A very special place to stay; combination luxury hotel, art gallery, historical fort. It was a special treat to drive in through the front gate of a fortress to arrive at the door to this hotel. (Although it was confusing that the signage indicated ”Pousada” rather than ”Pestana” which made us wonder if we were at the right place. Staff was excellent; room was beautiful; breakfast was delicious; amenities were perfect. All in all, I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Cascais, especially if they are visiting for the first time. It's a short walk to the centre of town and the wide variety of restaurants, shops and beaches. How often does one get to stay in such a unique setting!!

I Stayed here with 4 friends for 3 nights last week and we had the best time ever .. the rooms were amazing and worked with 2 sharing one suite and 3 of us another. We had so much space and 2 bathrooms for the 3 sharing. The hotel arranged transport from the airport to the hotel and then for our return journey. We were overwhelmed with how attentive ALL the staff were. From the breakfast team (breakfast was delicious ) to the pool staff who served cocktails, delicious rosè and lunch and moved sunbeds as needed and umbrellas to the reception team who couldn’t do enough plus recommending restaurants which were all fantastic. Then there’s the spa which was such a fun experience and my friend had a massage which she said was the best massage ever (she’s a massage expert) I couldn’t recommend this hotel more and cascais is a very special place

My wife and I stayed here recently on a golf tuition break, and loved it. It’s a beautiful hotel, and feels very luxurious and new. Our room was very nice — spacious, with a huge bed and sparkling bathroom (great shower!). We were lucky enough to have a view of the golf course, principally the second hole, and I spent a lot of time watching people tee off from the balcony. We weren’t on an all-inclusive rate, but still enjoyed plenty of food choices. The lower ground floor is essentially divided into three separate spaces — there’s the Rocca restaurant, for fine dining in the evening; Five Palms for the fairly substantial buffet breakfast; and our favourite, Trent Jones, which does excellent burgers, pasta and snacks. This is where we spent a lot of our time, particularly after realising that they were showing the English Premier League games! The staff were excellent — very courteous, knowledgeable and friendly. At one point they even let us have the remote control to choose our own games! We also spent quite a bit of time basking in the sun by the lovely outdoor pool. There’s also an indoor pool, which is heated (the outdoor pool is not, although you soon get used to it after a brisk dunk). But our main goal was to try to improve our golf game, and it’s here where Quinta da Marinha truly excels: Artur, the golf pro who gave us lessons, was wonderful and has really given us a solid basis, essentially teaching us the art of the golf swing from scratch. We really enjoyed the driving range, and I even got to play a couple of rounds on the wonderful 18-hole course. The 13th hole, with an incredible view of the Atlantic, is a must see! We loved it, and can’t wait to return to either this or the Boutique Hotel, where we also stayed for a few days. I’ll write a separate review for that — we had a golf course view there too! Highly recommended!

We’ve had the good fortune to stay in many great hotels around the world and this was one of our favorite experiences. From the efficient and friendly welcome from Luiza on arrival everything was exceptional. The room was large, immaculately clean and with a pleasant terrace looking out into the manicured gardens. My wife used the spa three times, all excellent experiences. We had breakfast every morning and as well as being of very high quality, the service was attentive, prompt and professional under the conscientious direction of Paulo. With so many great restaurants in Cascais, it would be easy to skip the hotel and that would be a big mistake. We ate in there twice, both excellent. Creative and skilled and also with the top notch service, we’d come to realize was the hotel’s trademark. The evening bar was pleasant, well staffed and an enjoyable end to the evening. The staff, without exception, were first class. Professional, courteous and thorough without being stuffy or obsequious. I do think there’s real credit due to the general manager. Standards start at the top. Even allowing for the fact that the Portuguese are a friendly and welcoming people, it was outstanding. Lastly, a quick mention for Vanessa, head of housekeeping. The whole facility is immaculate, room service prompt and efficient and again, a reflection of the leader’s standards. Only one thing; the WiFi is average at best; but then we didn’t go there to sit and look at our phones! The best hotels are the ones you’re sad to leave….but on the other hand, we’ll be back

Built originally in 1945 and extended in 1960's. Really different interior. Original blend with modern portugese architecture. Rooms really modern with everything you need. Staff cannot do enough for you. So helpful. Bar food just what you want. Restaurant food was delightful. Really really good chef. Scenery was mind blowing. You have to see the pool to believe what I an saying.

Came here for a couple of nights to play at the golf course. I spent a little more to get a Corner Sea Loft room which was great as it had a wrap around balcony with a massive amount of space, sun loungers etc and a full sea view. Other rooms I thought were strangely positioned and look to have small balconies and side views. Worth upgrading your room here I would say. First impressions, a super cool hotel. Very minimalistic and I can see why some reviewers would not like it all. I loved it though. Walking to my room for the first time was so cool. A huge wide long corridor with just one window at the very end looking straight out to sea. The closer you get the bigger this window gets. Like a really cool art gallery or something you would find in The Tate Modern. My room was enormous and excellent. Only issue was sound from above very audible. High heels, footsteps, scraping furniture etc. Surprised that happens in a newish built modern structure like this. Public areas a wee bit sterile for me. The bar seemed to be part of the restaurant and I wasnt comfortable sitting at it, which is something I always do in a Hotel. For a cool Hotel, they should have a better bar. Dinner was lovely, with an exceptional and knowledgeable sommelier who made super pairings. Staff were absolutely brilliant throughout. Very friendly and helpful and dressed immaculately. The only thing I did not like here was the breakfast. A let down and poor. One juice (concentrate?) no butter for toast, filter coffee (yuk) and a poor coffee machine that appeared to make espresso only. Eggs to order but little information on options? Omelettes? who knows. I got two poached eggs. Both came hard boiled, and had to be eaten with dry toast as no butter available. I didn't even bother with breakfast the day I left as its so poor. Seemed to be lots of cold meats and cheese about if thats your thing, it's not mine early in the morning. Cold cheese for breakfast is all wrong :-)

AAnonymous UserIt is a very good hotel ~ the atmosphere is very good ~ the hotel with historical heritage is fascinating ~
The room is spacious and comfortable
It is a hotel worth visiting again~
GGuest UserThe thing about ”boutique” hotels is they often have limited rooms with little consistancy between them. Often the hotel is a former mansion or castle that has been converted to create the accomodations. The rooms featured on the website often look amazing but many of the rooms are often former butler's pantries or attic rooms the crazy aunt lived in with alll her cats so you have to be careful when booking. This place has some of that. Had we ended up in a former little closet room in the corner, we would not have been happy here. Fortunately we had booked the designer room with a balcony facing the ocean (210) which was fantastic to enjoy the ocean views. We moved the long bench from in front of the bed onto the balcony during the day to use as a sun lounger. Room was smaller but had tall ceilings and nicely remodeled. Comfy bed and nice bathroom with shower with all kinds of water options plus toilets had heated bidet hose. It is important to know that the pool area is seasonal due to the close proximity to the ocean and doesnt open until mid-April. During much of year it is closed as the North Atlantic waves thrash over the pool area filling it with dirty sea water. The hotel should state this on their homepage to avoid guests feeling a bit misled. I attached some pictures showing the pool area we had without any lounges and water looking like a sewer discharge. The weather we had was sunny and hot yet couldn't use the pool so felt frustrated. I'm a daily lap swimmer so had been hoping to use the pool in the mornings for my swims. The view of the ocean with the crashing waves against the rocks made the stay very relaxing. Also it is a nice short walk to town with wonderful views along the way. Additionally it is a beautiful walk or run to the west along the rock cliffs by the ocean. Truly magical location. The hotel itself was lovely and ecclectic with fun art throughout. Hotel staff was very nice and the included a quality breakfast buffet was tasty and plentiful. We had to leave in the middle of the night for a very early flight out. The manager had take away lunches for us which was a nice touch. We booked the hotel in part because it was part of the AMEX Platinum Hotel collection which comes with some additional benefits if you have the card. We had been to Lisbon many times but so glad we discovered Cascais this time. Certainly will be back.
I had the best time here. Spent three nights and i wish i could have stayed much longer. The lovely House in Estoril and its beautiful garden made me feel right at home. Placed a bit uphill with the vibrant sea with it's magical views just a stones throw away. You have Easy access to everything you need. Loved it!
GGuest UserIt was a complete pleasure to stay st this wonderful hotel for many reasons. It’s location is simply fantastic within walking distance to everything. The rooms overlooking the beach are stunning. Rooms are spotless with excellent house keeping. Breakfast is a feast. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. The cherry on the cake is it’s great value for money. Thank you Hotel Baia I will definitely be back. Christina Gernon.
This hotel is all about location. It is bang in the centre and close to everything. We were in Cascais to support our son in the Iron Man competition and it was ideal. It was perfect to pop back and fore to and confirmed that yes you can get cheaper places miles away but the convenience of closeness trumps that. Staff were superb. Friendly helpful -nothing was too much for them. Breakfast was fine. It’s not the Ritz so don’t expect eggs Benedict etc. Similarly the rooms were adequate ,clean, with everything you needed. Would we go back there . Yes no hesitation
IILYAThe hotel is overall ok, but my experience is really controversial.
Pros:
Good value for money. The location is quite central. Clean rooms. Live music at the rest zone near the reception from time to time.
Cons:
Cleaning process is ruining the perception. No logic, no exact timing, they can even enter the room with a sign ”no disturb” on the door.
Sound proof is poor, so all external noises can be easily heard.
The reception people could be more friendly (smiling and saying ”hello” to customers when an eye contact is happening).
I haven't yet tried the breakfast.
Good hotel. I have a very pleasant stay here. Staff was friendly and professional. Nice and somehow trendy rooms. Rooms were clean, fresh and spacious. Also and my room came with a nice view. Minibar was available in the rooms. Only disadvantage might be that the hotel is located in a residential neighborhood. You will need to walk 1-2 streets before finding some buzz. Other than this, a perfect stay.
Amazonia hotel was a very good experience for our family. We loved the fact that the hotel have large appartments and that is was a small hotel. Lots of privacy and staff that was so helpfull with our plans. Trainstation very close and so easy to get to lisbon. Although soms things can be improvid we absoluty had a very pleasant stay. If you don't mind that the kitchen only have limited pans, you will be fine. Be aware for people with disibilaties. The street is a great workout, going uphill. The furniture needs replacment, and the beds for the children in the livingroom could use an upgrade. But then again housekeeping was very helpfull, every day we had the beds made up and the room cleaned. Breakfast was well organised. Each morning there were the basics from croisants, bread, eggs, fruits yohurts, and a surprise sweet roll from pasteis de nata to muffins.. the swimmingpool is very quite even in august and the hotel provides clean towels to use. The area was quite, and the room we stayed in was very cool even with the AC off. We are looking back on a great stay in estoril. In need of groceries? We used ubereats to deliver to the appartement. We hope to come back in the naar future, amazonia will be on our list for booking.
GGuest UserThere is a lot to say about this hostel but I'm not going to say just bad things because I stayed for two months It's a spacious place with a swimming pool near a train station, a wonderful beach for surfing and there are a lot of shops around The reception maintenance team is renewed quite often but generally they do their job well, they are people who come from afar for the most part, they are looking for recognition and a better quality of life. now we are going to talk about the big problems of this place caused by poor management of a surely negligent owner and one or more incompetent and irresponsible Manager During my stay here I saw five assaults, mostly on girls who work for the hostel. I never saw the owner or the Manager come to see anything or try to comfort his team, I had to intervene myself on aggressions inside the hostel to make the attackers leave we had to leave the place about ten days because of bedbug's On our return we had no compensation for this and the manager asked us to pay again the tourist tax that we had already paid, we should never have returned To newcomers, guests, or workers you can now have your own opinion before coming to these places think carefully many people left very quickly because they did not come to Europe to relive the same scenes of violence as in their country of origin. Cheers and enjoy your trip
