"Overall, the hotel's design is quite good. The exterior and some decorations incorporate the distinctive red brick architecture of Otaru, giving it a strong local character, which is definitely a highlight. The location is also decent, about a 10-minute walk from the station, which isn't too far even with luggage, and it's right next to the canal. The staff's service attitude was excellent; they were generally enthusiastic and willing to offer help proactively, which left a good impression. However, the hotel's hardware facilities are relatively average, a bit of a letdown compared to the appealing exterior design. The sofas in the lobby lounge area were visibly damaged and looked old, indicating mediocre maintenance. The room layout was also quite compact, feeling a bit cramped when in use, with not much space left after putting down luggage. Additionally, there were damaged areas on the wallpaper inside the room, showing a lack of attention to detail in maintenance. During my stay, the air purifier also leaked, which affected the user experience. As for breakfast, the variety and taste were quite ordinary, without much distinctiveness. It felt pretty standard overall, but the price was relatively high, offering only average value for money."

"A super surprising hotel next to the Otaru Canal, with a retro Meiji-era style. Every corner is carefully decorated, and you can see traces of history next to the Otaru Milky Way. The hotel service is super safe and enthusiastic. I made a reservation in time for the Otaru Fireworks Festival and opened the rooftop in advance for guests to watch in an orderly manner. This is the most satisfactory hotel for my trip to Hokkaido, with the most delicious breakfast and the most comfortable hot springs."

"Excellent stay! The hotel was clean and the location was great. My only minor complaint would be the room size, a bit on the small side. Breakfast was also good. The large communal bath on the top floor was fantastic, especially with the outdoor hot spring. We were lucky enough to experience it during a snowfall, which made it even more special."

The bed was too soft; while tolerable, it wasn't very comfortable. Also, the double duvet cover was a bit off-putting. The lighting was good. Breakfast was good and the services good too Check-in and check-out process was fast and smooth The hotel is an old hotel and nicely maintained but the furnitures qnd fixtures are quite old. The heating is not stable,when it turned off automatically the cold hits in instantly"

"The hotel is new and modern, and its location directly opposite the Otaru Canal is convenient for sight seeing. The breakfast was delicious, and the onsen facilities were well-maintained. However, a serious lapse in basic operational standards significantly impacted my stay. I was assigned a room that was both unlocked and had not been cleaned. This is an unacceptable level of oversight for any hotel. What was even more disappointing was the lack of accountability from the front desk. There was no sincere apology or meaningful recovery effort to address the situation. While the property itself has strong potential, this incident raises concerns about overall quality control and staff professionalism. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously and implements improvements to prevent similar occurrences in the future."

"Do NOT choose this hotel for skiing!! Unless it's half the price during the same period, I'll never pick this place again. Prioritize other hotels with shuttle buses to Otaru Station. First, the location: This is Otaru-Chikko Station, two stops away from Otaru Station. The nearest convenience store is a 10-minute walk outside. Although there's a mall downstairs, its operating hours are 10:00 AM - 8:00 PM, which is the only time you can use the indoor passage. Most restaurants close around 7 PM, so it's really inconvenient to find food after skiing. Second, it's really old! The carpet in my room type was dirty, the bed was rock hard, and the pillow felt like a worn-out cotton pillow – small and flat. The worst part is that after sleeping, my head developed small bumps and became very itchy!! I don't know if it was fleas, but it made me scratch my head for the next few days. The hygiene is truly concerning. This hotel has no coin-operated washing machines or laundry rooms, only individual dry cleaning, which is very expensive. This is super inconvenient for skiers staying for an extended period. frankly, the only good thing about this hotel is the room size; everything else is a huge letdown."

"Extremely satisfied with this romantic hotel! Although I went with a friend, it's really more suited for couples. The complimentary kerosene lamp lounge within the hotel is absolutely amazing, with daily music box performances – pure romance! Plus, there are many guest-only activities that are definitely worth participating in."

"The shuttle service provided by the hotel was very convenient, we made good use of it everyday. The room was spacious and nicely furnished. Having a private bath was definitely a plus. Breakfast was excellent."
