Elegant Old Hotel very well kept with fantastic views, a pleasure to stay there here but know what your getting into. The Hotel itself is beautiful old classic with lots of Brass and glass. Spotless and clean, warm with fantastic views. The only dings were, no Bell Hop service. I have a physical walking problem but had to be my own BellMan. Getting the cart, loading it and pushing and pulling via a very small evevator to the lower level and down long hallways with a few turns to make it to my room. The other drawback was the stairs and amount of distance you have to walk to get to your room, depending on which section of the hotel your in. I was very fortunate to have the Promenade deck with a view of the pool. King size bed was slightly firm but comfy with lots of small throw pillows. Even a small chandlier, how quaint. If you like old charm then this is the place for you. The room draw back was No refrige or coffee pot in the room. Also when I checked on time mind your our room was not ready and we had to wait 45 minutes. This was ok we because it was a georgeous day and we sat on the deck having drinks, taking in the fantastic views of the docks and river, very relaxing. The dining room is oh so elegant with the same fantasitic view. We did have breakfast, unfortunatly the food is just so - so with a mid to high price, Your paying for the room and view mostly. The service was fine all staff where welcoming and attentive. All in all I enjoyed the hotel and would stay here again but you have to know what your getting into.
The location is only 20 minutes from sandy hook island and long branch beach, and it is convenient to drive. The hotel is very clean, the front desk and staff are friendly and welcoming, and overall feel comfortable. There is a happy hour in the bar in the afternoon, and the snacks are very affordable. The floor-to-ceiling glass and sea view of the room and restaurant is very good, very bright and refreshing!
As with many Marriott properties, this example has been updated and refreshed. Everything I need for a business trip is here including The Bistro where I can choose healthy meals ( or not :) . Also as is true with every Marriott property I have visited around the country, the staff is professional and very pleasant. The consistency of customer service is remarkable.

While this is a basic motel with few amenities, the overall experience was positive. The accommodations and cleanliness were fine. The really outstanding aspect was the welcoming and quality staff. We were greeted and treated really well! Kudos to them!

This hotel is impeccable, the only issue is the entire hotel stinks Like weed to the point its nauseating. And I usually don't hate the smell, but overkill here. They take such pride in this hotel I can't believe they'd allow it. If I was the manager I'd kick anyone smoking out. There's balconies that can be used in each room to smoke on. The hotel is really really beautiful like a boutique hotel. Great breakfast as well.

I switched to this hotel for a weekend business trip at the last minute from one down the street, and I am SO GLAD I did. This property has an amazing staff (Shout out to Kyla and Gigi... you two are AWESOME!) and it's super clean. Everything was in good repair during my stay. There was a little wear on the piping around the front of the couch cushions if I'm nit picking, but the room was spotless, the bed was comfortable and the HVAC was just right. If I had to change one thing, I would like a slightly larger fridge, but the small fridge that was there kept everything super cold to the point that it almost froze. The first night I was there, I had a couple of drinks in the lobby bar, and I talked to Kyla and Gigi. They are nice people and I had a great time hanging out with them. Then next night when I returned from work, they were at the front desk, and as I walked in they both lit up and said my name! That kind of personal relationship is hard to forge at your regular Wawa, I definitely didn't expect it at a hotel I was staying at for 3 days. It honestly made my trip. This attitude extended to the rest of the staff as well. You couldn't walk in or out without the front desk staff or manager greeting you, and the maintenance staff said ”Good morning!” if you passed them in the hallway. Even the guests seemed friendly, greeting each other in the halls. All around good vibe, and I will definitely stay here again next year.
My family and I stayed over Labor day weekend- one night to attend a family wedding. We took one of the most expensive rooms- a suite- because we were 4 in a room and all the other rooms had been taken by the bridal party and other travelers. When we arrived the elevator was out our entire stay. We had to walk up and down the stairs in our dresses and high heels. Although we took a suite and the hotel was aware how many people were staying in the room there were pillows, blankets and towels for only 2 people. They brought up more when we called the hotel desk. This was just not what we expected when taking an expensive room. The fact it was Labor Day weekend is no excuse. They appear to have been short staffed because I tried to speak to a manager and none were around. I was told to call back to see if they would make an accommodation on the room rate. I called the managers several times and there isn't even an answering machine. They simply never pick up. I wrote several emails to Holiday Inn Corporate and also received no response. The hotel itself is clean enough. The suite is decent enough if they stock it properly. But there is a lack of help and if you encounter a situation as I did you won't get satisfaction. I think this has soured me on Holiday Inn.
