Comfort Inn South Chesterfield - Colonial Heights

The man checking people in was rude and unprofessional! When i first went in he was not even at the front and i had time to walk up and down the dirty hallways and decided that i did not feel too good about this place. After watching him be rude to a trucker that was asking a question, then to a lady and her child i decided that i did not want to stay. Did not even get to the rooms but if the smelly dirty hallway was any indication then i am glad i went down the street to the country Inn.

Wow! We were welcomed like long lost Friends or Family with a wonderful smile upon the receptionist face... I believe her name was Samy... I have no complaints! The Wife and I enjoyed our stay and I can honestly sayThe Comfort Inn was "Comforting"

This Comfort Inn did not disappoint!! Really nice and clean hotel as well as the room. We had absolutely no issues!! Everyone was so friendly with smiles on their faces and made us feel welcomed. Breakfast was usual as expected but clean and always attended

This hotel was disgusting. I do not understand how any normal person would right a good review. There were roaches on the floor and the walls. I was offered another room with no guarantee of no bugs. I checked out with a refund. I called the Candlewood Suites next door and got a room there. It was 10 times nicer than the Comfort Inn and CLEAN!

This place is dumpy looking. Most things were old and worn out. I think this is basically a trucker’s type hotel. I saw afterwards it’s listed on a map as an “informal Comfort Inn”. Informal is right. The girl at the front desk was hard to understand finally she had to write on a piece of paper because my husband and I could not understand her. I had requested a handicap accessible room with two beds near the elevator and she ga e us a room at the end of the hall. She finally accommodated us (sort of). The room was clean but old. Won’t stay here again.

I’ll keep it simple. The good…. The price is reasonable compared to other hotels. The room was spacious and clean and the bed was comfortable. Even my wife said she slept well and she gripes about everything. The breakfast was good but nothing beyond normal. The bad…. It’s a non smoking hotel and my room reeked of smoke. We brought it to the attention of the front desk and we’re basically told too bad. No offer of a different room, no discount….. just deal with swollen sinuses. The parking is abysmal. There is a shared lot with a gas station on one side and a McDonald’s on the other. Last good thing, it was the quietest place I’ve ever stayed.

I recently stayed for three nights starting on Thanksgiving. When I first arrived, the front desk lady (young Indian woman - sorry forgot her name) gave me a bad impression. The door to the lobby was locked. Once the door opened, the front desk lady shouted "use your key." I responded, I don't have a key. I'm checking in. She didn't apologize, but I let it go. Interestingly, there was a sign on the wall stating the door is locked between 10pm and 6am. Use your key. I arrived at 11am. Moreover, I booked a handicap room. While checking in, she rhetorically stated "do you really need a handicap room?" I felt like she was mocking me as I thought this ignorant and insensitive to say. She preceded with speaking to me in a condescending way and made me feel unwelcomed. I kept my composure as I arrived after a long drive. I just wanted to rest. I even saw how she interacted with other guests. Her rude self does not need to work at the front desk anywhere. Aside from that, the room was fine. It was spacious and clean. The bed and plentiful of pillows were comfortable. The bathroom had a nice amount of towels, face rags etc. There was a stain in the carpet, but it was no big deal to me. I was not expecting a 5 stars hotel room. The air heat/AC worked fine. The cleaning lady I saw seemed nice. She even checked the next morning to see if I needed service. I did not any of the 3 nights that I stayed, but I left her a tip anyway when I checked out. The free breakfast was minimal. Nothing major. I don't eat meat, so it was very minimal for me. Potatoes would have been nice to go with my waffles and fruit. But, hey. To be free, I think it was light and decent. There was an infrequent train that came near by, but it was no big deal. I never used the gym. I cannot comment on that. I do think the hotel is in a decent location. There are some food spots around and I liked that the gas station is right there. That made it convenient to fill up before I got back on the road. I do think the nightly rate was perhaps 20 dollars more than it should be. The room was fine, but barely worth the charge. Would I stay at this hotel again? Yes as I enjoyed the room stay. I just hope to not run into the Indian front desk woman that was there. She is the reason my rating dropped for this location. She even watched the guests as they ate the free breakfast. Just creepy.

This place is a dump. I don't know what my travel companions paid for the room but anything over $80 is too much. No pool or hot tub, pull out sofa bed had stained, thin mattress and a lack of bedding. The luggage cart barely held together with wires.

Stayed 2022/09/16-09/20. 10-15 minutes to Petersburg National Battlefield Park, Fort Lee, groceries, an hour or so to Spotsvylvania/Wilderness/Chancellorsville/Fredericksburg parks. Safe/secure (Richmond and Petersburg can be dodgy - long term economic challenges for both, dating back decades). Plenty of parking. Friendly/communicative staff all around. Fitness room had anything I needed.
