Holiday Inn Express & Suites Columbus - Worthington

This hotel was average I'd say, modern decor, friendly staff. The pool- the main reason we booked this hotel was because we had to leave the last hotel due to that hotel renting half of its pool out for swim lessons and not informing guests. So, our main reason for changing hotels was so the kids could swim- but this was only possible for a short while because this pool was FREEEEZING. Like Titanic Iceberg freezing. We were not able to swim long at all, and my kids were once again bummed. I was not able to go in with them- I went in up to my knees and tried to adjust and I couldn't do it. Rooms were nice, bed was hard though. Pillows nice, and the room had a Keurig coffee maker. Breakfast the next morning was decent, the pancake maker was a big hit, and the bottles of chocolate milk and the hash brown patties were also a fav.

I've stayed at Worthington hotels periodically over the past ten years, most often at the Doubletree on Hutchinson Avenue. It recently changed management (I believe) so I started looking for alternatives. Right next door to the Doubletree is the Holiday Inn Express. I stayed there this month and believe I will not return to the Doubletree. Nothing egregious about the Doubletree, but the amenities there - and its safety and sanitation issues - don't measure up to what I've experienced at the Holiday Inn Express. The Express costs roughly the same as the Doubletree, but the Doubletree charges its non-Gold members about $15 for a breakfast that I found to be hardly worth the price. The Express offers a complimentary self-serve breakfast (true, the Doubletree offers a chef-prepared omelet, which is not available at the Express); and for families what the Express offers really meets my expectations. There's even a pancake maker, in addition to hot egg options that make up for the lack of a $15 per person chef. In all other respects, I found the Express as good if not superior to what I've experienced in the area. There's a decent indoor pool and fitness center, the elevators worked well, the hallways were clean as was my room. The room was significantly more spacious than any I've had at the Doubletree (which I am inclined to use because I generate a lot of Hilton points). I'm not sure IHG, the parent chain for the Express, has mid-level customers like me in mind, as their point system falls short, in my view, when compared with Hilton's loyalty program. Perhaps what triggered the change was the change in local management at the Doubletree, where I found dirty and slippery floors, trash in outdoor containers overflowing the barrels, and rooms that clearly have aged past their prime. It's true that there's a bar at the Doubletree (though it closes at 9 pm); but there are bars across the parking lot (a dive bar, Slapsy Maxie’s and a bar at a video/pinball game parlor), so walking a short block for a nightcap is as likely at the Express as it is at the Doubletree.

The customer service I received from Noah at this hotel far exceeded what I expected and I should know as I have been in the business for over 20 years. As soon as I checked in he recognized that when I travel with my family I like an extra pillow and asked if I needed one and later went back and got it along with the sheets I asked about for the pull out in case there were none in the closet. The next evening I asked for recommendations for a good local pizza places and he gave me several and told me where they were located and approximately how long they took to deliver and which one was his favorite and we all decided to go with his choice and believe we made the right decision as it was delicious. If I could have a whole Front Desk staff of Noah's I don't think I would have to do a thing which was totally surprising in this day and age with young people not wanting to work. The only down sides were the breakfast was mediocre, typical continental breakfast with a couple of hot items thrown in, the pool was really cold - which I mentioned to Noah and he seemed surprised, and the inside of the elevator looked like it was never touched. The outside of the elevator was all shinny with no fingerprints or marks but the inside looked like the walls were never cleaned and the floor never mopped. This really stood out as the rest of the hotel looked immaculate.

We chose this hotel because it was close to the event we were in town for. A great choice. The breakfast was good, the pool area was clean and stocked with plenty of towels and the staff were super friendly. The room was clean and well appointed.

This three year old hotel looks a lot older. A number of stains in the hallways. Our room’s rug had a large burn in the carpet. That would have been acceptable if the bathroom wasn’t absolutely filthy. The floor looked as if it had been mopped with a very dirty mop, streaks of dirt all over. The toilet had a rim of grime around it on the floor. The sink had grime around the rim. It made me wonder what was hidden throughout the room. Gross! The breakfast was a bad experience. We didn’t see a lot of guests in the breakfast area, but the staff was unable to keep up with refilling the food and coffee. The coffee urn was empty for at least fifteen minutes. Likewise, the breakfast egg entree was empty. When refilled, it had six items! Overall, a big disappointment.

Best Hotel Stays EVER! I am in love with this hotel, STAFF, and highly recommend it. I have stayed here 1 year over the three years since it opened in 2020. MANAGER DAVID CONLEY, Assistant Managers Crystal and now Mariah, front desk staff BRANDI, LEE, NOAH & ALL STAFF, including HOTEL CLEANING AND PROFESSIONAL STAFF LOVE TO SERVE and are AMAZING!!!!! BRAND NEW BEAUTIFUL, VERY COMFORTABLE, QUIET, PLEASANT, RELAXING HOTEL IN BEAUTIFULL WORTHINGTON/COLUMBUS AREA. VERY DESIREABLE AREA WITH SHOPPING, ENTERTAINMENT, RECREATION AND EVERYTHING YOU MIGHT WANT. BREAKFAST SERVED. SWIMMING POOL, WORKOUT ROOM! HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

David Conley, the 4 years general manager of this beautiful, new, spacious, serene, comfortable, pleasant, ideally located hotel with swimming pool and breakfast is AMAZING!!! And so is his staff, most of whom have been here with him since he opened this hotel in early 2020! I was one of the first guests at this BEAUTIFUL, PEACEFULL AND RELAXING HOTEL in 2020 when the Corono virus erupted and got to know the staff, DAVE and the hotel well!!!!! I stayed about 3 to 6 months as I was looking for a place to stay long term during the pandemic. Dave and all the staff, Mariah, the Assistant manager, Lee the night guest services employee, Brandi, the well experienced hotel receptionist in the afternoon and evenings, and all the excellent housekeeping staff, are dedicated and love to serve and that is why they do this workl!!!!!!! The hotel is new and very very pleasing. The food is great and plentiful and the location in Worthington and Columbus cannot be beat!!! I have fallen in love with this hotel and will stay here whenever I am in Columbus!!!!!! There is a beautiful swimming pool and workout room, lots of excellent resturants and entertainment and shopping nearby as well. You will sleep and relax well. All of the guests are wonderful too, relaxed and pleasant. I highly recommend this hotel!!!! You will be pleased!!!!

Nice brand new hotel very convenient to the interstate. We arrived late and left early, so didn't get a chance to explore the area, but there seems to be plenty of shopping and restaurants nearby. The room was nice, on the small side but still felt spacious thanks to the modern/minimalist room design with lots of lighting. Shower only - no bathtub - good to know if you have little kids. Our room was clean and everything worked, but for a hotel that was only open a few months there was a surprising amount of wear and tear. Breakfast was typical for Holiday Inn Express with plenty of seating. Only complaint was the parking lot. This hotel allows large trucks, but doesn't provide proper truck parking so they fill up the lot taking 5-6 spaces each. If you arrive late, you might be parking at the hotel next door.

This is a beautiful,new, sleek ,and affordable hotel in a beautiful location, Worthington Ohio. Quiet, restfull. Swimming pool. Workout room!!! What makes this hotel truly DIVINE is that all the staff and management CARE and truly Love to serve!!!! From Dave Conally, the kind, experienced and proficient manager, to Crystal, hardworking, reliable, caring and proficent, who has also managed hotels herself to all who work here. They all love to serve and do so beautifully. I was here for about 6 months when COVID broke out, and now I am back again for probably around three months in between apartments, and I appreciate them even more NOW because I see how clearly they all love to serve and what a truly divine job they do at it. You would be truly blessed to stay here!!!!!! I know that I am and I am very grateful that I get another chance to stay long term at this beautiful, clean and fresh, bright and cheerful, comfortable hotel!!! BRAVO IHG HOLIDAY INN!!! ANother winner in the hospitality indstry!!!!
