My wife, adult son and I stayed at the Carnarvon Central Apartments for one night in mid-November as part of our return from a road trip to Coral Bay. We booked via *******, paying $139CAD (approx AUD$125), including taxes, etc., for a “Standard apartment, 2 bedrooms, kitchen”, booking 2.5 weeks in advance Check-in was quick and easy. The attendant was very helpful in letting me know what had been done recently to the room in advance of our arrival, and invited me to call him if we needed anything or had any problems. The room was large, plain and basic but functional. The furnishings did look somewhat like they had been picked up from various garage sales. The bathroom was large, in part because it also contained the laundry facilities. The room came with a full, separate kitchen, as well as a back door to a small garden area. While it looked a bit worn, I wouldn’t call it “dumpy”. We were provided with a wifi code when we arrived, which was good for one day (unlimited data). However, it did not work after it was used on a first device. We assume these were single device, single use codes. We could have gone back to ask for more and we don’t know how that would have worked out. As we were a party of three, it is reasonable to assume that we would have each had at least two devices (in fact, we had 8 in total). We didn’t bother trying to get more codes, but it was a small frustration. We had stayed at a different property in the Carnarvon area on the outbound portion of this road trip. This place was probably no better or worse, but it was $AU75 cheaper. I still rate this as “average” and I struggle to describe it as a “high average” given the overall condition of the room. It was fine and there were no surprises. But other than the price, there wasn’t anything about the property or amenities that would boost the rating above a 3.
