Find the Cheap Dame-Marie-les-Bois Hotels

On the 15th May, 2024 we stayed at the Les Hauts de Loire (@h8collection) -part of the H8 Collection (@leshautsdeloire)- in Veuzain-sur Loire. During our stay our hotel room was broken into and we were robbed. At first the hotel refused to believe us and insisted on searching our car and the room for the items and then going through the security footage of our arrival before taking us seriously and finally investigating the matter. After many hours wasted, security footage showed that a man freely entered the hotel grounds through an unsecured gate next to the public road. He then entered the hotel while no one was at reception. The police and the hotel manager determined that he then entered the unlocked office of the manager and used a key to enter our hotel room and steal many valuable items. The manager admitted this openly to the police. The thief can be seen walking out with all of our items past several staff unchallenged. We lost our credit cards, passports and a number of luxury items that totaled over 24,000 euros. We had to rush back to Paris to get new passports, cancel all of our cards. Under French Civil Code this means the hotel was clearly negligent and therefore liable for our losses. However, the hotel’s response was pathetic. The H8 Collection @h8collection has refused to provide full compensation for our losses and instead hid behind their insurance company to deny our claim despite us spending considerable time providing proof of ownership and evidence of our losses. This was all ignored and the hotel insisted on receipts for items purchased more than 10 years ago - an impossible task that they knew would allow them to deny compensation. Afterwards the Director of H8 Collection stopped replying to our emails and ghosted us. We were left with no choice but to sue. To anyone reading this, DO NOT stay at any H8 Collection Hotel @h8collection or resort. Avoid H8 Collection @h8collection entirely. They simply do not care about their guests. While H8 Collection @h8collection, claims to be a high-end establishment, it is nothing of the sort. Le Clos Limeray is an old farm turned into a lovely b&b, with a great English speaking owner, who is also an excellent chef! If it's offered, I highly recommend joining the host for his 3 course meal with apéro as well, all wines are included too. He prefers to make his food from scratch, with local and organic ingredients. The rooms are cosy, the view is stunning, and it's nice and quiet, in the middle of vineyards. We enjoyed visiting nearby Amboise, the Chateau de Clos Lucé was a hit for the whole family, as well as the 2 hour canoeing adventure. We will return to this beautiful gem!

We stayed six nights at this hotel and absolutely loved it! It was such a wonderful base for exploring the Loire Valley, close to so many castles and sights, yet feels secluded and is such a refuge when you come back at the end of a sigh-seeing day. We loved the pool, got massages and facials at the spa, enjoyed meals in the beautiful dining room as well as in the garden just outside our room, and loved just walking around the property and soaking in the tranquility of it all. The staff is so friendly and accommodating. One of my favorite activities we did there was to rent e-bikes from the hotel and spent the day exploring castles through vineyards, and enjoying a delicious picnic made by the hotel as well. A memory I will cherish forever! We did have an issue with the shower our first night, but the staff took care of it immediately and we did not have any further issues with it. One suggestion for the hotel...I realize it is the countryside so to expect some insects, but we did have several daddy longlegs and other small insects in our room. It would have been nice to have a daily sweeping of the room (tall corners that we could not reach ourselves) in order to make it truly feel 5-star. But don't let this deter you, the property, and the rooms, is immaculate, and I would return in a heartbeat. I'm sure that if I had asked or complained, they would have attended to it immediately.

What an incredible gem in the loire valley. If you want a very beautiful chateau experience this is the place to be. We went during their shoulder season (November) and it was quiet and lovely. Although there weren’t many amenities open during this time we were treated really well and the owner Olivier provided us with transport options and dining recommendations in the area. The staff were so so nice and accommodating. Olivier shared some stories about the chateau and answered the million of questions we had with enthusiasm. We were exposed to the teams absolute passion for the property. The interior is stunning with a perfect blend of original fixings and new design. The rooms itself was simple with gorgeous views all around. The bathrooms were modern and everything was very clean and well kept. What a wonderful chateau experience!
