We three stayed for one night in February. The hotel is on the south edge of town, sharing a parking area with a Mr. Mikes. Reception was good. We got a double queen room on the second floor facing east. The room was good sized, with all usual amenities. There was a small table with two chairs to sit/read/whatever, along with a bar fridge and coffee maker. Lighting was adequate, but not bright. Temperature control was by wall thermostat and worked fine. The room was clean, and the beds were comfy. Many area workers use the hotel, so breakfast starts early and ends at 10 am. There were scrambled cheesy eggs, sausages (smokies), waffles, bread to toast, bagels, oatmeal, etc. etc. The breakfast room isn't large, but adequate, particularly when the workers have left. Overall we recommend the hotel for a good stay when in Slave Lake.
booking with this hotel came with a couple of surprises, the most upsetting one was calling in to ask what facilities they had, hearing of the sauna was the biggest perk; then after booking and arriving at the hotel come to find that the sauna was closed- somewhat disappointing (considering the reviews on the pool at Super 8 were somewhat ”cringy”) then upon arriving in the room the TV didn't work. So overall the kids were rather disappointed, therefore so was I.
And in the past one booking with services online paying with my credit card meant not having to pay deposit, I don't know if that's a common thing for people or not but it kind of came as a shock to me that it didn't state anything about it nor was anything previously mentioned when I had called the hotel before booking. Other then those minor issues..... it was a place to sleep....
