While the decor may be somewhat dated, it didn't detract from our overall experience. The location was convenient, with easy access to transportation and nearby attractions. Overall, DoubleTree Hotel provided us with a satisfactory stay and good value for the price.”

Arrived on Saturday 28th September, my husband had ben working all day so we arrived far later than we anticipated. I had requested a walk in shower ( didn’t get one) room was not particularly clean, carpet dirty, toilet seat and shower looked grubby etc. We decided to eat in the bar…….. walked in to a large group of drunk, shouting and swearing men with one female who was pretty much the same, they were saying the c word and f ing etc every other word. Very unpleasant and this sort of behaviour shouldn’t be tolerated in a hotel we were not in a club at midnight, it’s the only restaurant in the hotel and as a result we decided to eat in the lounge area which was surprisingly busy…. I wonder why! Food was nice, while we were having our food I received a email asking how our stay was going. I replied honestly and received an email from the general manager saying he would make sure in future that the food and beverage team would make sure this didn’t happen again!!! TOTAL LACK OF CUSTOMER SERVICE FOR PAYING HOTEL GUESTS. Could I suggest that the management watch the CCTV of these delightful guests that were seen to be more important than paying hotel guests. Not happy we have been returning guests for many years as we love the shopping outlet but just needed a relaxing weekend and that far what what we had. Incidentally nobody cleaned our room either !

We had a stopover in Swindon so that we could travel to Stonehenge for my wife’s birthday. I asked the hotel in advance to do something to mark the occasion, which they did very well. When we checked in, the room had balloons and happy birthday messages all around the room. Another thing that impressed me was the breakfast. I have just been to a Premier Inn hotel in London on business at the time of writing this review. While Premier Inn offers slightly more variety in their breakfast foods, the quality of food in this Holiday Inn Express is exceptional, light years ahead of Premier Inn. Well done, Holiday Inn Express Swindon West!

We needed an overnight to break our journey on the M4. This was ideal. Quick, friendly check-in with hot brealfast pre-ordered. Room and bed OK for what we paid (but would have liked two pillows and more tea bags.) Bathroom was spotlessly clean and the shower good though lacking a grab rail over the bath. Breakfast buffet was well stocked and hot breakfast nicely cooked. Large well lit car park with CCTV. We would use this hotel again.

Me and Hubby had a great time at The Tawmy Owl. It started with dinner lovely home cooked Sunday Roast Then up to our room which we booked. Spacious, emaculat and really comfortable. Then back down for the Open Mike Night. Really great fun, lovely people, and lots of drinks to try. In the morning down for breakfast. Just what the Dr ordered. Thanks Laura for a great stay. This may have been the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. My husband and I booked through travel zoo to celebrate our first wedding anniversary and we're very much looking forward to our stay. Upon arrival we were shown to an incredibly dark, shabby and dated room at the back of the hotel which clearly hadn't been cleaned from the previous stay as the carpet was dirty. We were then shown to another room which again had not been properly cleaned. My husband complained and we were told to leave it with them and they would sort a nicer room for us so we went for a walk. When we returned we were given a better room which was light and bright however there were a large number of cobwebs in the room and the bathroom was very dated and not entirely clean with black mould in the grouting. The disappointment didn't end there unfortunately as when we went for breakfast the following morning, the conservatory restaurant was filthy. The windowsills were littered with dead flies and large cobwebs hung from every light fixture. Only one member of staff was taking breakfast orders and I ordered a breakfast with vegetarian sausages, which he read back to me only to be given a pork sausage with my breakfast which I began eating believing it to be vegetarian. The following morning for breakfast was busier and when we came in there was not one clear table for us to sit as every one had the previous guest's dirty plates. We ended up having to sit in the bar area for breakfast. Afternoon tea was included as part of our travel zoo deal. Again, there were hardly any clear tables and when we were seated, we were brought dirty cups for our tea. To make matters worse, while we were waiting, several dead flies fell from the light fixtures and onto our table. At this point, we decided to abandon the afternoon tea as neither of us were in the mood. The filthy restaurant conditions really made us question the state of the kitchen as we imagined the horrors that it might contain if the hotel were happy for their guests to witness how dirty the public areas are! This hotel is not deserving of its 3 star rating at all.
