I had the privilege to stay for a couple of night at the Riverview motel and it was a fantastic service by Dave (David). He was very professional and I can tell he's a people person and proud to serve anyone that walk into his office. Fortunately for me David upgrade me into a big room with a king size bed and spaces for one person. I enjoy my two nights staying there and would recommend this motel to anyone visiting Whanganui.
We're definitely not youthful but felt very much at home in Braemar House. We stayed in the B and B, finding it very comfortable, quiet, and with lovely touches - fluffy bathrobes and towels, a door onto the verandah, quiet, chocolates on the pillow, a basin in the room with bathroom across the hall - so many caring things. The shared kitchen is very well stocked with tools and pots, very clean and all we needed to prepare a meal. Calvyn and Alice are the nicest of hosts, very helpful and cheerful. We'll be back, and in the meantime are telling others about it. There is a wonderful cafe around the corner - The Yellow House. Great coffee and meals.
The location is easy to find, I accidentally found that the store is Chinese, the manager is very good, knows that we need to cook, help us upgrade for free, a big motel, the facilities for children are complete, but the shower equipment is a little old, overall it is good

Excellent motel. Graeme was very friendly on arrival. The milk was fresh and appreciated. The 2 bed unit only has a small icebox but that was ample space. The beds were all comfortable, slight traffic noise but given its on a main road to be expected. The lounge sofa, chairs all adequate and comfortable. The tv was fine, possibly better heating as 1 heater wasn't enough with the concrete walls and high ceiling. The cleaners left outside the door clean towels, facecloths, teatowels, loo paper the next and took away the rubbish. Well looked after rooms, super clean, and we were pleased with our stay.
Fantastic motel! We were celebrating a years hard work with all our staff & their partners, so we booked 12 rooms. Kasia was lovely to deal with, nothing was a problem to organize for her, she is very accommodating. The motel is modern and very clean. All our staff were very impressed - no complaints! We woukd definitely stay here again and recommend. We had breakfast at the cafe next door which was super handy & very good.
This hotel was found while googling good hotels in Whanganui. Unfortunately the review did not match what we received. We paid top $200 for each night we stayed. Two nights. Top premium price for Whanganui. Staff some were friendly and some were not and we seemed to be imposing on them. Very little information given about the place or facilities. We did not know check out time, we did not know that they had a restaurant on site, and that they did breakfast, or even that they had a pool. Breakfast was a complete let down. Very expensive for the lack of variety, and the food was cold, overcooked (eggs)/hash browns etc) Surely all of this information should be communicated and if not, they should have some paperwork in our room that we can read. We stayed in room 9. There is no air conditioning and only a fan. The evenings that we stayed were both extremely hot, and the fan did nothing to help with that. If you opened the ranch slider you got all of the outside noise, and let bugs in. Room was lovely. Nicely done up with a lovely bed etc. No tissues in our room , no hair drier in the room. The bathroom was horrible with an old tap for shower over the bath, with very little water pressure, and the glass screen door did not prevent water from getting all over the bathroom floor. No handle or anything to allow you into and out of the bath/shower, and the bath mat even if you followed their instructions, the mat still moved all over the place. If the above missing items were replaced and bathroom done up with an air conditioning unit, I would pay the price we paid, otherwise, this was overpriced and lacked in many areas for us.

A Motel I really loved in NZ! A fantastic and very warm welcome and really wonderful rooms. I had a room with a spa and it was great. Big rooms, well maintained and very comfy. As we had a room in the back of the compound, we did not hear any traffic going by.
