We visited during half term. We arrived at around 7pm and Royal Level Reception was closed so we were assisted at the main reception. We were offered someone to walk us over to our accommodation but declined, as assumed it wouldn't be far away. The accommodation is quite a walk away, particularly with luggage and children in tow, so it's a shame we weren't offered a buggy ride to take us across. There's also no lighting turned on on the steps, so struggled a little to see where we were going with the low light. The room appeared clean on arrival and tastefully furnished and decorated. On closer inspection in daylight, tables could have done with a thorough wipe down and after 30 mins of being inside the room, my socks were dirty and were also covered in hairs. Floors didn't seem to be mopped. Our main door didn't close or open easily and housekeeping hadn't fully closed it one day, so we were just able to push it open without using the key card. Not very secure. We had to really put some effort into closing/opening it each time. No blind/curtain on one of the windows of the lounge area where my children were sleeping, so we ended up using a bed runner as a makeshift curtain. The bathroom smells of sewage at times and the air con created a sewage smell at various points of our stay. The same smell was often on the street outside so I assume the air con unit was drawing in this air and not filtering it properly. Credit to the housekeepers as I think they're short staffed and have a lot of work to get through so do the best they can. They were always friendly and kind. One of our children became ill and was vomiting, so I asked for more water which the lovely housekeeper provided. Our children were kindly gifted Halloween themed marshmallow lollies in our room and we placed these on the dining table in their packaging. We woke up the next day to find ants all over them. We also found dust mites all around the coffee machine area of the side board. Noise from The Show Factory was irritating when my 6 year old was trying to sleep. Loud live music played from around 9pm-10.30pm each night so avoid room 2112 and the other rooms nearby if you have young children. You could hear every word of every song, it's that loud and that's with the windows shut too. On a positive note, it sounded great. The resort itself seems generally understaffed and this was very obvious in the Royal Level El Ancla restaurant and the bar in front of this. Staff are all doing their best but mainly seemed fed up and stressed out. We felt like we were an inconvenience most of the time and it felt difficult to order anything with staff avoiding eye contact. We waited in the bar for 10-15 mins for table service on a few occasions then we'd try the bar where we were told we had to sit back down at the table and await table service. The staff would then eventually serve us at the bar but begrudgingly. This became frustrating. We were half board and grateful we weren't all inclusive a

We spent 4 nights at the Barceló Fuerteventura Royal Level – Adults Only - to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. Our room was clean, but maintenance issues detracted from our comfort. The sofa needed a deep cleaning, and the main balcony railing was loose and felt unsafe, which was particularly concerning. The bedroom balcony, on the other hand, had no furniture at all—just an empty space, which seemed like a missed opportunity for enjoying the outdoors. The bathroom was spacious, with a good-sized shower, but the shower door lacked a bottom track. This caused the glass door to swing inwards and felt unstable. It also left a gap at the floor level, resulting in water soaking the bathroom floor every time we used it. Upon arrival, the bed was made up as two singles instead of the king we had expected. While housekeeping quickly addressed this when we informed reception, the noise from our room location remained a problem. Being on the first floor at the back of the resort, we were exposed to constant road noise and live music from a nightclub across the street, which blared until 1 a.m. nightly. The live entertainment from the pool bar was also audible from our balcony. A poorly fitted door with large gaps only amplified these issues. When we raised our concerns with reception, they said the resort was fully booked and no alternative rooms were available. We mentioned several times during check-in and our discussions with reception that this was our 25th wedding anniversary—a milestone trip for us. No one even acknowledged it, let alone made any effort to make our stay special. For context, when we celebrated our 15th anniversary at a different hotel, they surprised us with a small gesture of a bottle of Prosecco and chocolate-covered strawberries. We didn’t expect anything extravagant, but even a simple “Happy Anniversary” would have gone a long way. The resort itself was clean, and the facilities were well-maintained. However, the pool area suffered from the common issue of guests “reserving” loungers with towels as early as 7 a.m., only to leave them empty for hours. A pool lounger assignment system would help resolve this frustrating situation. The food was a big disappointment. We were shocked by the low quality and poor presentation at both the adults-only buffet and the main resort buffet. Salad Bar: Mostly prepackaged or tinned items like bagged salad mix, tinned mushrooms, and sweetcorn. Salad dressings were unlabelled, making it unclear what was being offered. Charcuterie: While visually appealing, nothing was labelled, and not every platter had tongs or forks, leading to guests handling food with their hands. Hot Food: This was the most disappointing. The selection felt more like a children’s menu, with frozen fried items such as chips, mozzarella sticks, spring rolls, and croquettes. One day at lunch, we saw what appeared to be a pulled pork pizza. However, upon tasting it, we realised it was not pork at all—it was tinned

Let's start with the plus points because there are certainly some. The resort looks beautiful. When you arrive you immediately have the holiday feeling. Palm trees etc. Reception is exceptionally friendly. Everything was neatly explained. If you want you can be driven to your room with a buggy, we walked so we could view the resort. The swimming pool is beautiful, the beds are wonderful. The restaurant has the best food we have ever had at Barcelo. Really high quality. Every evening a different theme but always something you like. The room or actually villa is spacious, lovely beds, nice sitting area, 2 wardrobes so enough space for all your clothes. The villa is exceptionally clean and the cleaning is very good. So you would think a perfect stay. But then the biggest minus. Despite the fact that they advertise that they keep a strict eye on reserving pool beds, there is no sign of this. At 7am in the morning people are already running to the pool to claim beds. Because of this there are no more beds available after 9am. the pool opens at 10am by the way. and are those people going to lie down at 10am, no way. we have seen beds occupied for the entire day several times without having seen anyone on them. even when we indicated to the staff that some beds were reserved but no one was lying down, no action was taken. this means that you are actually forced to participate if you want a day at the pool. this was not what we were hoping for because of their own rules, and this negatively affected a very large part of the holiday.

This was our first time at the Barceló Fuerteventura Royal Level Adults Only. It was recommended by a friend and didn’t fall short of expectations, the level of service from all the staff is exceptional. The food was excellent with a wide variety to cater for all tastes and a good selection of drinks. The bar was my favourite with great selection of cocktails and spirits, and waiter service. The room was lovely and modern with a really good bathroom, air conditioning and televisions in the living room and bedroom. There was also a kettle, coffee machine and mini bar. The total location is excellent literally straight across from the beach, which is also lovey clear water if you fancy a swim.

Second stay at Barcelo Fuerteventura Royal Level Adults Only this year. I do love this hotel - lovely rooms, beautiful pool, great location - and I will return BUT for a 4 star hotel there’s definitely some room for improvement here, especially given the price. 1. The food is still luke warm and I think this is the main criticism everyone has in reviews but Barcelo don’t appear to act on this information. Come on Barcelo, do something about it! Hot food such be hot not luke warm. 2. There’s plenty of food to choose from but it’s not always clearly labelled and sometimes there appears to be a theme but it’s not clear what the theme is. Advertise this! Put it in the app! 3. Housekeeping has unfortunately been very much a miss for me in my 4 nights here. Day 1 they took my hand and bath/shower mat and didn’t replace them so I had to order more through the app. Day 2 I wasn’t given any complimentary water, informed reception through the app and was told housekeeping would bring some - it never arrived. Day 3 I got water but they only cleaned the shower in the bathroom and left the sink. I would suggest you issue housekeeping with a check list and that you raise standards - it’s not currently at 4 star standard! None of this is enough to stop me from returning… but when I’m paying Barcelo prices I do expect perfection!!
