The front desk was nice. I asked for breakfast separately. I paid in advance at the restaurant entrance, but they said I hadn't paid, so we had a dispute. I didn't get a receipt, so it was my fault, but I felt terrible. The room was spacious but old. There was also a slight smell from the drain.

Hotel was ok. Spacious rooms if the furniture was dated and had clearly seen better days. Had to fight the staff for bath towels. Also may be too many organised tours pass through there. They were often crowding around the reception area and were disruptive when clearly things could have been organised better (and more considerately of other guests). The organised tours perhaps being the reason for the bath towel shortage. Guessing due to lack of planning or foresight by management. Felt sorry for the cleaning staff as they were working long hours (hope they got over time pay). Because of this, when we returned to Chiang Mai a few days later, we purposely chose another hotel.
