I travel frequently to Kampot province for my trip. After trying several hotels, I confirm that Prek Kdat Resort is the best place where to stay. Food is great, and is a nice view, rooms are cleans and wide, atmosphere is cool and personnel always kind and at disposal very much recommended.
We had an amazing stay at Nataya Round House this week. It's quiet, right on the water, and the service is so wonderful. Many thanks to Min Pai, who made our stay so nice. He went out of his way to make sure that we had everything we needed. He even found out it was our wedding anniversary and arranged a romantic dinner on the waterfront for us. He is a great manager, and his staff is well trained. The facilities are well maintained and clean, including the cute bungalows, which afforded privacy and comfort. It's a great place to escape for a few days. Just a couple of notes to make everything clear. First, there is no beach with ocean swimming at this hotel. There is a sandy area and a fabulous swimming pool, but you cannot go in the ocean. The salt water pool is currently closed. Secondly, Nataya is about 40 minutes by tuk-tuk out of Kompot, so it's kind of secluded. That was great, as we were looking for a little retreat to relax. But it means the only meal choice is the restaurant, which we found to be quite yummy and reasonably priced. This is a fantastic place for families to play together or couples/singles to find a retreat. If I lived in Cambodia, it would be my ”go to” place for a long weekend.
I have booked during business trips and have stayed at the hotel many times. The overall evaluation is good, the service is good and the attitude is good. This is probably one of my strangest reviews I have written on a hotel. Firstly the hotel is set on a small island and the only way on and off is by a speedboat , which is great fun. The location of the hotel is about 7 km outside of Kampot so you will need a tuk tuk ride into town. So that is about the location of the hotel, lets now talk about the hotel its self. The rooms are all on stilts and connected by wooden walkways. The rooms have a small terrace and are very comfortable. You are offered to use bikes to get around the resort, this also is great fun and very unusual The facilities of the hotel offered are for potential families with swings, crazy golf and a large swimming pool, which is some distance from the reception area. There are plenty of sunbeds and places to sit near the pool for the number of guest we saw. This now brings to an observation, When we checked in, it appeared we were only 6or 7 other guests. Many of the areas were deserted and not staffed, so to get a drink by the pool required us to go back to reception and someone to serve us. So getting a drink could take 30 mins or so. However we stayed for 4 nights and by the 2nd day other guests had arrived and it was a little easier to get a drink or something to eat. It would have been better if the staff made themselves more visible than hide behind a bar that was not open. The food, the first couple of mornings it was a menu driven breakfast and unfortunately it was not that great, gold fried eggs. It appeared that they only had one member of staff who could speak English and when he was not on, a lot got lost in translation like asking for sugar. We ate there one evening and the food was expensive compare to outside of the resort and was again not of the best quality and being cold, which we had to send back. Day 3 and 4 with more guests a buffet breakfast was put on. The selection was adequate, but not great compared to other hotels we had stayed at. I do think this hotel is either suffering and still recovering from Covid or they are in a transition. It is potentially a gold mine if they had more guests and a good chef, also opened up the bar near the pool.
The hotel is a few kilometers away from the No. 3 road, the road is not perfect, so it is very difficult to walk, the location is relatively remote, the surrounding environment is not very good, the hotel interior planning is very good, the staff service is warm, but the room is not good, the toilet There will be water, the taste is very heavy, the mosquitoes are also very much, and the sleep is not good, that is, the environment planned by the hotel is very good, other general.
I came across Green Mango Bungalows by accident as I had booked somewhere else and upon my arrival in Kampot discovered it was closed. This was a great almost disaster as I truly enjoyed my stay at Green Mango Bungalows. The rooms are affordable, spacious, clean and although there is no air-con, there are incredibly powerful fans that definitely keep you cool overnight. The showers are powerful and actually get hot, a commodity in Kampot. The riverside lodges are stunning and have beautiful views of the river. The resort is covered in greenery and the restaurant and dock offer spectacular views of the river, jungle and mountains. It truly is a view you cannot beat! The property is a little way out of town but this adds to the charm as this part of the river is quiet, so there are not many tourist boats or noise coming from other resorts. It really is an escape. It is also easy enough to get a tuk tuk to the property and this was arranged for us by the staff. The resort is run by a wonderful family who will do anything to ensure you have a great stay. Truly kind and wonderful people. Kevin, the owner, is as hospitable as they come. His wife, Sreymao, makes great food (fried noodles were my favourite!) and their two children are absolutely wonderful. If you want a relaxing place to ”escape” this is it! I will definitely be back!
