The rooms were beautifully decorated with stylish touches that made us feel right at home. The hotel also offered a variety of fantastic facilities, including a cozy reading room, a chic bar, and a delightful restaurant. The highlight for our little one was definitely the pool, which provided hours of fun. The staff went above and beyond with their incredible attentiveness and genuine care, making our stay truly memorable.

An excellent hotel for a trip to Bradford on Avon. The food was good and service excellent. Bradford is in easy reach and the hotel is on a bus route to Bath and Bradford. A canal trip is enjoyable. One word of caution: the entrance is on a sharp bend with not the best visibility (from Bradford), so take care.

I'll begin with the positive. The food was great, presented nicely and hot although the menu doesn't change daily. Now, to the not so good. We were in the Artist room, (room 6) which is advertised as a superior double. Sadly this is far from superior. Apart from the bed being comfortable with good quality bedding, that is the only positive we can find. Where to start.... wardrobe: impossible to hang anything due to the nature of the hanger/rail arrangement. No drawer space for clothes so for the time we were there we had to leave our clothes in the case. There is a desk/dressing table which had 2 small drawers which my husband put his medication in only for it to drop straight through. I sat to dry my hair using the mirror above and I could only see the top of my head. The carpet is not clean and there was no heating despite being told that the heating would be on at 6pm. The windows are all cloudy so can't see out. Now to the bathroom: no blind to the window, so we resorted to putting a towel up. No grab rail for the shower and nowhere to put toiletries while in the shower other than the floor which is not ideal.

Generally we enjoyed our stay which was for my wife’s birthday. The Seamstress’ Room was atmospheric and we loved the roll top bath and comfortable four poster bed. Dinner was fine, although we were ignored by the waiter for at least ten minutes before being attended to. An American couple who were also being ignored got up and left! A couple who appeared to be regulars managed to get their orders in as soon as they were shown to their table so were served much quicker than anyone else which was annoying. Waiters should be trained to acknowledge diners and several drinks much quicker rather than ignoring them! My wife’s crab ravioli starter was very disappointing as it had precious little crab in it. My scallops were excellent. Our mains (lemon chicken and beef fillet) were very good. After-dinner cocktails were good. Breakfast was good but no-one had serviettes so us guests had to find them in a side cabinet ourselves - again, evidence that the young waiters are poorly trained. On checking out our invoice was not itemised so we just had to trust that we hadn’t been over-charged for food and drinks. Again I feel that an itemised bill should be essential. Shame that these easily rectifiable details took the edge off our stay!

Very comfortable hotel with attractive garden. Food was good and staff friendly and helpful. Our room was a large superior one. There were a few aspects which could be improved. Both windows had views of surrounding countryside and the garden, but were obscured by the build-up of grime on them, both inside and out. The light above the sink did not work. Another review mentioned the style of decoration throughout, which is shabby chic, to reflect the building's farming origins. This has been overdone. The tea-making facilities in our room were placed on a well-used artists paintbox, which was paint-spattered and rusty. Not hygenic. The colour-scheme of dark green on the upper floor made it impossible to see the various prints on the wall, or indeed the keyhole of the room door! The lounge area next to the bar and restaurant room, was similarly painted in dark red. Both these areas have no natural lighting and need light colours to enhance them. The bar was cosy, but not well-served by the old saw, wooden paddleboard and very distressed mirror, all on one wall. Outside, the area behind the piggery rooms needs attention. Weed-covered concrete and an old outhouse base need proper landscaping.

What a wonderful secret space! Beautiful grounds, delicious food, and gorgeous rooms! The pool was warm and we had it to ourselves. The staff were friendly and very helpful. Delightfully romantic and insta perfect! Each room has its own character, a lovely reminder of the hotels heritage. Would absolutely recommend this as somewhere to stay!

There were a couple of negatives, but the positives outweighed this making our stay very enjoyable. A little tired in places, some maintenance required here and there and lack of flat surface from the car park to the outer buildings across the carpark for wheelchair access. There is an overkill of what you can repurpose as a light fititng and general repurposing within all the rooms making it messy rather than quirky and clever. That woman off the TV must have made a fortune here. Too much 'stressed' shabby and chic-leaning to the shabby side for my liking. Our room #11 was large, fantastic bed and pillows. Really good size TV (not Smart though), very good ameniites, despite no shower bathroom gel/soap for the first night. Very good quality tea used but not labelled in the breakfast room so everyone has to finger and read the very small print on the lables!! This woud not have been allowed two years ago! Great location for Bradford On Avon, Lacock Abbey, Court Gardens and Bath. Exceptional breakfast and extremely hard working staff in the restaurant in the evening and at breakfast. In general our room like most hotel rooms could have a brighter centre light in in this room a brighter one above the mirror outside the bathroom so that one can sit and prepare . No chair here either! The negatives have been reported to the hotel so hopefully will be addressed and I won't mention here. Overall, an enjoyable stay and great location. The Secret Escapes deal made it even more pleasant with the meal and drinks deal. Well worth a visit. Would stay here again and pack my swim wear and give the pool a go.

Welcoming, informative and helpful staff. Excellent food but service poor on Saturday morning. Beautiful grounds and everything spotlessly clean. Quirky antique artefacts make interesting viewing and the gin bar is a delight. A well spent few days.
