Crater Safari Lodge

What can I say? The rooms, the staff, the food, the location… This is not my first stay here and will not be the kast. Barbara, the lodge owner always makes everything perfect for our stays and Mercy, the manager was a lovely person making everything possible for us. The restaurant roof was going through a renovation but they set the table for 12 of us at the pool house. Knowing the original restaurant area, I was very happy that we had dlning there. The rooms are spacious and every cottage is like a honeymoon cottage. It is so romantic you wish you just had married and come here. The chef, Felix is amazing to prepare vegetarian options. Well, I am in love with the place and will stay in love for a looooong time!

While the lodge is in a beautiful location, we were unaware that it was undergoing a major renovation until our arrival. The main lodge and pool area were both under construction and unaccessible. This is unacceptable given the fact that it is supposed to be a high end resort and the cost. Management claims that the renovations to the pool were done as an emergency just days before our stay, but I see a review from the month prior saying the lodge & pool were closed. I appreciate that renovations need to occur, but notice and a price adjustment should be given due to both the inconvenience and cost. Instead, we were just given a bottle of wine. Due to the size of our family, we had 3 cottages. There was much confusion around which cottages we were in at check-in. Given we were traveling as a family, I would have expected that our cottages would be next to each other, especially since we were the only group staying here upon arrival. Instead, our children's cottages several away from ours. The rooms are large with balconies to sit outside to enjoy the beautiful view. The beds are comfortable. Due to the main lodge being under construction, we were served meals at one of the cottages. The food was delicious. Further, the staff was very attentive, especially Julius. The fire pit was lit each night and we were able to enjoy the night sky. While the resort has a lot of potential given its location and staff, management has a lot to learn about how to treat its guests and make adjustments when their experience is not optimal.

Getting a break from Kampala, the Crater Safari Lodge is a perfect place, if you like nature and a peaceful surrounding. Our cottage had a beautiful view of the crater lake. The food was excellent, with two choices for each meal. The main building of the lodge is still under construction, but it did not interfere with our stay, as they served us our meals on the veranda of the cottage. The staff was very friendly and attentive.

It was an amazing place with an amazing view, an excellent and kind stuff. The food was amazing and the stuff is very professional. The managers are also very helpful and friendly. Will definitely go back. It’s a perfect place for people who want to have a peaceful stay in Kibale.

This is an incredible resort for both families & couples. The rooms are very large with spacious balconies to sit outside, relax & enjoy the views of the lake. The beds are comfortable, food was delicious & the staff were superb & very attentive. We ate our meals on our balcony because the main restaurant & pool were under going renovations. The staff lit up their fire pit each night for us to relax & enjoy the view. We were there in low season & had the resort to ourselves. It was so quiet & peaceful. Highly recommend this resort to anyone looking for a luxurious vacation spot.

Very lovely. The view is stunning, and the people who work there were kind and helpful. I stayed in one of the bungalows with an incredible view of the lake — the room was large and the bed was comfortable, with proper netting. The food was very good — I appreciated that they were happy to offer local food options, and I enjoyed them all. I was ready to move in.

The views are spectacular! It was so pretty and quiet... the room was beautiful, bed very comfortable and the hot water bottles were very much appreciated when it was unexpectedly cooler than i anticipated! Food was absolutely sublime as were the staff. One of our favourite stays in Uganda and would definitely recommend. Thank you.
