South Causey Inn

We arranged and held my daughter’s wedding in the Old Barn on 30.12.24, Lauren was our wedding co-ordinator on the day. I cannot fault any of the staff, especially the receptionist and Lauren, or the accommodation- having stayed at the Hen House the night before and in the Courtyard on the day of the wedding. Lauren was absolutely fantastic, nothing was too much trouble she ensured that the whole family were able to be accommodated with their particular needs. Everything went without a hitch, the venue was spectacular, the food fantastic - the portions were huge, piping hot and really tasty. The accommodation immaculate, well presented and lots of extras provided. Breakfast in the hen house was provided as a “take away”, both hot sandwiches, continental and refreshments. On the 31st, breakfast could not be faulted - you could have as much or as little as you wanted - I wouldn’t hesitate to re-visit, stay again and recommend South Causey as a wedding venue and Lauren as a 5* wedding co-ordinator- Thank you for making our daughters special day extra special - The Richardson’s

Overpriced £18 for a cheeseburger and chips in a two inch square basket with 2 onion rings. 1 Large coke and and one small coke and a glass of tap water £7.60 . So to top it off I was in as large group and tried to pay for my family of three at the reception bar for the steak and 2 cheeseburgers and told to go and work at the price myself! I even had to ask for the menu to calculate the price she could put in the till for the card machine. Food was of an ok standard nothing special. Never experienced front of house staff like it. I thought they were supposed to tell me the cost not do their job.

Very disappointing Xmas Mamma Mia brunch. Breakfast served at 2pm we all were served different on our table. Some had 2 sausages others had 1, We had tomatoes missing it was all very mixed and a strange choice to serve at Xmas?! The 2 cocktails were disgusting we had to ask what they were!! To top it off it was only 2 members of ‘Abba’ and pictures of the other 2 behind them!! For £45 it wasn’t worth it and we won’t be rushing back!!!!

Wedding at the Causey Wedding event

Room 10 - AVOID if Over 5'9". Do not stay in room 10 if you expect to stand up whilst you shower. My partner had to shower on his knees; he's around 6'1" so not overly tall and I'd say this would be the case for anyone over 5'9". Similarly, his feet hung out the bottom of the bed which significantly impacted upon his sleep. In addition, the door to reception is next to the room which bangs each time someone goes through. We suggested to the reception staff that it needs to be slow closing and they said they're aware of this due to previous complaints but haven't actioned anything. Why, I don't know. Finally, we had to use the body wash as hand wash and keep moving it from the shower to the sink which I've never had to do, apparently this is acceptable and the reception staff did not understand why this was an issue. We were also told that "there's a first for everything" when we explained about the shower issue. I do not believe that this is the first time this issue has been raised because most couples would have the same problem. I understand they are unable to change the shower due to the structure of the room but guests should be told upon booking and have the option to request a different room. This review would have had a different tone if the customer service had been better when we feedback at checkout but we did not feel it was acknowledged or that anything would be rectified.

We went tonight for food and as I am normally underwhelmed eating out, I needed to leave an excellent review. As soon as we arrived, we were greeted at reception and went to the bar for a few drinks first. The service was brilliant and drinks were good quality. We then went to the restaurant and the service and food were outstanding. I was overwhelmed with our amazing service, Evie had amazing wine pouring skills I have normally only seen in top restaurants out of the U.K. service was prompt but not intrusive. Lewis also deserves a mention for his amazing clearing skills, I was totally impressed at everyone’s lovely manners, great service and highly recommended food! Thank you
