Stayed two nights, having booked two rooms in advance. We appeared not to have been expected as we were sent away as rooms were not ready. We had arrived at 14.40 for 15.00 hr checkin. The gentleman in the bar was eating his lunch, he did not get up. Upon our return some time later we got our rooms. Carpet needed a clean and a vacuum. The bed was ok, the bed linen spotless but the throw was grubby and needed a wash. The room we were in was hot, the window opened beside a noisy fan which was on all evening and then came on again in the middle of the night. There was a huge gap at the bottom of the bedroom door. The room was upstairs with a separate entrance to the pub but there was no lock on the outside door. there was no bulb in the bedside light, and the light in the second room we had booked was held together with tape, yet had passed a recent PAT test. There were no meal’s available at the Nelson. We were told the chef had just left, but a large blackboard appeared below our window that said breakfast served from 8am. The price charged does not represent value for money, we contemplated leaving and loosing our second night but that would have affected our arrangements and reasons for being in Burnham Market. The Nelson has good car parking and is well located for North Norfolk.

This was our fourth stay at the Nelson, and it was another enjoyable experience. We stayed in the annexe, which is a little more expensive than the accommodation within the pub. It was worth it, though to gain the extra space. The food in the restaurant was good. We were a little disappointed that our first choice was unavailable, but our second choice was well cooked and plentiful. I think vegans may struggle to find suitable food, though the veggie lasagne may be ok if it is made with non dairy cheese. Alternatively, as the pizzas are made from scratch it would be possible to have a veggie pizza made without cheese - the staff here are very accommodating. On previous occasions muesli has been available for breakfast, but this choice wasn't available on our visit. However any disappointment was short lived, as the vegetarian breakfast was great, and the grilled kipper was delicious - a proper kipper, none of that dreadful 'boil in the bag' stuff that some establishments serve up. Staff members were helpful and friendly. I didn't recognise them from previous visits, so maybe there has been a change in proprietor. We will definitely be back for another stay.

Really big and spotlessly clean room with lovely hot shower. Found it really difficult to choose between selection of dishes in the pub. The sea bream didn’t disappoint, by far the best fish dish I’ve had for a long time. Friendly staff and good beer and wine too.

We stayed at the Nelson 4 years ago. Having survived the lockdown and several illnesses we needed a break. We are very fond of the North Norfolk Coast the Nelson has a room with twin beds which we prefer. The room was clean and the pub restaurant serves excellent food. We are looking forward to our fourth visit sometime next year. The staff are very pleasant and friendly. Everyone remember us from four years ago. It is always nice to be remembered. Pauline and Stuart are excellent host!

The location is great. The staff are friendly and helpful. We had food the first night we stayed there and it was very well presented and delicious. The room was very clean and the beds are soft and comfy. There are all the normal amenities that you would expect. The shower is very powerful and better than I usually find in hotels. Wifi is slightly patchy if you are not staying near the main pub building. They have BT Mini Hubs, which you can connect to using the same password as the main Wifi, but they can be sporadic with speed. The extractor fan for the bathroom came up when you turned the light on. It was very noisy so this meant that we couldn't use the light during the night as we would wake the other person off. There were emergency lights on the ceiling that were very bright and it made it difficult to sleep. I'm not sure they are needed as it is obvious where the door was if there was a fire. If these two things could be fixed, then I would give this hotel 5/5

We were a group of 4 playing locally at the weekend and one of our party had booked this hotel. The rooms we had were spacious enough, situated at the end of the car park, the only issue being we had booked 2 x twins and we got 1 twin, and a double but with a pull out sofa bed. The owner quickly sorted the pull out bed but it would have been good to have a proper bed. Plenty of storage space for golf clubs and clothes, bathroom also spacious enough plenty of towels. The hotel stops serving food at 8.00 p.m., but we’re good enough to keep kitchen open till our 4th arrived just after 8.15 p.m., the pizza I had was large, too much cheese and not enough pepperoni but the others had Fish and Chips which was a huge portion, and Scampi which looked like 5 meals worth in numbers, we had the steak the following evening which was very good. The others were not as impressed with the beer but service was quick, popular with cyclists. Worth stopping here and we will be back next year.
