From a reasonably efficient checkin and enjoying the complimentary drink in the bar where the staff seem not to be the friendliest it was noticeable that the whole establishment needs modernisation. There were only two power sockets (together) in the room which were already in use for the lamp and TV. There were two others oin the bathroom. The room was a reasonable size but I should not need to use the only sockets on the other side of the room and have to remove the lamp or TV socket, particularly as the lamp was needed as there was no ceiling lights. This is 2023 and rooms need more power outlets than this dated relic offers. Breakfast was not the best. A menu was given and some things that were asked for resulted in shrugs and disapproving faces. Others items seemed to be more acceptable. However when the staff were asked for a particular drink, the completely wrong drink was given, mainly due to the lack of English used and I am also at fault here as I speak no Spanish. Another guest intervened and told the staff what I wanted but he only got it half right and what eventually arrived was a compromise I suppose. Whilst having breakfast the room had been cleaned and after returning to the room to freshen up and collect a couple of items for the day, I had a short 20 minute snooze only to be woken by a member of staff in the room telling me that it was now checkout. This was at 10.30am and checkout was not until 1pm. Additionally I also had another night to spend there!!! This led me to be particularly suspicious as to why the employee was in the room in the first place. Had she been told by cleaning staff that I was out and that the laptop in the room was there for the taking? Was she made aware that I was one of the few few foreign guests in the hotel and being likely to leave the country soon, was she there to add ”cargo” to my luggage only for it to be later retrieved by a gang after being followed? From this point on I did not feel comfortable at all in the hotel. This was exasperated by the fact that the room keycard would not work on the door later when returning that evening. A nearby cleaner kindly shook her head and then quickly let me in. I am afraid this hotel will have to improve significantly if it wants to generate business from foreign clientele who simoly want a safe and hassle-free stay. I will not be back.
I always book through world of Hyatt, and arrived in Tegucigalpa on a somewhat stressful trip, however from the moment I arrived at the lobby, the vibes in the hotel starting from the greeting and upgrade by Ricardo and service on the roof top bar by Katherine. Made everything better and I had a super successful stay and certainly made better by the top staff

This hotel has significant hygiene and cleanliness issues in the rooms with torn gross sheets. I’ve stayed here many times before and always thought it was a relatively high end hotel for its location. I recently stayed there two weeks in May 2024 and the level of hygiene and cleanliness has really gone down. During my first day in May for a few days, there was a pile of dirt or something on the carpet in the room. The room had two beds that both had torn sheets and heavily stained sheets. A guest in another room had put a glass in the hallway by my door and it was there for days without being picked up. I went home for a few days and came back the next week for a full week stay, the sheets were in much better shape this time, but still had noticeable stains. When I checked out after the first stay in May, I mentioned to the front desk staff the state of the sheets and he said they expected to replace them soon. But for the claimed level of luxury in this hotel, and the price being charged, I don’t think the sheets are satisfactory or would be accepted really in any decent hotel or motel. I think at this point the Hyatt may be a better alternative in terms of quality and location, depending on points program preferences. Otherwise the Intercon is somewhat conveniently located across from the mall, walkable to the mall. But the Hyatt is also near a (less nice) mall, movie theater, and closer to more varied food options. Both are by a grocery store. The breakfast at the Intercon is good if included in your stay and is buffet and full service with eggs, etc. It does have an oddly small selection of fruits for a tropical country. The Intercon also has better on property restaurants than the Hyatt, with a pool bar and Japanese restaurant. I think Hondurans and regional travelers may still consider the Intercon to be high end, as the hotel and bar and restaurants seemed busy with high end clientele. But again, the rooms are not that clean and torn stained sheets are not acceptable. If you prefer to dine at nicer places in the city the Hyatt is also a better location.
The staff are trying to give the best attention, they are excellent!! The hospitality from the guardian that receives me at the entrance, to the attention of the cleaning staff and at breakfast makes me feel welcome always!!
The main point of this review is going to be my introduction to this hotel. I was there with my girlfriend, getting ready to leave for vacation the next day. I go to check in and they say that I had not paid for my room. I show them the receipt and my own personal bank account that matched the exact amount of money taken out for the hotel. Even with this, they continually told me that I had not paid. It took about 20 to 25 minutes of standing my ground on the subject before one of them came back and basically just gave me the room key. It was ridiculous. I have felt it many times while being overseas, but I will tell you that it really felt like that I was again trying to be scammed because I was American. Even if this was not the case, instead of insisting that I am wrong, try and look at the literal proof of payment right in front of your eyes. After I got done with this frustrating moment, I was given a room key to the 8th floor. I walk over to the elevator. I wait and wait and then a crowd starts to form. The elevator was broken. So, I asked if I could use the stairs and then was told you can only use the stairs with guided access but that only 10 people could go at a time. So, I spent about 1 hr or more just trying to check in and get to my room. The only reason that I don't give this place 1 star is because the room, restaurant, and pool area was actually quite nice. I am purely giving a negative review only based on the fact of the terrible service that I was met with coming into the hotel. This being said, for the money that I spent to be in this hotel, I will surely suggest to you that you find an airbnb in the surrounding area. Unless you wish to have the hotel experience (aka breakfast) I do not recommend coming here.
Breakfast can be ordered, there are a variety of package options, after the selection, you must wait for a while, there is a small biscuit fruit drink can be eaten first. The service is very good. On the side of the hotel, there is no good shopping, and the exterior is also on the side, but there is a hole in it, it should be a private villa. The room is still very upscale, look at the picture.
