Really disappointing lunch here today. For such an awesome building the potential for a great meal experience is high. It has a really limited menu, as a vegan I could only eat smashed avocado on toast- which came with an egg on). I was told they don’t do veggie sausages etc but for a veggie breakfast I could just have it without the meat! Maybe in the 90s you could get away with this but nowadays is just odd. Ordered drinks that didn’t arrive. I would have complained to the staff if I thought they seemed vaguely interested in our experience. We had to go to the bar to get a menu and plates remained uncleared as we left. Sadly won’t be going back .

What an amazing place. Staff, Accommodation, drinks and food were amazing. Loved it here was here for a gig and had an amazing time. The only drawback was the location was not the best as it was far out from the centre but apart from that would defo recommend.

I liked it ! It warmed up. "Reception" is a bit small and so dusty & dirty, I was taken aback. It's a terrible start ! But, my room was absolutely lovely, as was the bathroom, and I felt very comfortable and at home. Plus points were the bed linen - amazing - the TEAPOT to make tea in !!, the minibar, the dressing gowns, all the bathroom amenities - very generous, the real milk in the fridge, the space, the two chairs and little table, the plants, the layout of the room and bathroom, the deep standalone bath and the fact there was a shower too, which I didn't even enter. The downside was the view - a wet, rained upon sofa out on the street, & grubby graffiti, lots of dust still in the room, from the works going on nearby, but it needed a better clean, just in parts, the door wasn't self locking, and anyone can enter the hotel from the street via the bar / restaurant. I found the St Paul's area pretty ropey, to tell the truth, although it's an easy walk from Temple Meads, 25 mins. Overall, I was very happy there, and would stay again.

Our Uber driver had difficulty locating the entrance. Once we found it it was in an old building and the recently refurbished hotel is so cool inside. I noticed how nice all the hardware is for the door knobs and bathroom fixtures. Our room was very small but well appointed and fine for one night. It had a lift only to the second floor where our room was. The bar is excellent with delicious drinks and all the coffees. They had a smoking area they call the garden which was cute and had an awning over the area and it was raining. We loved sitting out there drinking our coffee and drinks. Bristol is known for the artist Banksy. This hotel had a great bit of graffiti painted on its outside wall. It probably wasn't an original Banksy but it is a statement piece like his work.

Absolutely nothing special about this hotel. Small bedrooms, tepid bath water, no loo roll in the bedroom, very few toiletries, noisy construction site generator opposite preventing even the smallest chance of sleeping in on a Saturday morning. Limited dinner menu made even more so by running out of steak - not on the delivery this morning apparently as if it’s impossible to pop to Waitrose and pick up a few sirloins… No newspapers to accompany breakfast. Nowhere to park overnight without having to get up and move the car to another bay. Whoever designed the hotel seems to think that having a few pieces of mid century furniture is all you need to create a worthy establishment, totally missing the point of what customers expect from a decent hotel experience. Requests for basics - newspaper, sanitary products etc met with ‘we don’t do that here’ type response from blandly disinterested receptionist. If one has to stay in Bristol, and are more interested in substance over style, I’d suggest you look elsewhere.

A home away from home! I was fortunate enough to stumble upon this hotel and it is an absolute gem. Beautiful, unfussy welcoming design throughout, delightful rooms but most of all utterly charming staff. Elfie and Savanna (I apologise for almost certainly spelling their names incorrectly!) were so warm, friendly and helpful, they made the whole experience sing. I will be back!

Real gem of a find. We stayed in the Artist Suite, a massive room with huge bed, roll top bath and lounge area. The room has a lovely view over the greenery of Portland Square outside. The Suite is well appointed, the Brambley toiletries were great and the bed super comfy. We had a few delicious cocktails in the bar before we headed out for dinner. I had the full English breakfast the following morning and my wife had the French toast with bacon and maple syrup. Both used quality local ingredients and tasted amazing. Even the coffee was great. All the staff that we met were super friendly and very helpful. The local bar/club called Cosies plays music until 3am so if you are a light sleeper, you may want to pay the £5 per head, go join the fun and then grab some sleep. Overall though, highly recommended place to stay.

We had a meal for our wedding anniversary. The food was pretty average and I sent my two small plates back. Staff lovely and did all the right things but we had a less than average night and wd not go again despite the lovely venue and nice staff. We had hoped for better.
