Mercure Hotel Chongqing Jiefangbei

The room was clean, and the high floor offered great views. Breakfast was also good. The hotel is right next to the pedestrian street, which was very convenient. My family and I were very satisfied with our stay.

The hotel's location is fantastic! It's right above Ba Yi Road Food Street, a 3-minute walk to Jiefangbei, and about 10 minutes to Hongyadong, the Yangtze River Cableway, and Shibati. It's also close to Jiaochangkou and Xiaoshizi subway stations, making it super convenient for exploring and dining. It's definitely a top choice for a trip to Chongqing. The hotel lobby is on the 35th floor, offering amazing panoramic city night views.

I generally trust the Mercure brand, and this time, the Chongqing location I booked was excellent. It's right near Jiefangbei, so you can just walk to go shopping. Taxis are also easy to find, though traffic can be quite heavy. The ground floor area was a bit chaotic; it seems several hotels share the same building. You have to go up to the 35th floor to check in. The front desk offered a room upgrade. I was hoping for a river view, but it turns out I didn't get one. However, they did give me a larger room type. The cleanliness was decent, but I felt the duvet was a bit damp, and I had to turn the air conditioning up quite high; otherwise, it felt a bit uncomfortable. Overall, it was still a good experience.

If it weren't for the location in Jiefangbei, this place really wouldn't be worth the price. The room decor is old and outdated. There are several hotels in the same building, and the elevators are very slow. The lobby is on the 35th floor, making the whole setup feel very chaotic. I had originally booked for 3 nights but checked out after just one night. For the same price during the National Day holiday, I was able to switch to a five-star hotel. The cleaning staff (aunties) in the hallway were very noisy, and the soundproofing at the door was terrible. The mattress was even funnier – the left side was low and the right side was high. That one night felt like it took years off my life.

The hotel's front desk staff were incredibly warm and helpful, always ready to answer any questions with genuine sincerity and politeness. 👍 They even gave us a thoughtful souvenir when we checked out, which was a really nice touch. The cleaning staff were also diligent and courteous. The breakfast was delicious, and the dining environment was pleasant. The air conditioning worked great, and everything was clean and hygienic. The hotel is located right in the heart of a commercial district, with plenty of restaurants nearby.
