Ein sehr nettes Hotel, welches erst seit 1 Jahr in Betrieb ist, und in den Bergen liegt. Die Zimmer sind sehr hell und modern eingerichtet. Dort waren wir für 2 Nächte während unserer Rundreise untergebracht. Das Frühstück war nach japanischer Art und wurde am tisch serviert, was natürlich etwas gewöhnungsbedürftig war, aber trotzdem sehr gut war.

This hotel provided great service and clean accommodations. I love that hotels in Japan provide pajamas and toothbrushes. This hotel had two public baths. It's nice that they have one bath where the water is not as hot. We had the dinner buffet. It included American and chinese offerings. You receive a ticket for one serving of the Hida beef. I thought the food was good. I like that the portions are small, so you can try a lot of things. We also had the breakfast buffet which included Takayama specialty items too. There is a large souvenir shop in the hotel, so you are able to pick up gifts. I thought the prices are comparable to other gift shops. The hotel offers a free shuttle to the train station. It is a 7 minute walk to the train station, so it's not so bad. They only have two shuttles that go to Takayama Jinya (government house) which is across the bridge from Sanmachi Suji. Otherwise it's at least a 20-25 minute walk. I wish they had more shuttles to that area. There is not much to look at on the way from the hotel to Sanmachi. As Takayama becomes more popular with tourists, most of the hotel staff and store owners are able to communicate in English. Overall, I enjoyed my time at the hotel and would stay there again.

We were lucky to stay at Mercure Takayami on their opening night. Everything about the hotel was above our expectations. Rooms were a very comfortable with attention to detail. Having USB and USB C charging ports for our electronics next to the bed was very convenient and meant we didn't need to search for our Japan power adaptors. This hotel has been well designed with a focus on local traditional carpentry and joinery skills. When you book this hotel make sure you book a room that includes access to the private Onsen. We had an open-air experience while we watched the snow from our private onsen. Breakfast had an extensive range of Tradition Hida dishes and Western choices, with different options available each day. This was a great way to try Hida Beef Curry and Hida chicken cooked on a traditional grill. Staff were very helpful going above and beyond with their dedicated and personal service, even searching the internet for me to find a store that sold Yama Cola. We will be back to stay again and will try to stay longer next time.

A new hotel just built in front of Takayama station. It is a stay type hotel, but artists are decorated everywhere and fashionable. This time, Superior twin. The room itself is not particularly characteristic, but there is a sofa on the window side and it can be relaxed. This sofa is a bed, so you can stay for three people. Electric pots, empty refrigerators, washing dryers, microwave ovens, etc. are also complete. Recommended for long stay. The bathroom is small in the unit. Especially the toilet is small. There is a comfortable public bath, so I wanted to relax the toilet part only by shower. Amenities are only toothbrushes, and amenities are available on the first floor. Shaving, brush, tea bags such as tea and green tea, cosmetics, cotton swabs, cotton, etc. The public bath is also fashionable with designer specifications. There is also an open-air bath. You can enjoy two different design hot springs in the men and women replacement system. The atmosphere is like a public bath in a luxury inn. It doesn't seem to be in front of the station. There are also view lounges and foot baths on the top floor. Convenient location and recommended for sightseeing and business. The staff has a level difference depending on the person. Because it is a new hotel, is it possible?

One of my favorite stays! Check-in was easy although required to fill some digital form on the hotel tablet. The room was very spacious. Well maintained and clean. Gorgeous view of the town from the window. There are free male/female public baths in this hotel which swaps in between timings! Love the public bath it was a good experience. I also am appreciative of the free coffee and tea machine, and the Hoshizaki water dispenser at the lobby area. Location is extremely convenient, less than 5 minutes walk from Takayama Station and the Bus Centre as well. Only thing is the walk to the hotel from the station is not sheltered so might be troublesome if raining. Convenience stores and plenty local food shops around the hotel area too. Would definitely come back again if ever visiting Takayama.

Nice hotel, location is close to the bus station. Many places to eat in walking distance to the hotel. As with most hotels in Japan, they NEVER allow early check in. Even if it’s 5 minutes too early, you stand and wait until the power of the key is handed over!
Breakfast was nice, coffee was not. Only two laundry machines in the whole hotel. Overall a nice hotel in Takayama.

Location is convenient and overall service is good but there are better choices around definitely. Dinner and breakfast spread quite limited. Nice view of the garden but on 2 occasions the elderly Japanese just ignored the reserved tag I placed on the table and took my seats… suggest to place a more visible belongings to reserve it. Western room is adequate 18sqm. Poor noise cancellation as noise echos 20m down the hallways, metal room doors slamming, chairs dragging and phone vibrates in the next room can be heard. Not recommended if you’re a light or early sleeper, especially guests moving in/out along the corridors to take onsen bath. The hotel also hosts tour groups. Witnessed a tour group of Europeans. Koreans speaking on phone at hallways…etc.

Free parking is large and there is a second parking lot. There is also a convenience store opposite, which is convenient. In the lobby, you can enjoy the atmosphere of Hida Takayama, such as the retro colors of Hida Takayama and the decoration of Hanamochi. The room is double and you can't feel the size alone. You can spend your time comfortably with equipment such as independent air conditioner and large TV. You should take a bath in the large communal bath and open-air bath. It is a weak alkaline (pH8.2) hot spring, and the skin is smooth. The open-air bath with natural stones is comfortable with the murmuring of the river and is lit up at night. I was impressed that the flowers of the hot water were in bloom. Breakfast is buffet style. The menu is normal, but there are many vegetable dishes from Hida Takayama. Surprisingly, I'm happy to have delicious morning curry. I was satisfied with the hotel with three beats of rooms, hot springs and meals.

This hotel is centrally located, just next to the Mercure. You leave your shoes in a locker and walk along the common areas barefooted or wearing socks. It's quite a hassle putting on shoes in the reception area to leave the hotel. The drawback of this system is that some guests remove the shoe cabinet keys when they check out. There's a pair of sandals in the room which you wear when you go to the toilet. This is different from other hotels in Japan where you can wear the sandals around the hotel. The onsen area is certainly superior. Photo is the view from my room.

The hotel is only 1 block across the JR station with many restaurants around the area, less than 10 minutes leisure walk to the historic area. Room is very well maintained and spacious, with comfortable beddings, strong showers. The hotel is very responsive with my emails and questions, I feel that they are really trying their best to accomodate my request with occupant change that we really appreciate. Breakfast is adequate with a good selection of hot dishes, Japanese and continental. Overall a great hotel in Takayama

AAnonymous UserA wonderful experience. Our stay at this ryokan made us thankful that we decided to kickoff our holiday at Takayama and stay for 4D3N! Everything was impeccable. From the service of their team, the cleanliness of their accommodation (& of your luggage and shoes!) and the breakfast spread served. My first time sleeping on futon beds and it was comfortable. Also especially love that they have both private bath and public onsen, and complimentary use of washing and drying machines (detergent is chargeable but affordable). Not forgetting that the place is also very conveniently located near the train and bus station. Really enjoyed our stay!

GGuest UserFrom the time I arrived by car to the time I checked in, I felt a welcome hospitality. There was a coffee service in the lobby lounge. The room was a room plan, and it was a Japanese room ８ tatami & wide edge. In the inn, as I spent almost on the wide edge with a chair, the window was small facing the parking lot, the ceiling was diagonal, and the head hit the threshold, so I said this room might be a translation. The Japanese room was normal, and the room had two keys and Wi-Fi. yukata can be selected for women. There is also cold water and electric pot. The bath was a source of Ni kind, with an open-air bath of sulfur spring and simple spring, and there were two open-air baths and two cherry blossom baths. From the simple spring of the open-air bath, the mountain of Hotaka 々 was desired. The inner bath is sulfur spring. The hot water flowers are sinking. The open-air bath was also large and impressed with the very good hot spring. The laundry wash area has amenities. Dinner was in the large hall and the space between tables was also sufficient. The Hotaka Kai seat was satisfied. Especially the cold tea bowl steaming of HIDA milk and HIDA mozzarella and the pottery plate baking of HIDA beef were especially delicious. Also dessert (cheese cake, caramel pudding was delicious, HIDA melon and pine were sweet. sake was first asked for a cold sake of local sake, but later, a cold sake of local sake was ３ books and is currently discounted at 2000 I noticed that there was a circle later and I had a ３ book set. I enjoyed the difference between the sake ３ seeds and each taste. The meal attendant feels good, and the chakkaman is also on the table. So it was good to bake meat or bake at your favorite time. Breakfast was the same venue. If you are young, you may not have a volume, but it was a good amount for us in mature years. There is also coffee and tea service. It is a hotel in front of the ropeway in Hotaka. I thought it was good to stay at a hotel with good hot springs, meals and customer service, and to come far.

I cannot recommend this ryokan enough!! We stayed for two nights end of March/start of April. The staff were so friendly and patient, taking time to explain aspects of the hotel, onsen, and how to wear the traditional clothes. They made the evening meal and breakfast so accessible to foreigners by explaining each element, and a menu in English also helped! The new ladies onsen nextdoor allows you try different onsen locations, and I would really recommend a massage! I lucked out by going over at 3pm and had the onsen to myself! You will leave feeling so relaxed and well taken care of! We luckily had a room with river views which was stunning and a balcony to enjoy a cup of tea from and watch the people below. What an amazing way to unwind from the travel and rushing around the big city. The walks around the town are easy to get to from this hotel, and their shuttle service to and from the station is so helpful, and the drivers are so friendly!! We absolutely loved our stay, and it has rejuvenated us for our onward travel. Thank you so much to all the staff!

And from the hotel also easy to discover the area and walk around! The staff was friendly but the hotel is more set-up as to do it yourself! There is a public bath with different times for men & women. And you can choose your pillow. In the public area downstairs there are some vending machines and some drinks are free!

MMGG82Vicinissimo alla stazione, si raggiunge in pochi minuti l'edificio, si prende la scala mobile e si sale al primo piano dove è presente la reception. Le stanze doppie sono nella media delle stanze giapponesi, quindi piccole, ma tutto sommato tranquille. Nell'hotel è presente servizio di lavanderia fai-da-te ed è possibile (anche se non ci sono andato) usufruire dell'onsen; difficoltà di comunicazione con il personale della reception. La cosa più simpatica dell'hotel resta il sarubobo gigante (ossia la bambola-amuleto tipica della cittadina) che staziona all'ingresso della reception. Consigliato per chi è di passaggio per Takayama e per chi vuole una base di partenza per la visita al caratteristico paese di Shirakawa-go.

Immediately from the east building where the front lounge is located, the south building. There is a footbath at the end of the aisle and towels are also placed. Take the elevator to the ６ floor. Be careful as the elevator door closes early. The view from the room is mountains. The twin is large enough. The toilet and washroom in the unit bath are good. It's a pity that there is only one room key １. The large communal bath is on the １ floor of the East Building. There is no replacement for men and women. There are about 10 showers in the indoor bath. There is also an open-air bath. Charcoal is burned in the fireplace in front of the entrance of the indoor bath. There are also billiards. There is a heated pool with a depth of 90 cm outside. Although it is not big, there are few hotels in Okuhida with a pool. The meal is Fuyo, a suzuya on the 2nd floor of the East Building, and Japanese food is served with evening breakfast. It is good that there is no tempura in the kaiseki. Alcohol is cheap. There are two smoking areas, the terrace in front of the lobby of the East Building and the wooden deck outside the rest area with the fireplace in the South Building. The next day, around 13:00, I got on a slope car and went to the famous mixed bath open-air bath ”Yari no Yu”. The largest area in Okuhida, certainly wide. If the weather is nice, you can see Mt. Yarigatake. The man is half-pants style. Women wear shoulder-style bathing clothes. There is a dehydrator in the changing room for women, but not for boys.

The hot water was good. The open air smells of sulfur and pours a large amount of hot water. Perhaps it was a matter of timing, but the hot springs were empty and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. Also, although it is a mixed bathing zone, there is an explanation about bathing, so if you know in advance that it is such a hot spring, you can enter with confidence. However, the mixed bathing zone was even more empty than the open-air zone, and there were times when I thought I was the only one there for about 5 minutes. The green hot water on the homepage is there. I wonder if mixed bathing is a high hurdle even if you wear a bathing suit. I'd like to write that you don't have to worry about it that much. By the way, I haven't been to Tennosen. I guess that's a bit of a hurdle. I was satisfied because the room was relatively large. For dinner, I had reserved a Hida beef steak set meal, so I had it. I was surprised that the menu was the same for elementary school students, only there was less rice and the coffee jelly was replaced with ice cream. Perhaps because we ate early, the restaurant was empty and had a somewhat lonely atmosphere. Maybe everyone moves later. The taste and tenderness of the steak was good, but the boiled food seemed to be spicy and my child didn't like anything other than meat. I think the seasoning was definitely more mature. You can order breakfast at check-in, but you can only choose a morning set. Bread, ham and eggs (the type that is warmed from the bottom with a blue candle flame), yogurt, and a drink bar. Again, there are not many people. It was around 8 o'clock, but was it late? Maybe it was the weekend, but there weren't that many people staying there? I don't think there are many breakfast points around here, but it's really a mystery whether everyone leaves early or brings their own food. By the way, the drink bar is poor, with cola and Calpis out of stock. Also, there is a separate machine for the coffee, and it looks like it makes drip coffee, but the taste was a bit off. I wondered if the beans weren't rotating because there weren't many people using it. The taste was not bad for both breakfast and dinner, but I felt like they were missing something in the way they were presented. Compared to the price, I guess they are trying their best, but the atmosphere, especially the food, is a bit disappointing. I thought it was used less by children. I don't think it's a good thing that many children use it, but the hot springs are definitely good. I would like people to read the warnings carefully before entering the mixed bathing zone, but I wonder if mixed bathing is psychologically difficult to enter in the first place. Although the hot water was nice, I felt it was a waste.

TthetravellinghopiaCountry Hotel Takayama is the perfect home away from home in Takayama, Gifu Japan.This hotel is located right across the Nohi Bus Terminal which is right beside to Takayama Train Station. When you get off from the bus, you will immediately see the building. Aside from their perfect location, this hotel also has a KONBINI (are Japanese convenience stores) Family Mart at the ground floor, open 24 hours. Morning markets, Sakurayama Hachimangu Shrine, Old Town Street, Hida Kokubunji Temple and Nakabashi bridge are a few tourist location you can easily access by walking (10-15 minutes) from the hotel. I was here last February 24 to 26, 2020. The room is quite spacious for me, got a single room type but I think it can accommodate 2 people in it. I was able to booked it online through Agoda.com for Php 4,024.78, not bad! It has complete basic amenities you can find in a room including a comfy sleeping robe. Room is super clean and smells so good. Considering I wrongly booked the smoking type room. The only downside I had about the room was that the heater was broken. It was so hot inside, thanked God it was winter time so I just slightly opened my window. So cold breeze from the outside can get in. Overall, Country Hotel Takayama is HIGHLY RECOMMEND aside from their perfect location. Staff are very good, speaks English and really helpful and accommodating. Their Manager helped me booked a taxi who is going to picked me up at the highway on my route to Gujo Hachiman. Because taxis in Gujo Hachiman are booked a day before your arrival and they don’t speak English at all. And If you’re a Filipino, you are most likely going to bumped into one of our kababayan who is working on this hotel. So far, she’s the only Pinoy here and she speaks Bisaya, from Davao City. GGuest UserHiratakan, located @ Hirayu Onsen we experienced the best ryokan. The check-in process was smooth. The room was super clean with great amenities. Hirataken is located 200 meter from the bus stand to Kamikochi. We were hiking Mt Hotakadake the next morning and the gentleman very kindly asked us to park our car at the hotel. We explored Hirayu in the evening and it was beautiful with free public onsens everywhere. In fact there is one onsen right opposite to Hirataken and we dipped our tired feet the next day after we finished our Mt Hotaka hike and it was so relaxing. We loved our stay at Hirataken and would definitely recommend it to other travelers.

GGuest UserAs the inn's brochure says, ”It feels like it happened a long time ago.” This is an inn where time passes by. The name “Hina no Yu” is “Hina No Hina”. The room was large, about 12 tatami mats, and had a bed, table and chair set. There was also a wide veranda and a porch surrounding the room. The restroom also has a standing restroom for men, and I mentioned that it's rare for an inn to have a men's restroom. When I asked later, I was told that this room was only for boys. Even though I turned off the air conditioner, there was a nice breeze coming in from outside, and I could hear the chirping crows, and we both took a nap after taking a bath. The hot spring had a slight smell of sulfur. The indoor bath was hot and the outdoor bath was lukewarm, which was very comfortable during this hot season. It is a good hot spring with flowing water directly from the source. There are no lotions in the bathroom, so it is better to bring the amenity set provided in your room. There is a rest area near the bath. As I was drinking cold tea, a cool breeze came in from outside through the screen door, and I felt nostalgic for summers before, thinking, ``It's so cool in the evening.'' It's too hot everywhere now. Takahara-juku in the summer is nice and cool. In the rest area, videos of Hotaka and Mt. Yarigatake were shown on the TV, and I watched them while relaxing and drinking something cold. Dinner was served in a private room in a different room. The hinamori was a colorful appetizer with lots of different kinds of seasonal summer vegetables. The sashimi was rock fish and local salmon, the grilled fish was grilled sweetfish, and the ceramic grilled bite-sized steak was Hida beef. The rice was unique and could be eaten as is. A glass of local sake was 660 yen and went well with the food. Breakfast was also served in a private room. The overnight-dried puffer fish and tofu were delicious, and I ended up having a second helping of rice with grilled magnolia miso. After the meal, we had coffee in the lounge in the front area. The coffee cup was in a cup warmer, which was a nice touch since I like hot coffee. Especially in the winter, when you're servicing coffee, the cup gets cold and the coffee ends up lukewarm. In the lounge, there was relaxing classical music playing. It's a shame because it's only cash-only when paying, or because I'm a cashless person. I felt that the quiet landlady and the host had a firm concept for the inn. I entered the hot springs at 2pm and left at 11am, and it was a really relaxing stay.
