Find the Cheap Patterdale Hotels

Firstly the staff were friendly and efficient, secondly the hotel allowed us to have dinner as a non resident, that’s where the positives ended I’m afraid. We had to pay in advance for the meal and as we went along for drinks, very unusual. Where our true disappointment came was from the quality of the food. Our starter of garlic mushrooms on garlic bread was returned as it was too over powering with garlic. The salmon roulade was adequate. The roast beef was well cooked and quite tender, the vegetables and potatoes had been around too long and lacked flavour and freshness. The stir fry chicken was a poor imitation of the real thing, while it was edible, it was quite bland. Further disappointment came with the deserts, very poor cheesecake, soggy base and rubbery filling. Even the chocolate ice cream had no flavour, just coloured frozen water. It felt like the food was aimed at guests (tourists) who didn’t have a choice and would never be returning anyway. Would recommend the White Lion pub as an alternative in Patterdale.

The only thing to complain is the waitress in the restaurant. She’s so arrogant, cold. She seems the only one to take orders at dinner and breakfast time . It’s very hard to put up with her. I only left 2 pound tip. That’s only for the courtesy. she doesn’t deserve the tip at all! We planned to stay in the same hotel on the way back from Scotland, but hesitate because of her bad service as it’s hard to avoid . It’s inconvenient to have meals outside the hotel. .., Plus the salad served with old whole leaves !!! After entering with some in trepidation I was pleasantly greeted by a professional friendly gentleman who took my order and booking for dinner that night. I found a lovely corner to pitch up and settle down to enjoy my pint. Some times when you just try you are rewarded. And this is one such time. Feel very comfortable in the friendly, bright, clean and well run establishment. Fully recommend a visit. And if you can stay in the hotel or camp site next door then so much the better 👍🎊👍 Foods good too 😋

Perfect location on the shore of Thirlmere. As other reviewers have said, its a little old fashioned downstairs but don’t let that put you off. Our room (15) was spacious, spotlessly clean and cosy with a large bathroom and wonderful view of the gardens and lake. Stay for dinner, it’s delicious. We’re already looking forward to coming back x

The hotel is old-fashioned and the breakfast variety is not rich enough. The hotel is on the side of the road and the car is noisy.

Clean well presented hotel. Large rooms. Very polite attentive staff #dogfriendly - accomodtion and the adaptations they make to your stay for your dog is really tasteful and nice thinking of how can get best of your stay for your and your dog but also for other guests. Food in restaurant delicious Spa area included in hotel price, which I felt was really good, and had amazing views of hills and gardens. Little disappointed in how small facilities were and lack of choice but still nice. The aromatherapy room did not seem to be working and had missing tiles, and spa pool could only fit 4 people comfortably. However, it was not busy, so it was not a major issue to us. Some of the jets in the pool were not working also. Due to being agent staff where kind enough to show me some alternative rooms to ours and all absolutely gorgeous, nice size, well presented and all had a nice view. Our personal room was absolutely amazing and we got massages in room off local massage therapist, who was absolutely brilliant. Would recommend hotel to all, only down fall was the standard of the spa, just needed a little attention.
