We had booked a luxury double room. We were given the key to number 31, and pointed down to what had clearly been, in a previous age, the servants area. In estate agents language this would be a basement room or lower ground floor. The room was dark, needing lights turned on, this being a nice July evening! The window looked out on to an earth bank with a large electric cable running across, with a low wall above and then the view of three cars, looking up at their undersides. There had been no indication of any of this when booking, just very nice looking photos of different rooms. Very disappointing. Also, at the back of the hotel is an outside area, which could be made very attractive and a lovely place to sit out, have drink and a chat. Unfortunately it is run down, shabby and a hugely wasted opportunity.
