Breakfast good and excellent toast...none of that nasty thin bread, this was thick, warm and easy to butter (for a change). Need background music in the breakfast room Although obviously refurbished don't expect the Hilton, it's an old style pub in a norder town

Booked a family room for me and my two teenage daughters, room was spacious and directly above the main entrance, lots of traffic noise as people seem to zoom past during the early hours. Saturday night and was told that children could not be in the downstairs area after 7pm so we had to stay in our room for the rest of the night! Extremely loud music till 2.30am people outside the main entrance arguing, shouting at 2.30am. Definitely NOT family friendly and seems they like to accommodate the locals more than the guests. Breakfast was good

Stayed here for 4 nights. And to say the room was poorly cleaned is an understatement. Behind the bed had never been cleaned and neither had lampshade on the drawers. Kettle was dirty on the outside. The carpet was very badly stained and the rug was curled up so much that it was a trip hazard. Shower didn’t work properly and was dripping everywhere. On our last full day there nobody cleaned our room at all! When we first arrived the lady we dealt with was lovely and chatty but the gentleman never spoke. Weekend breakfast staff were lovely and attentive. Monday and Tuesday was owner/manager gentleman and he barely said a word to us. All in all a very poor stay for us. Definitely not worth £80 a night.

I was slightly dubious of booking here given the wide range of reviews, but it's... fine. Got in at 9ish on a Friday night with a disturbingly loud Meatloaf tribute going on in the bar. Was booked in and my room was about as far away as possible from the bar, which was good. Room was clean on the surface, but obviously not deep cleaned in quite some time - look behingd anything and it's covered in dust, as is the towel rail. Bedding and towels all spotless. Comfy enough bed. It was noisy. From the street where the yoof were doing yoofy things until late, and the plumbing. Do everyone a favour; if you don't need to use water in the evening, please don't. Noise of the pipes drowned out the sound of the TV. Wifi was available, but not on the second floor as the routers there weren't hooked up properly. Breaky was good (tomatos tinned, not fresh, for those that care). For the money, good value.

Only one beer on hand pump but very nice and good value food. Good varied menu. Plenty of seating areas to choose from. Friendly staff. Only let down by the lack of real ale. Popped in for a Saturday lunch while visiting the area. A few places to choose from in Coleford.

Had a super lunch on a very cold and wet day. I had the liver bacon and onions with mash and lovely vegetables it was presented beautifully and delicious, also a large portion. Good service and friendly atmosphere. I would definitely visit again.

Bed was lovely, we slept very well apart from fan in bathroom which was very loud. All the staff were friendly and so helpful, nothing too much trouble for anyone. Personally, i didn't like the pre order for breakfast, but breakfast was very good when we got it.

I'd like to say the staff are fantastic always happy to help. Didn't enjoy my first and only ever visit as I found the landlord a drunk rude and how he speaks to new customers and staff disrespectful and always got he's hands on the till not away to run a business

Reading the mixed reviews of the Angel from over the years we took the chance and were very pleasantly surprised. Not only is the hotel steeped in history, there are tales of hauntings and supernatural happenings, the room was lovely and warm, the welcome from everyone we met from cleaning staff to manager was really good, friendly and chatty - owners even spent time including us in their pool tournament. Food was very good but weee only serving breakfast, evening meals looked well priced with a good selection. Free parking is fairly close to the hotel but not owned or exclusive to it. We are looking forward to a return trip and was well worth the stay.
