Disappointed today. The reason was due to bad customer service. Myself and my family are happy, polite people but were just met this Sunday morning with surprisingly awful customer service! We arrived at 10am hoping for coffee and cake, but there was no choice for me, being gluten free. Not even an alternative offered like toast?! Surely something that someone who has to eat gluten free can eat?! What about guests who stay there? Our server was completely unbothered about suggesting any options for any of us, even those who are able to eat normally and in the end after our coffees we walked into Christchurch to get something to eat, and we probably would have stayed at Captain’s club for lunch if we weren’t so fed up with the service! We had to chase everything that was ordered as it just did not arrive. Crazy?! And it wasn’t even busy. Beautiful setting, and lovely interior, sadly let down but awful customer service and lack of anything to eat or options offered?

We had a wonderful stay at the Captains Club! We were on our ‘minimoon’ and they very kindly upgraded us to a suite which was amazing. All the staff were lovely, Jane on reception was welcoming and helpful, and the staff at breakfast were attentive and friendly. The room had everything we needed, and the views were super. Breakfast was perfect, a good selection from yoghurt and fruit to cereal and then a choice of hot. We also popped to the spa, which was small but nice we could use it included in our stay. We would definitely recommend and would love to go back!

Everything we’d hoped for an Autumn break. The wonderful staff couldn’t do enough for us and we were lucky enough to be upgraded to a fabulous suite so felt very spoiled. Really have nothing negative to report as even the sun shone most of the time and we could appreciate the superb views.

I took 3 girlfriends for lunch and we all ordered different dishes. All four starters and main courses were fabulous!! We were very well looked after and we can't wait to comeback again. Would definitely recommend!! My only criticism is, your Champagne is very expensive!!!

We had a really enjoyable evening catching up with friends. It’s a wonderful location by the river, great spot for our pre dinner drinks! All the staff were very friendly and hard working. Good choice on the menu and all our meals were delicious.

Had a wonderful 7-day stay for my birthday with my family including my 24 yr semi-verbal autistic son at the Captain's Club. The rooms were spacious, lovely, well-crafted decor. The river and harbour views - well, that's what we were there for. Staff were absolutely great and really helpful from arrival to leaving. I could name names, but you all know who you are, you made our stay and my birthday so special. The spa and pool is so relaxing, albeit a bit small for 'proper' swimmers. Even, my son was happy to stay in pool, just the right temperature, and kept escaping to look at the pool. Christchurch, itself is a nice town, the Castle ruins, Priory and the harbour. Lots of great places to eat. It's a great tourist base, for lots of beaches and viewing expensive beach huts. We enjoyed lots of walking and the views. We went to Swanage by ferry and saw Corfe Castle. Thank you to all of you who made this family, plus supporting friend so welcome. We shall return, to keep you on your toes.

We went for afternoon tea for my friends birthday and it turned out to be an underwhelming affair. We arrived early and were directed to take a seat in the bar area to wait for our table. However we waited and waited while we watched many tables walking in and being seated directly. I had to get up and ask in the end. We made staff aware at every opportunity that my friend had a dairy allergy. However even after this and asking for soy milk when ordering her tea she was served with cows milk. Luckily she asked if it was soy. The food was ok nothing spectacular but descent enough. After this the service was slow and we had get up and walk to the service station in order to pay the bill. This coupled with the fact we watched the waitress rubbing her ear and then not wash her hands. Left us both feeling more than a little disappointed.

lovely position and the rooms although very expensive were nice but the food was really bad which was really disappointing . Even the breakfast as well !! won't be returning as it doesn't live up to the website descriptions . My friend who lives in the area said that it used to be five star but had changed over the past year

We had booked for afternoon tea for my friend’s birthday, we had 2 normal afternoon teas and 2 that were vegan/vegetarian. As the vegetarian, myself and my friend who was the vegan we felt disappointed with the savoury part of the tea, the other afternoon tea had a couple different sandwiches, salmon on toast, a wrap and a sausage roll, whilst we just had 5 sandwiches a couple that were the same. We were also not checked on, only once about 20 minutes after our tea came out but nothing afterwards we had to hunt someone down to ask for more milk but the restaurant wasn’t that busy.
