We stayed in the hotel as a girls spa break for one night. The setting for this hotel is beautiful surrounded by woodland and lakes. The hotel has original features open fires and grandeur. We ate in the casual dinning area and had drinks by the open fire in the dungeon bar followed by an exceptional breakfast with such variety of choice the next morning. The thermal suite was ok but the Spa treatments were outstanding, I would highly recommend the Kilronan signature massage (thank you Tanya). The bedroom we shared for 4 was spacious and the beds extremely comfortable and such value for money. We had a fantastic relaxing experience just what was needed after Christmas. We will be back!

We spent an evening at Kilronan castle where we celebrated a special occasion for my wife. The F&B team did a fantastic job and we thoroughly enjoyed the evening. We had the chefs table tasting menu. The food was fabulous and expertly described by F&B manager, Alex. We thoroughly enjoyed our night. The castle was beautifully decorated for Christmas.

We made a dinner reservation with Victor who assured us it had been made, and insisted we go to the drawing room for a drink beforehand. 40 minutes later we went to the restaurant and were told by the manager that no reservation had been made for us and the restaurant was fully booked with no possibility of having dinner there. We went back to Victor who said that he had forgot to make the reservation for us after insisting we go to the drawing room for a beverage while we wait. This really put a damper on the rest of our stay. The Gym is poorly equipped with very little working in it. The treadmills stick and make awful loud noises. The other machine screens do not work and the overall cleanliness of the space is very poor.

My husband and I stayed for 2 nights (including New Years’ Eve). We visited the spa and had treatments, dined in the casual restaurant for lunch and dinner, enjoyed 2 breakfasts, entertainment in the Dungeon Bar, relaxed and read newspapers with the library, walked the extensive grounds and enjoyed the New Years’ Eve 8 course tasting menu. I have stayed in lots of 4 and 5 star properties in Ireland over the past few years and have to say that this hotel really stood out in terms of service, decor and ambiance, warmth, food quality and presentation. There were also 2 weddings which took place but we did not hear or see them, which meant that we could continue to enjoy our break away. Many thanks to all the staff. We hope to return in the future.

Fabulous stay all round, Staff were all amazing couldn’t do enough for everyone. Spa treatments were 5 Star. Breakfast was delicious as was casual dining. 5 course fine dining in the Douglas Hyde was a treat. Walks around the lake got rid of cobwebs, great chats with locals while out walking. All in all would highly recommend.

My Partner treated us to an early Christmas present and had the most amazing two night stay at Kilronan Castle, from a warm welcome at the door, easy check in, tour of the hotel everything was just perfect. We had a lovely meal both nights, 2nd night was the fine dining experience which I highly recommend! We also treated ourselves to the spa and it was 5 star, the rooms are lovely and comfortable, a little dated but kind of suited the ambience. All in all a great experience and we will definitely return.

Completely Average. Rooms are old, tired and in desperate need of maintenance. The toilet seat was missing paint, the shower had mold all over, the mattress had stains all over it and was likely 20 years old. The carpets were dirty. A maintenance worker walked right into our room with my wife half naked with no knocking. Dinner had to be sent back not once but twice because it was COLD.... Since there is nothing nearby the hotel knows you are trapped, so they could care less! Bread was stale and the bar staff was like talking to a brick wall. This property is a complete ripoff and should be ashamed of itself. It could be so amazing but the property is more concerned with money than the guests. There are MANY other places worth of our $$$ in Ireland.

We arrived for afternoon Tea and were told to head to the small bar. We were greeted in the little bar room by hesitance by the young staff as if they didn’t want us there, when we said we were there for afternoon tea we were quickly told we were in the wrong area, felt like we were bothering them! we stayed for a drink as we were a little early so I decided to have a Guinness, to my shock it was poured straight to the top in one and let spill and over flow everywhere (no settling in this spot) I did see her do it for a gentleman so not sure if this was just a problem with myself ordering, I chanced a second one and again she done the exact same thing. Would not recommend a pint here. Overall the afternoon itself was fabulous the chef is a credit and the staff in where it was served were very accommodating. We did notice another table did get mince pies with there’s and a couple more things than we did but we didn’t mind too much.. It was a beautiful atmosphere and very well set up and laid out. The hotel itself is beautiful and it’s decorated beautifully for Christmas.
