My Mum and I had a one night stay at The Gallivant. We had a wonderful time - everything from the food to the wine to the board games to the amazing staff made our stay absolutely perfect. It rained heavily the entire time but that didn’t matter as the place is so cosy with lots of snugs to relax in. We can’t wait to return as soon as possible!

Fashion changes but Style never goes out of Fashion.. The Gallivant oozes style with a capital S!..👍 Warmly greeted on the afternoon of October 8th for our 1 night stay by Lyndsay 😊👍.. Our allocated, 🐕 friendly room was #17 which exceeded expectations 🤩.. It would be easy to wax lyrical about the Gallivant, however;suffice to say, it deserves all the plaudits it has received in the hospitality industry ..👍⭐. Aside from Lyndsay, Marianna & Nikita deserve a mention as do the combined kitchen team 👍😋. The reimagining of their breakfast offering is IMO a winner 🏆. A return for more than 1 night is guaranteed.. Thankyou ' Gallivanters'

From the first welcome through the door The Gallivant is a wonderful bolt hole. Stress free, amazing hosting (especial praise to Nikita who’s front of house skills are worthy of the recent Michelin Key and Tiffany who makes a mean Old Fashioned and Margarita) and an idyllic setting means this is the sort of place you plan your next stay at before you’ve even left. The food is rightly praised and all locally sourced but you can read about that on all the other reviews. The fact that locals come in to visit, feast, or just while away the evening is testimony to the all-round excellence Great walks nearby, not just on Camber Sands but a 55 mins walk to Rye

Small rooms , but nice and clean it unfortunately falls down on service, had to wait 45 mins for a dozen oysters to arrive at our table and things didn’t improve from there. Also told they had to know what time we wanted breakfast so they could take pressure of the kitchen staff , understandable until you realise breakfast is not even cooked.

Booked the restaurant for a family dinner as we were visiting the area. Sad to report the food was decidedly underwhelming, we had celeriac soup to start which was so bland, mussels for a main but were the smallest molluscs and portion size I have ever seen and a basque cheesecake for dessert, which was edible. Service was average at best but with the prices being charged expected more, a whole lot more in fact, fell a long way short in terms of flavour, presentation and quality. It completely lacks substance and would suggest that management review what is happening in the restaurant based on our experience.

Perfect one night stay at The Gallivant. We chose The Complete Gallivant package and were delighted with everything, from the tea and cake at 4pm, to the sundowner cocktail at 5:30pm and the yoga class the next morning. Both dinner and breakfast were excellent, and we were surprised at the wide amount of choice on the set dinner menu. We had a garden room which was lovely (would recommend spending that bit more for this) and a massage the next morning in the Bamford cabin finished off a glorious short visit.

We celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary this weekend at The Gallivant. Camber Sands holds very fond memories for me from my childhood and The Gallivant has helped me to create more memories this weekend with my husband. The staff were all super friendly, very accommodating and really attentive. There was a slight mis hap Friday evening in the restaurant with my main course and again Saturday morning with my husbands breakfast but the lovely lady on reception (apologies I cannot remember everyone’s names!) went above and beyond to ensure we were well catered for. The chef Saturday evening went above and beyond ensuring I had a suitable vegetarian option for my dishes and for breakfast Sunday the staff were really accommodating. The room we had was delightful really clean and spacious with an amazing calming vibe. The evening turn down with sleepy tea and pillow mist was a fantastic touch. The sundowners again were a really lovely touch. The treatments we had were fantastic again another fabulous member of the team! I did yoga on the beach Saturday with Katie and again Sunday had a 1:1 yoga session with Katie both were absolutely fantastic. To everyone at The Gallivant thank you for making our stay so special we will definitely be returning when we need to re charge our batteries once again! You are doing so many things right!

Always wanted to stay here given the reviews so popped in for lunch when visiting Rye. Food was nice but expensive at just under £100 for 2 mains, 2 drinks and 2 coffees. Beware: they charge you £3.50 for tap water (hey it’s filtered!). Service was very friendly but the location is not what I envisaged. It’s on a busy road and to access the beach you have to cross said road and a large car park and then climb a steep sand dune. The only outdoor space at the hotel (apart from its car park) is a crowded terrace of outdoor tables and relaxed seating which must get very busy. Glad I didn’t stay at a cost of £500pn
