Restaurants: It was challenging to get into restaurants although we were able to get a table for the Hamachi our last night which was fun for the family. Food was delicious! Over all food was ok quality but often items were out of supply. The cafe was great and we went there often for coffee and ice cream. Drinks were different quality depending on which bar prepared them. Pool service was great. The up-sell for the NYE party was awful and we saw many families struggling to get into the one restaurant that was open. It was a shame to see families with small children begging to get food service. Rooms: We had a family configuration and it worked well for us. Hotel amenities: Beach was very small and although we knew that it was still disappointing. We also used the wave riders a lot and I don’t understand why you don’t have them running all the time. My daughter and husband was have used all day every day if they were open. Other resorts we have been to had similar activities and they were open for more than an hour a day. Very weird. Shows: The nightly entertainment was fun. NYE party was also fun despite the very expensive upsell for a table We’ve been to Mexico over a dozen times and I definitely wouldn’t rate this hotel as luxury. It was nice for families with young children but I’d select another property if going with teens.

The highlight of our trip was being treated to such special and wonderful service by Reuben at the Bluewater Grill. We had him as our server the first night and he remembered us and made a point to say hello whenever he saw us around the resort. It is staff like Reuben who take such pride in their work that make a large resort like the Vista feel special.

We are wrapping up our New Year’s week here at Dreams Vista Cancun and it had its ups and downs. The general theme is that it is a nice resort, not luxury, and you need to know what you are getting into. It may be a great vacation for some but overpriced, especially for what you get. I am honestly surprised that this is part of the Hyatt collection and that is truly disappointing. Had this been independent, I wouldn’t have been surprised with the missteps. Have been to Cancun several times before and had much better experiences at other places. Several of the points below were brought to mgment attention and no interest in changing. Preferred Club- absolutely necessary if not travelling with younger kids and don’t want your entire vacation overrun with affluent, yet poor-mannered young children. BUT, the Preferred Club is not delivering value for its price. We travelled with an 18 and a 15.5 yr old. The room reservation process is very specific anyone 13 or older is an adult but that is not how they treat them on arrival. The website (buried a few pages in) discussed the rooftop Preferred pool for adults which is non-specific only to learn on arrival that it is truly 18+ and our mature teenager was relegated to the lower pools/beach where little kids were everywhere. This was crushing and ruined her vacation relaxation. Discussions with management got us nowhere even given the inconsistency of how they want your $ as an adult for the room. Resort clientele- Definitely a family resort for young kids. Do NOT come here if you do not want to be constantly surrounded them. And for a place that sells itself as luxury, most of the kids were uncontrolled and poorly mannered (this one is not on Dreams, but the other guests). They treated the outdoor hot tub like it was a group bath tub for play time with their floaties on, so could never go there. Loud ipads in all the nicer restaurants, parents never said to lower volume. More Preferred club- Other resorts give similar clubs the red-carpet treatment. Not here. At other resorts on check-in, we sat with the concierge and made dinner reservations at every restaurant for any time we wanted. Here there are no reservations and no reserved tables for Preferred club and are left to race for tables with the rest of the resort. Between 6-6:30 you can show up and get seated, but after that they start the wait list that is a horrible process where they guess when you should come back for a table and then wait some more. Only hibachi does reservations thru their app (again nothing reserved for Preferred club) and it books up by 10AM 2 dys in advance. Worst of all- another guest at the Preferred pool told me the preferred concierge made him multiple dinner reservations (potentially bc he booked thru Delta vacations) but no such treatment thru ******* VIP status. Further I am surprised how they still try to nickel and dime on top of the club such as the prime seats/couches at the Preferred poo

We spent the Christmas holiday week here with family and friends and overall felt this is a great place to get away and relax. We did the Preferred Club upgrade and were thankful we did. This was a lifesaver when other areas of the resort were crowded. With the exception of the UVC hustlers (more on that later), the staff is amazing, rooms always cleaned and food is great. The only thing about the food I would point out is at Vista Prime, don't bother with the extended menu that you pay for. I did order a 400g "dry-aged" ribeye and was surprised to be served a rather thin slab of meat. Otherwise, the main Pool is nice, large but sometimes a bit loud if you're on the lower levels. We spent most of our time at the Rooftop pool- quiet, small, for preferred, no kids and the view is amazing. We loved the spa; they really know what they're doing there for sure. The Rooms are not sound proof, your hear everything going on next door or outside the door. The Plunge pool is not worth the expense - it is not filtered or heated. Not sure how often it is cleaned, as we found a rigatoni noodle in ours and requested cleaning. Would not book room with this on another stay. Beach- A bit on the smaller side, water is somewhat clear, but we took a water taxi over to the Hotel Area and found these beaches and water to be incredible. A night and day difference with crystal clear beautiful water and white sandy beaches. The water quality at Dreams Vista is certainly a shortcoming, but that's just the nature of this location. So, the major downfall of Dreams Vista is the harassment surrounding the whole Vacation Club thing. I've never really experienced anything quite like this, but my take on it is annoying, disrespectful and offensive. We were sent to the preferred lounge at check in, waited for a concierge to sit with us to go through the check in process and get us to go to the Vacation Club breakfast. We said no thank you and could tell the fact that we were tired and hungry from travel and just wanted to go to our room was not well received. A couple days later, we were again approached on this, and were made to feel as though we offended the concierge for refusing to attend the presentation. This, of course, is ridiculous. The Vacation club breakfast presentation is NOT 90 minutes, its much more. On the day of our check-out, sitting in the Lobby lounge, we could see and overhear the uncomfortable experiences of other guests that we fortunately avoided. THEY ARE HIGH PRESSURE Sales, we heard one woman complain that she had already spent SIX HOURS of her vacation listening to the spiel. Another left the room speaking angrily over the treatment and appeared to be pressured to return. Dreams Vista - You need to understand that people work many hours just to spend one hour at your resort. While the overall experience is great, people do not work hard to receive a high pressure sales pitch for hours on their well-earned vacation. Please...hav
