DO NOT STAY HERE-ORGANIZED THEFT RING BY MANAGEMENT. My tour with G Adventures/National Geographic Journeys just ended a 2-night stay at Taleni Etosha. Please read all of this long review to understand what happened. 1- Our group arrived at Taleni Etosha on Tues., Sept. 3, 2024, late in the afternoon. At check-in, the man working at the reception desk provided an orientation and advised that should we want our rooms cleaned the next day, we should leave our keys with reception before we left for our day-long Etosha National Park safari the next morning. If keys were not left, the rooms would not be cleaned. 2- My roommate and I went to our room and promptly locked unneeded things in the safe, e.g., my camera, wallets with credit cards and cash, passports. We would be out of the room for a group dinner and wanted to ensure it would be secure. 3- The group had dinner in the common area. After dinner, we went to back the room to prepare for an early morning the next day. The room safe wouldn't open so I went to reception to ask for someone to open the safe. The duty manager was called, when she came, I told her that I needed help opening the safe, and her immediate response was ”We only open the safes when you've gone.” (An eery response given what happened, see below). Surprised at the remark, I stared at her for several seconds until she said she was just joking. It was an odd interaction. She came to my room and opened the safe. I got my camera out for the next day's safari and locked the safe. 4- We left for safari early morning the next day, Wed., Sept. 4, 2024. After the safari, we arrived back at Taleni Etosha and went to the rooms to rest and clean up before dinner. My roommate and I were both surprised to see that our room had been cleaned despite not leaving our room key with reception that morning. We did not need or want our room cleaned. 5- After dinner that evening, I unlocked the safe and retrieved our items in preparation to leave early the next morning. We were counting our cash to set aside money for tips and both realized that there was less money than before. My roommate was out $200 USD, and I was out $100 USD (that I know of; this was taken out of a Bank of America envelope that I received when I withdrew $300 before the trip so I knew the total—there was other USD in my wallet but I don't recall how much was there originally) and 600 South African Rand that I had set aside for tips. 6- We were in disbelief and thought 2 things: (A) the duty manager who opened the safe for me the evening before clearly knew we were using our safe to store things, and (B) someone had been in our room to clean despite our not providing our key to reception. We agreed to speak with Johannes, our tour leader, the next morning. 7- At breakfast on Thurs., Sept. 5, 2024, we spoke to Johannes about the issue. He promptly informed G Adventures and left to speak to the Taleni Etosha manager at reception. At the same time, other people in
The Etosha Safari lodge is one of the closest lodges to the main gate of Etosha National Park and therefore very convenient for game drives into the park. We arrived from Damaraland mid afternoon and decided to take a tour of the Eldorado enclosure (with cheetahs, leopards, lions etc), which is recommendable. The Etosha Safari logde is laid out with individual bungalows, all with individual and beatiful views over the savannah stretching out from the park. The bungalows are nice and of higher quality than similar bungalows we experienced in Namibia. Further the restaurant patio with a beatiful sundeck is amazing. The evening buffet as well as the breakfast buffet was just a notch above the similar buffets we tried around Namibia.
With a stay at Tarentaal Guest Farm in Okaukuejo, you'll be in a national park, and 23 mi (37.1 km) from Etosha National Park and 22.9 mi (36.8 km) from Etosha National Park Anderson Gate. This lodge is within the region of Ongava Private Game Reserve.
Take advantage of recreation opportunities such as an outdoor pool or take in the view from a terrace and a garden. Additional features at this lodge include complimentary wireless internet access, a picnic area, and barbecue grills.
At Tarentaal Guest Farm, enjoy a satisfying meal at the restaurant. Mingle with other guests at the complimentary reception, held daily. Wrap up your day with a drink at the bar/lounge. A complimentary continental breakfast is served daily from 6:00 AM to 9:30 AM.

This campsite offers a fantastic location, just a short drive from the Etosha National Park gate, making it super convenient for early morning or late afternoon game drives. The refreshing pool is a real highlight, perfect for cooling off after a day of exploring under the Namibian sun. The decor is eclectic and adds character to the place, creating a quirky and welcoming atmosphere. Every corner has its own charm, giving the campsite a unique vibe that stands out from other spots in the area. However, if you’re staying at camp 1, be aware of the road noise, which can be a bit of a downside, especially at night. To fully enjoy the tranquility, it’s worth requesting a campsite further into the resort, where the noise fades and the peaceful surroundings take over. Overall, this is a great spot for its prime location and relaxing pool, but for a quieter stay, make sure to choose a site away from the road.
Loved the vibe of Etosha Safari Camp and the staff were friendly and always helpful. The Camp2Go accommodation was exactly what we needed travelling with a busy toddler. I would suggest a playground area for children, however, as there was not much at the restaurant area to keep our kids occupied in terms of play - just something to consider. There were also no baby changing facilities in the ablutions which is another thing to consider for parents travelling with babies/toddlers.
