Close to the airport. The hotel has a free shuttle to the airport, which is very convenient. The rooms are relatively new, the decoration is simple and the configuration is relatively simple. The whole is still relatively clean. Breakfast is simple and there are not many choices.
The Bilbao Holiday Inn Express had helpful, friendly staff and great checkin. The room and bed and pillows were better than I expected. But in the morning I found bites on my faces and hands. They may have been from a spider, but for sure they came from a pest. I was there to deliver a presentation at a conference. I itched, and the swelling was obvious. I hope the management sprayed that hotel. I complained to a nice staffer at the desk. I said, their ad promised to make things right if the hotel was not clean. No, there was no compensation. I might try this hotel again. But I am bringing DEET to spray it first. Bilbao is a lovely city.

A lovely hotel close the airport in a small town with a couple of bars. The bus stops directly outside for the 15 min ride into Bilbao. My room was a double and it was very comfortable. The aircon didn't work so it was pretty hot. I was with two friends and only one of us had Aircon. The single room. The hotel had a bar but no restaurant you could only have very basic pizzas. It's good value if you want to stay near the airport or be close to Bilbao without the extortionate hotel prices there.

We are a family of 4, parents and adult children, with a Great Dane. We were going to Andalusia and we wanted a stop near Bilbao. We found the Palacio Urgoiti, which met all our criteria: accessible to PRMs, because I am disabled, dogs allowed, rooms with terrace. It is an old renovated palace, with a decoration with a slightly old-fashioned charm, which gives it a lot of character. The rooms we booked were very large, bright, with a furnished terrace overlooking beautiful landscapes. The bedding was perfect, the bathrooms were ultra modern and very well appointed. We only had one problem: our mastiff is my emotional support dog and as such she can go with me everywhere. However, we were refused access to the restaurant in a very unpleasant manner: although I explained and showed the medical certificate giving me the right to a service dog, the man in charge of the restaurant was downright rude and didn't want to hear anything. So we went to the snack bar, but there, the height of the tables and stools made access extremely difficult and uncomfortable. I think we should explain the law to this obtuse gentleman, so that he allows service dogs in the restaurant. This was the only downside in our stop at Palacio Urgoiti, which is truly a superb establishment that we highly recommend!
Perfect location overlooking the river (virtually next door to the Conde Duque), a 15 minute walk from the Guggenheim. The room was spotless, quiet and very comfortable. I went for the B&B option - the buffet breakfast was excellent, including a glass of cava, if that's your thing! The staff were helpful, efficient and friendly seemingly able to switch between Spanish, English and German. As seems to be the norm these days, the rooms have USB points, so UK visitors don't need to bring an adaptor to charge their phones.
We were a family of three and got the studio apartment. We stayed for 5 nights and were overall very happy. The people at reception were extremely helpful and nice, Ingrid - if I remember her name correctly- was especially welcoming. They have 24 hour reception and check in and check out was very smooth and easy. They also reply to WhatsApp messages during working hours. The apartment had everything you needed and good cupboard space, iron, small kitchenette, nice sized bathroom with good lighting, daily cleaning service, comfortable beds, ... The location was a three minute walk from the Zubizuri bridge and away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Numerous restaurants and cafes and supermarkets were a minute or two away. I greatly recommend this hotel/apartment especially for families. The only thing I wish could be was a cheaper price. It was a bit pricey but I would go again for sure.
The hotel is a few steps away from the Guggenheim Museum. It is very convenient to take a walk to the city market and the uphill cable car. The breakfast buffet is relatively good, with hot and cold food. Paid parking in the basement is also convenient. Need to book in advance. The front desk and restaurant waiters are more enthusiastic. A hotel that can be recommended.
