We have been staying at Buckland for over twenty years now, each time we come back it feels like Buckland Manor wraps its arms around us until we leave. We only had a nights stay last Friday this time, but we get so much out of it. wood panelling, open fires, flag stone flooring, cosy chairs and sofas make for a warming atmosphere. On arrival we were greeted by Hasini on reception, with a warm smile, she helped us in with all our luggage and offered us a warm drink in the lounge, which is new to Buckland. We had not met Tegan before either who is the restaurant manager. She was incredibly knowledgeable about all aspects of her job and extremely helpful with a caring and warm Manner. Michal, who we have know for many years, welcomed us with a hug. He is so kind and professional with a wonderful sense of humour. Nothing is too much trouble, an asset to Buckland, all the staff are a fantastic team. Buckland has a new chef, his food was delicious…….too
The hotel is almost next to the bus station. The bus is convenient, the rooms are clean, the bathrooms are large, and they are cleaned every day. There is no elevator and it is troublesome to carry luggage up. The waiter is often absent, which is not good.
Please note that there are very few bus trips on the Cotswolds on Saturday. There is no bus on Sunday. The day I arrived there was no bus on Sunday. .
The so-called public transportation ticket can only be used for this route. If a loop is to be formed, you do not need to buy a pass. 801 is used more. I took 606 from Broadway to Chippenham, then changed to 501, and then changed to 505 to Bibury, so I can leave early, if I go to Morton Ingam and change trains then 10 am Only. When arriving at the place where you live, you must first find out the bus time point and plan the route, because their bus time is fixed and less.
In short, getting to where you live helps to save time by figuring out the bus route.

From the moment we drove up to the Lygon Arms, we were enchanted. Our heavy bags were whisked away, and we were enfolded by the friendly staff and the sense of history and comfort of the hotel itself. When we travel, we seek out places that have preserved a sense of that unique place and its history. With its expansive fireplaces, stone floors, cozy seating areas, and massive wooden beams, The Lygon Arms was exactly what we hoped for. We had dinner and breakfasts in The Grill - the main dining room - and once in the Tavern. The food was amazing, and the staff, delightful. Max, the restaurant manager, and Petra, the assistant manager were a joy and made us feel like old friends. They went out of their way to make our early morning departure less stressful by sending breakfast to our room at their suggestion. Such kindness! Sofia, Jason, and Gary in the front office were also welcoming and helpful in answering any questions and arranging transportation when we needed it. We are grateful to them all for making our visit so special in every way.
We recently stayed at the hotel as a birthday treat for my wife and had a wonderful time there! All of the staff were amazing! Everyone on the front desk (including Daphne!), the restaurant, bar and housekeeping team made sure we had a great visit! James, Katie and Ian also helped with a few special surprises for my wife when we arrived! We certainly hope to be back again!

Every person I interacted with at the Volunteer Inn was really friendly - from the young woman behind the bar who greeted me and checked me in, to the chaps in the Indian restaurant (no cooking smells in the bedrooms, as restaurant quite separate, just in case you're worried abou that!), to the lady who cooked my delicious breakfast in the morning. The breakfast was really good - real coffee, wonderfully fresh eggs and great sausages and bacon. Lots of choice for vegetarians and those just wanting cereal too. I hadn't stayed in a b&b with a shared bathroom for years, so had been a bit worried about that aspect, but it was totally fine, as the bathroom was accessed by a key and it was only shared with one other room. I felt safe and comfortable, so that was not an issue.
Although I'm originally from Cheltenham, I had not been to Chipping Campden for decades - WOW! It's one of the most unspoiled Costwold towns I've seen, with the most thatched houses in one place I think I've ever seen! The villagers I spoke with were so very helpful and friendly (was on a quest for new tights for my evening biz meeting!) Looks like the town is directly on the Cotswold Way too, so I shall return with my daughter and have a good old yomp! Recommend very highly - the bedroom was simple, but clean and very comfy (the only reason I marked down to a 4 on cleanliness was because my little waste bin had not been emptied from the previous stay....feel a bit mean doing that but, well, it is important...)
I can't wait to go back!
1. The location of the hotel is very good. In the center of Chipping Campden, there is a public parking lot next to it, and parking is very convenient. But be sure to pay attention to the address when navigating. There is another hotel in the same area with the same name in front of it.
2. On the day I arrived, the hotel temporarily informed me that there was something wrong with my room, so I was transferred to another higher-level hotel in the suburbs. The environment and facilities were indeed better.
We were attending a wedding nearby so booked a night's stay here. The receptionist was welcoming and friendly. Our room was very nice with a big bathroom. It was rather warm in the room but there was a fan which helped. We returned from the wedding with a couple of friends just in time for last orders. We were told we would need to sit in the lounge area as the bar was closing, which was fine as it was a nice place to sit and chat with a bottle of wine. We slept reasonably well, the bed was very comfortable with a nice firm mattress (it is only a double and we're used to a Super King at home, but it was fine). Breakfast was good, although one of the ladies serving guests was a little brusque. There was a good choice of cereals and pastries and the cooked breakfast was very nice. Being an old building, the floors are very creaky. Overall we had a very pleasant stay at the Noel Arms.
