The location is hard to find. The room is small. Breakfast is OK, ordinary small hotel. But the price is still reasonable. Instead of being far away from it, there are ten independent small houses on the edge of the road. It should be good to see the aurora, but I don't know what hotel it is.
This property was a little disappointing. First of all, if it comes up in a search for a hotel near Vik, don't believe it... it's not. It's about a 30 minute drive away. However, on top of that the place is ok. The cabin that we stayed in was ok, was nice that it had a kitchenette, but some of the cabin needed redone. No WIFI and very limited cell data on the phone. The biggest issue I had tho, was the communication with the management company. I never received info on how to check in (no front desk). I did eventually get in contact with them. In the instructions, they REPEATEDLY stated that checkin needed to be by 9:30 pm and that there was no after hour check in... Well, the check in is a lockbox. We went out of our way to cut our adventure short that night to get there by the check time. VERY DECEIVING. This was the most expensive place that we stayed in Iceland and the most frustrating. Honestly, I wouldn't stay here again. I don't recommend that you do either.
The hotel is located not far from the main road and is easy to find, the surrounding area is dark enough at night to see the stars.
We never saw staff in our 2 night stay but check in was easy as there was a phone available to call the staff.
The room is clean but very small, after opening up our luggage there was nowhere to stand. The room can really use a few more hooks on the wall for hanging up coats and outer gear.
The bathroom is clean but a bit dim and the water from the shower runs into the rest of the bathroom. There is very little space to put toiletries.
There is a pantry upstairs with hot water, tea and hot chocolate. There is also a dining and living area with a pool table, which is nice.
During our stay there was a crazy storm and the whole house was shaking from the wind, which was a bit scary. The windows in the room were not air tight so the wind was howling through the gaps. It was a bit loud and cold.

Speaking hotel with beautiful views of the mountains, great room, great breakfast, we made dinner at the hotel, and it was the best meal I made in Iceland, I very recommend.
We stayed for one night during a tour of the South Coast. Like most other accommodation, it's self check in and is simple and easy. The cottages/huts are clean and have great views out from the main living area. Our only downside was the awful (sewer/drain) smell in the bathroom, which was immediately apparent when entering the cottage. This was our only issue with the accommodation and was fine for one night if we kept the bathroom door closed. I don't think we would have been so 'accepting' had it been for a couple of nights.

Our car entered the mouse. The hostess gave us a wooden mouse clip, and we were all moved. The room does not include breakfast, but the male host waited until 8 o'clock until we arrived. We also prepared homemade cookies for us to eat. The room we lived in was very large and exquisite. We could see all the details and domestic Not the same. Many non-standard wonderful designs at first glance are the rooms made by the landlord himself. He also has a garage with all kinds of tools and his own agricultural tractor parked in it. Great!
The room can see the waterfall, the hotel is good or the restaurant is the best choice for the attraction. The room was simple, but the bed was very comfortable, the breakfast was simple, the yogurt tasted good, the bed could not be added, and the family bed was a little crowded. The surrounding scenery is beautiful. The restaurant’s lamb chops taste very good, the local beer is bitter, but it’s great to watch the waterfall.
My wife and I had Hotel Skogar booked for two nights via Iceland Tours. We read the reviews and were not impressed. We contacted Iceland Tours and requested another hotel. None were available. We prepared for the worst. And then we arrived at the hotel. We pulled into the hotel just as registration closed at 2200, but called ahead to say we'd be in later. The friendly clerk, who as it turns out, performs many other duties, had us checked-in in no time. Our room was on the 2nd floor. Be advised there is no elevator. As we entered the room, with an actual key, I was waiting for the big disappointment. The room was beautiful, the view stunning! We had room 204 which is recommended. It is a corner room with views of the mountains, pastures, sheep, and Skogafoss! We quickly got situated. The bed linens and towels were fine, no issues. After a great night's sleep we had breakfast at the hotel. Nothing fancy but it works. Eggs, bacon, toast, cheese, cold cuts, tomatoes, cucumbers, yogurt, and cereal. The dining room was clean and well organized, and crowded at 0800! My only complaint of our stay was that the coffee ran out and was not refilled. Remember I said earlier the one guy working there was doing alot. We did not eat at the restaurant. Thete isn't much else in Skogar. Vik, about 20 miles east, is the nearest town with a small grocery store and a few restaurants, including a nice brew pub. Is it the Ritz-Carlton? No. It is a small hotel in the middle of nowhere in Iceland. The setting is gorgeous and it was a convenient stop on our way to the Eastern side of the island for Fjallsarlon and Jokusarlon. Not sure why there are such negative reviews. Hotel Skogar has charm, is clean and cozy, and is steps from Skogafoss, where GoT was filmed (last season, Jon Snow and Danaerys land their dragons here)! We would stay here again without hesitation.
A nicely located ‘boutique ‘ hotel with a great restaurant conveniently located for waterfalls and stunning scenery nicely set back offthe ring road and only about 40 mins from Vik . The rooms in the main hotel are a bit old school and flowery in style rather than traditional Icelandic -and could do with a little remodelling . The new annex rooms are better if you want a more Nordic vibe. Otherwise very friendly and welcoming team with a good breakfast. The wild goose burger in the restaurant was awesome and the child’s burger very generous in size . Highly rated all the food we had. Slight gripe the hot tubs were a little green with algae but the views stunning .
Excellent
