing a staycation. The minibar is complimentary, unless you refill, which is a great value add. One element which took away from the experience is that the bathroom, which appeared fresh from an aesthetics perspective, did not have a fresh smell, which both my husband and I found very noticeable. However, since we were only there for a night, we did not raise this as we didn't want the inconvenience of someone coming in to clean, or switching rooms as we had already settled in so we bore with this, but this aspect was not pleasant. Many thanks to the staff for welcoming us.
