The hotel is on the edge of town. The rooms with private bathrooms are reasonably distributed and can be used for cooking. During the afternoon, the water was suddenly cut off. After contacting the hotel, I went out to play. After two hours, I returned to the room and it was repaired. I like it.
This is a wonderful place to stay in an absolutely enchanting town! Grundarfjörður is far better than the guidebooks make it out to be. And the Old Post Office is really the perfect spot. The rooms aren't big but they're well appointed and the shower is wonderful! It's quiet and the blackout curtains do a great job in the summer. From this perfect vantage point, it's a wonderful and easy walk to the base of the Kirkjufell Mountain and the delight waterfalls. In town, there are two amazing coffee shops (Valeria which is run by a wonderful Colombian expat and the bookstore/cafe Graena Kompaniið which is run by two wonderful Icelandic women). Dinner at Bjargarsteinn Mathus is first rate. And, you can't miss the great studio of the sculptor and artist, Ludvik Karlsoon. Really, this town is a delight. We spent two nights there - one very full day - and we did not regret it. It's still coming to me in my dreams long after!
My wife and I stayed in a room on the 2nd floor, full of large rooms, and a cubicle similar to the living room, and the sofa is a sofa bed, so if there are 3-4 people, it is no problem; you can see the church directly from the window.
The room is completely slippers, very clean!
The kitchen on the 1st floor has complete ovens, gas stoves and other kitchen equipment to use!
There is a parking lot nearby and parking is very convenient.

A great house, at the foot of the snow-capped mountains, super beautiful.
Driving to Church Hill for 5 minutes, I saw the northern lights at night,
The house is very clean and can cook. I also saw a rice cooker.
It's a small house with beautiful snow all around.
The facilities in the room are very complete, but the smell of cooking oil will be a bit big.
The wind will be very noisy at night, slightly insufficient.
The room was large, with heating in the floor—they brought us a portable heater as we hate the cold—and a big bathroom with an enclosed shower. There was no bench or suitcase holder, but there were three chairs, two bath towels, two wash clothes, and no hand towels. The bed was comfortable. We enjoyed the hotel and breakfast. We recommend staying at this guesthouse. However, the dinner had a minimalist menu, and we were not impressed with the food quality. We do not recommend eating dinner at this hotel.
I loved this restful hotel by the water. It was so nice to be able to watch the sheep grazing next to the shore and pass by the window in the bar area. We had a comfortable room with a little balcony that we couldn't access. The room wasn't very big, but the bed was very nice, and we got a good night's sleep. I also liked the shower. Dinner and breakfast in the restaurant were fine, and we also enjoyed some wine in the bar. I wished we could stay another night and just sleep, or read a book, watching the water and the sheep while sipping wine. What a beautiful hotel!
A lovely little hotel! Don’t let the approach fool you - it doesn’t look much from the outside but it really is lovely. The room we had was spacious and clean with a gorgeous view of the the mountain and the beach. The bathroom was clean and had a good shower. There isn’t anywhere else to go and eat so either plan accordingly or have the buffet at the restaurant - it’s expensive but as a one off it was worth it! The staff were incredibly helpful too - we’d been having some issues with our car and they were more than willing to help us out! Make sure you take a visit down the road to see the seals!
