Sunday lunch - well that’s what we thought we came for, but it was closer to a Theatre Production - A Comedy of Errors may be or just Faulty Towers ! It’s the same old trick rush some dinners into the starter, delay others so we are all in step for the main course - so not a good start. Look its not the student staff that’s the problem they try their best, its the lack of even the most basic training. Drinks orders, not opening the wine (just left on the table) bread, what bread. All well and good having a superb location and beautiful orangery, but sort the staff out - there were enough management around to have spotted what was going on - but it just seemed they didn’t care. Also, if you are serving an alternative to the Sunday Roasts make sure it’s not as good as it was (superb salmon) as it shows up the lukewarm tradition offering.

Visited a few of the pubs in Lutterworth during our brief stay. This was the best of the bunch . Called in after dinner on Tuesday 22/6 and was served by a really friendly guy (sorry, forgot name but it was Jack or Jane or similar maybe). He was very chatty and helpful and a credit to himself and the establishment. Best selection of ales, gins and scotch in the town without a doubt. Lovely outside space too. Wish it hadn't been our last night when we found it!

Unsure what to expect as the hotel was mid refurbishment and there were several bad reviews. We had two bedrooms which were both well equiped, especially the bathrooms which had exceptional fittings and decoration. There is a really pleasant bar serving a variety of moderately priced drinks, a separate breakfast room where there is a good choice of quality products to suit any taste, and a separate function room which can accommodate around 50 sitting guests. Located in the centre of Rugby it is close to many restaurants, bars, shops and of course the Rubby Museum. No on site parking, but reasonably priced parking is available less than five minutes walk away; vehicle access to the hotel is available before 11 a.m. and after 4 p.m. to allow for baggage to be unloaded/loaded. The evening menu is currently pub style offerings which should be upgraded once the refurbishment work is complete. Very friendly staff and well worth a visit.

Stayed here at the weekend with friends; lovely room, enjoyed the evening meal and a fab breakfast. Would recommend. The only downside was that there is a service charge payable on all drinks that you are not notified of. We queried our bar bill as it didn’t make sense and was told by a member of staff that on all purchases a 10% charge is payable. There is no signs up around the bar area notifying you of this. We were told that the staff are not allowed to tell you about this. To me that seems fraudulent. Surely you can’t be charged for something that you don’t know about every time you go up to the bar and purchase a drink? Not sure if the staff get this money or the company. If this is company policy are they breaking the law by not notifying you of this? Please be wary.

One night in the small town of Rugby was quite chill. The hotel is relatively premium in the local area, with small fountains and lawns. It takes about 18 pounds to take a taxi from Rugby Railway Station, and there is no public transportation. The lady at the front desk is not enthusiastic, but she is quite decent. The request to extend the check-out by two hours was agreed. The hotel is relatively large with long corridors. The room is relatively spacious, clean and comfortable, and the bathroom decoration is clean and modern (because many hotels in the UK are relatively old facilities, this one looks good) Breakfast is served in a traditional English style from 6 to 10 o'clock, but we don't have much food left at 9:30, so try to have breakfast as early as possible. Many parents and children stay here, it is lively, but the sound insulation is good so you won't be disturbed. Generally speaking, it is good. It is too late to experience the gym and swimming pool. It is worth a short stay to experience the tranquility of the countryside.
