Had afternoon tea here yesterday and I have to say it was an amazing experience. Room was decorated for Christmas, the fire was on and the table set - the atmosphere was just perfect. The food was first class. The customer service second to none. Just wonderfully seasonal. Can't recommend it highly enough.

Excellent , excellent. The hotel is very charming, the staff very attentive and food fantastic. The room was large with seating area and a king-size bed with large bathroom which had a jacuzzi. I didn't want to leave and have booked to come again.

This was a very poorly maintained property for which we have been charged an exorbitant price. The room was very dated and shabby, unclean and dirty. the tap came off in my hand when pouring a bath. The pillows were lumpy and the bed uncomfortable. The floorboards creek very loudly which makes for a noisy nighttime as you can hear other people moving around. There was also loud music coming from somewhere in the hotel which started at 4 am and lasted until around 8 am - we're not sure where it was coming from, perhaps the bar downstairs which was closed at the time - it sounded like elevator music on a loop - awful. We had little sleep and were very happy to leave. We paid almost £300 for one night here and it was most certainly not worth it. Would avoid it in future and highly recommend anyone reading this review does the same. The staff are very pleasant though and completely understand that the property has been seriously neglected which is unfortunate for them as they have to deal with the customer complaints. Amanda in the Bothy restaurant was particularly lovely and the food and service there were great. Breakfast was fine too. We had booked a superior room - I dread to think what a standard room would be like.

Very beautiful hotel in Calander that was once an old hunting lodge. Inside there is a magnificent library and living room that hide a secret and claustrophobic chapel that is worth visiting. The breakfast is very good and the service from Gillian at the front desk is excellent. Always very loving and with all the patience in the world. Curiously, the best thing about this hotel is its magnificent outdoor gardens. Some of the most beautiful we have seen in a private accommodation on our month-long trip through Scotland. I got tired of taking pictures in different spots of these awesome gardens. The establishment is located very close to the most important trails to visit in the area. Highly recommended!

The hotel is charming. It may be getting a bit tired in spots, but that adds to its charm. Our room, the yellow parlor, was enormous with a comfortable seating area. The shower had great water pressure. The bed was comfortable. The common rooms in the hotel are lovely and cozy. There was a fire going in the parlor. The grounds are pleasant. We saw several deer. Breakfast was elegant and delicious. We ate in The Bistro both nights and the food was very good.

We had an overnight stay here, dinner and breakfast We were made to feel very welcome, and the staff attentive. and efficient. The whole hotel exudes a traditional charm and elegance. Our room was very elegant, with a jaccuzzi bath and superb shower. There are several sitting rooms all beautifully furnished with comfortable sofas and chairs. The fires were lit as weather is beginning to feel autumnal. The gardens and extensive grounds are fabulous. Now to the food! Easily the best food we have ever had anywhere. Beautifully presented and delicious. Canapés were stunning! Breakfast was up to a very high standard. We would definitely recommend this lovely place and would love to return.
