Had the most magical time at Muchenji Safari Lodge last month with our family to celebrate our 40th Wedding Anniversary. The lodge and facilities were superb, food excellent and the location incredible. The staff and guides were absolutely brilliant and looked after us extremely well and ensured that we had the most wonderful time. Would definitely recommend, in fact insist that everyone should go!

We had a terrific 4 days, 3 night experience at Muchenje. Our ranger was able to show us a vast range of animals. The tasty buffet style meals were shared with staff and guests with lots of laughter and excitement about the next safari. The chalets were first class-well appointed and attentive housekeeping. It was a privilege to be part of this experience.

This place is run by a very sympathic couple. It's located directly at the river. The pool is not deep enough for swimming. The campsides are not at the water but it's shady and there is nice gras. The owners will help you with anything you need.

Approximately an hours drive from Kasane airport lies Muchenje Lodge providing a tantalising opportunity to glimpse some of the wildlife hidden with the Chobe National Park as you drive to the lodge. We arrived at what has been a long drought and at first glance you would be mistaken for thinking you had landed in an arid and barren desert. First impressions are quickly replaced by moments of awe as you share the stark beauty of nature that included remarkable variety of wildlife, including the rare brown hyena, sable and roan antelope. Elephants however deserve a special mention, these incredible creatures dominate and we must have seen at least 300 in and around the river! G-Bee, our driver and guide did an excellent job of satisfying the needs of long term safari enthusiasts in very challenging conditions. Lodge chalets include fantastic bathroom facilities and large comfortable beds with every amenity you could need. We found the sitting area rather cramped but as we were rarely in the chalet this minor detail did not impact on our enjoyment. Dining is communal which is somewhat constraining in terms of timing of meals. Our personal preference is to have a choice to dine alone or with others, particularly after long hot days, this being our only significant gripe. The staff are wonderfully warm, friendly and welcoming and go out of their way to accommodate individual needs. Our sincere thanks to Evelyn and her team for including us in the Independence Day celebrations on 30Sep2024, it was the perfect end to our brief stay.

Beautiful safari lodge overlooking the Chobe River (which was dry for us, but we still had the benefit of the plains, which attracted herds of different animals). Our safari guide, KB, was excellent! One of our highlights was a river cruise, where we had a boat picnic and saw so many elephants, including babies. Meals, which were taken family style with the lodge staff, were delicious. We loved our experience!

I stayed at muchenje with my family for four nights recently. It was absolutely wonderful! Each couple had their own lodge but the staff made an effort to ensure we went on our daily safari drives together. Eating occurred communally, however the staff prepared a special dinner for us as a family outside one night which was great. Generally staff are open to any requests you have! All the staff were kind, polite and overall genuine people. The bar staff were exceptional (made great pink gin and tonics and pina coladas on demand at any time!!). Our guide Tips was knowledgeable, accomodating and an all round beautiful person. He was always prepared to go the extra mile to make our experience special and answer any questions we had. Watching the sun rise and set each day on our drives with Tips was such a highlight. Gust one of the managers was also a funny story teller! We saw cheetahs, elephants, lions, zebras, giraffes, hippos, crocodiles- just to list a few! There were many special sightings and moments we were able to witness (see some photos attached!!). We hope to come back some day.

My family (6 people total) stayed at Muchenje Safari Lodge, for 4 nights and 5 days. I never have, and probably never will again, experience the magic felt during our stay. Our transfer from Victoria Falls was easy, comfortable and we really appreciated the water available for the trip. We arrived at Muchenje, and were greeted with drinks on arrival, and a personal welcome by two of the lovely managers, Jost and Evelyn. From here, our stay unravelled into a beautiful, once-in-a-lifetime experience, leaving us wanting to stay for longer, and making promises to be back as soon as we could! The intimate experience evolves from the personal greetings at arrival, the dinners spent with other guests, guides, and managers, and the personal attention that each member of the staff gives to each guest, all day and every day. I truly don't know how they have the energy to give 110% at all times! We left feeling like the team was a family at Muchenje, and we really appreciated that they welcomed us into this family for a few days. Our guide, Tips, went above and beyond every day. From early morning drives, to sundown drinks, to close-up experiences with the animals - he made sure that we had a truly special experience. He answered every question without a skip of a beat, on all topics - birds, animals, plants, trees, animal tracks, culture, community. His deep understanding and respect for the animals truly amazed us. More importantly, the kindness, passion and support that he shows to his local community did not go unnoticed, and was appreciated by all of us. To name a few (there were so many!) - Special highlights include the chef taking time to prepare some local spinach that we purchased from the local village, the security guard (Jack) walking us a bit past our room to go look at a baby elephant, the impeccable service by the waitresses every night, the chat with Jost by the fire, Bryan and Mulah ensuring that we always had a Pina Colada in our hand, visiting the local village with Tips, and the personal touches left after our room was meticulously cleaned every day. Thank you for a wonderful and special time at Muchenje Safari Lodge. We will spread the word to all of our friends and family, and will be back one day!

Excellent property near Chobe Park. The grounds and views are beautiful. The staff are super friendly and attentive. The food was great and they are great at accommodating food allergies. It's a 30 minute drive into Chobe park every morning but the guides and animal viewing are incredible. The rooms are very comfortable. The river safari experience is great, and it's nice that they offer nighttime game drives. They treated us very well on our honeymoon.

I stayed two nights at Muchenje , Rambo was my guide. Really lovely lodge located just outside the park. It is in a less busy area so it was not crowded. I did early morning drive, all day safari with boat trip and lunch on boat followed by game drive back to lodge. I also did a night drive after dinner. They had a really nice dinner outside one evening. The food was excellent. Dining was communal dining which I got to meet with many of the other guests. I shared the vehicle with just one couple and one solo traveler who were very nice. We saw tons of animals on drives, we had a leopard walk right next to the vehicle, saw lions, giraffe, kudu, buffalo, sable amongst the animals. I loved the boat ride seeing many elephants come drink from the river. Also saw hippos and crocodile. The boat ride was just the 4 of us and felt very private with a nice lunch on the boat. The room was clean and the shower pressure was good. There was even a hair dryer in the room and a safe. The transfers to and from Kasane airport were very easy and smooth. I found the driver immediately. There is WiFi in the main area and a little souvenir shop. They provide a reusable water bottle and the refill station is in main area. Animals do come through camp so it is important to stay inside after dark and have escort walk you if you to the main area when it’s dark. An elephant had been behind my room During the night and left its mark on the sidewalk behind my tent and broke a tree near the path. The staff was all wonderful and I really enjoyed my stay!
