Stayed here for seven nights on a very enjoyable trip to Porto. Staff excellent, all very friendly and helpful. Location very good and easy to find from metro station. Plenty of restaurants within easy walking distance. Breakfast good, good selection of hot and cold foods and fresh fruit. Complementary snacks in the afternoon on the roof terrace a nice touch. Bedroom comfortable, large bathroom. Only criticism is lack of wardrobe space so had to leave some clothes in cases as no room to hang them all up but this did not spoil our visit. Overall a very good stay and would recommend as a good base when visiting Porto.

This is the BEST hostel I’ve stayed in, would honestly stay here over a Hilton. I booked a double private room with breakfast and was upgraded to a family room - despite not needing the extra bed, it was nice to have the extra space and not feeling cramped. The staff were amazing and couldn’t do anymore to assist me in anyway. There was an ample choice of options at breakfast, with the usual stuff found in a continental buffet. I must say the food was delicious! I also dined at the restaurant in the evening which was also delicious and VERY well priced - €12 for a meal and a drink! The room was very spacious, especially as I was a solo traveller. The bathroom was well maintained and the entire room was CLEAN! Along with very comfortable beds and passable pillows (but I am fussy with pillows). The location was perfect! Just 10-15 minutes from Sao Bento and around the corner from the river. I must say I did feel EXTREMELY SAFE both in the hotel and in Porto in general. Why would I stay here over a Hilton? For the price I paid, it was extremely well value and I must say I had a 5* experience here.

Brand new hotel, very well located, lovely staff and a variety of choices for breakfast. It is very close to a department store (El Corte Inglés), a subway station and few attractions. Microwave and mini fridge is also available.
Definitely, I will come back.

Booked this hotel directly via the ITG website . Yes its in Vila de Gaia -on the other side of the river from Porto old town -but public transport is available close by and Uber rides are around 4 Euros .....or hotel can call a taxi for you . The hotel is host to some airline personnel ,tour groups .....and the odd football team (Benfica on this occasion ) turns up pre match . On this side of the river you are close to El Corte Ingles department store and Shopping Gaia shopping centre if retail therapy is your thing ....and there are some individual shops /supermarkets /restaurants /cafes close by . A few weeks before we were due to travel my husband broke his collar bone . I e -mailed the hotel to ask if we could have a room with a walk in shower just to make it a bit easier . Got a very quick reply from the hotel saying that they could certainly do that ......so not only did we have a room with a walk in shower ,we had a suite . It was just so spacious & comfortable and made our stay even more enjoyable . I cannot praise the staff in this hotel enough -reception , bar ,restaurants, housekeeping -all so helpful and friendly during our stay. Reception staff were so helpful in providing Information ,maps and directions and giving restaurant recommendations . The hotel was spotless and well maintained and our room was serviced daily. There was an excellent choice at breakfast -served between 7AM _10-30 . We had lunch /dinner in the hotel bar /restaurant a couple of times during our stay -mainly for convenience as we didn't have the best of weather during our stay and we enjoyed a ”nightcap ” in the hotel bar each evening . I didn't use the spa or gym /fitness facility on this occasion so can't really comment but note other reviews are positive . When planning our trip we did consider a few different hotels on the Porto side as well as some apartments but kept coming back to this hotel based on price & reviews -for us on this occasion we deffinately made the right choice and would stay here again .

Definitely not a 4 star hotel. No restaurant facilities only basic breakfast.Basic facilities throughout. The metro trains were in an open topped tunnel 15 metres from our room.(picture 2)The noise was similar to a jet taking off 18-20 hours per day.)The shower was in the room and had no barrier at bottom of door so room flooded when you shower.(picture 3)A coffee machine that had no capsules or milk or sugar. No wardrobe only 2 small drawers.(picture 4)It is an up market Youth Hostel. The 2 stars are for staff only

I arrived at the hotel on 20 November 2022 for a 5 night stay. The stay was business related and with so many hotels to choose from, I decided to go with the Porto Palacio. What an excellent choice! The hotel is absolutely brilliant - I cannot find a fault. Check-in was very smooth and on arrival to the room - wow - very modern, crisp clean sheets on the bed and a spacious room. In terms of food, the Breakfast experience was the best part of the stay for me. I have stayed in many hotels around the world - both on a personal basis and a business basis - I can honestly say that the breakfast staff at the Porto Palacio are the best I've ever come across. On arrival, I was seated quickly. On Day 1, the staff members memorised what I had that cannot be chosen by the buffet - for example, a tea and two plates (as I like two plates) - on Days 2 and for the rest of the trip, I didn't even need to ask. I was called by my Title and Surname on arrival. The whole experience was brilliant. I would like to mention a lady called Rosa and another lady (they both greet staff members at the door) - their hospitality skills are great and they are always smiling - nothing is too much for them. I didn't eat at the restaurant in the evening but had room service as personally, I like to relax after a day at the office. The food was of good quality and was tasty and piping hot. I used the gym during my stay - the gym is open to members of the public, therefore is not your usual hotel gym. It's huge - there are loads of machines and I was never waiting for someone to finish using something. Staff members are friendly. All in all - a brilliant stay and is a genuine 5 star hotel! I will return to the Porto Palacio both on a business basis and also on a personal basis - Porto looks like a great city! It's a shame that I didn't have time to look around as I had a busy schedule but I will certainly be back! Thank you!!

Arrived on a Sunday Afternoon, to a helpful and friendly English speaking reception. Whilst it was 4pm our room was not ready so they changed the allocation. Next morning we were not on the breakfast list they had not amended the room no. In addition the breakfast area was overrun with what turned out to be about 4 coach loads of people. There was a shortage of cutelry, crockery and food. I ended up with coffee in a paper cup. No hot food left at that time. Subsequent breakfast times were less busy with a little more choice. However we realised that the hotel is set up for basic stop overs on way to/from airport and coach tours, not a mid week stay like ours. The 304 bus stop right outside the hotel reception was always on time in the mornings but took up to 30 minutes to get to the centre of Porto. The return by bus was not so reliable, with busses not turning up to schedule and the last bus getting back to the hotel just after 8pm. I am not sure if there is a bar open in the evening, I certainly did not notice one. Overall this is a clean basic busy hotel and did not suit our purpose.

Due to price and proximity to the airport, I chose to stay here for a night while waiting for my flight back to the USA. Why due to price, might you ask? Well, doesn’t 63 USD sound amazing, especially since neighboring hotels were selling in the hundreds that same night? I tried booking that young-adult discount rate online prior to arriving at the property, which I knew was only available for purchase on the official hotel site but assumed I could easily get at the check-in counter as well. The site was down or not accepting my bank account for whatever reason, even after clearing all fraud protection freezes and things like that. Please know that when I say the following, I’m not putting direct blame on the individual staff members at Stay Hotel Porto Airport. I’m putting blame on the larger system. BUT it still needs to be said. I wish the staff could have quickly given me the $63 rate at the check-in counter, KNOWING I was having trouble with the website/app and should’ve been entitled to it with a better payment method. By the time I tried and tried and tried to get the rate to go through, the $63 rate had expired and the next best option was for $81, still exclusive to the app. And sure enough, know what happened when I tried paying for the $81? Still no luck. When the clock struck midnight, all hope was lost for a cheaper rate—the app reset its prices to the next night, and I had to pay a rate of around $100 at the counter to get a room right then. A valid argument could be to ask why I’m this picky about the prices, since when viewing it macroscopically, the differences aren’t that extreme. But I was traveling on a VERY tight budget. Every little amount counts a ton. And being at the end of my trip, my finances were in jeopardy more than they’d been at any other point in Europe. So I lost out on 40 bucks, which adjusted for non-backpacker inflation is 400 bucks. Or more. The last thing I’m going to add to the unfortunate pricing situation is one where I feel arguably the most disappointed about. Yes it’s apparently company rules not to book rates over the counter that are supposed to be booked online. But I didn’t feel that sense of sympathy or apology from either of the two employees at the desk. They were kind and friendly enough, which was expected—but when something goes wrong out of the customer’s control, I also expect clear, explicit concern and care to be verbalized. I don’t think they really “cared” that I missed out on a cheap rate because their company’s app payment portal malfunctioned. One of the ladies even told me (when I asked if this was a common issue with foreigners) that this scenario occurs roughly once each WEEK, which she labeled as not very common…but I beg to differ. I’m not saying they should fix the app issue…but they should’ve given me something like an apology. Quickly to fulfill my job responsibilities as an objective and comprehensive reviewer…the room was clean and comfy, the bathroom was spacious with

AAnonymous UserThe room is very new, the kettle hair dryer slippers are available, and there are disposable items in Europe. It is rare to provide them. It is 500 meters away from the subway station and a five-minute walk. It is recommended.
Nnomad2702We stayed for 3 nights in this guest house. It is basic, clean with great staff and one of the few budget friendly places that offers breakfast also. The location is great; you can walk to almost all attractions (depending on how much you want to walk); and surrounded by coffee shops and restaurants. It is in a beautiful, old home and the details are great- if you are in that sort of thing. The good: - The staff is amazing. Every one we met was great and very helpful. The front desk person-Emerson: gave us great guidance on what to see, how to club things to get the most out of our day, where to find good restaurants, etc. - We got there sooner than our check in time, and they let us keep our luggage there, offered water etc. -Our room was ready when we got back and our luggage was put in the room - Breakfast was simple- coffee, boiled eggs, baked goods, toast, butter, jam, fruit and some meats. The breakfast was handled by the sweetest Iracema and she was amazing. They give freshly squeezed orange juice and it's amazing. We had read in reviews that there were options to given to other travelers for scrambled eggs but we did not get that option- but that's ok. We missed breakfast one day as we had to step out early but when we told Emerson he made sure the next day they let us have breakfast 15 mins before so we won't miss it. - The room was very clean. It was small- which is expected of European hotels, but was as advertised and had everything we needed. The covered balcony gave us the extra space and we enjoyed it. - They give you wine as a welcome drink- which is nice. They also offered beer and I am not sure it's a norm; maybe it was done as a special thin-due to the first 'not so good' point below. The not so good: -It was hot the 2 out of 3 nights we were there. When we went to our room after it was ready the room was stuffy and hot. There are no fans and the Air conditioning unit was throwing warm air. So we went and told the front desk associate who told us that the there was an issue with the Air conditioning unit in that room and their repair person was sick so he can not get anyone there till a day later and it will be fixed then (2 nights out of 3 nights of our stay). This annoyed us as this should have been something that should have been mentioned when we checked in. We asked can we move to another room and were told there were no other rooms empty. We asked for a fan and they gave us one. They also told us to open the windows as it cools down in the night and that should help- so we did as it very hard to sleep in the room without that. That led to another issue-mosquitoes. So we did not get a good night's sleep 1st night fighting hot stuffy room and/or mosquitoes . On day 2 ( Sunday) I requested again and told about the mosquito issue; I was told they are trying to get another repair man. In the evening when we got back and checked we were told that they got the new repair person and the air conditioner needs a part which th
MMatthew LA clean, modern and friendly hotel in a great location, great breakfast too! I will book again, for visits as my daughter lives in Porto. It was nice and quiet when we stayed and great for escaping the hustle and bustle of Porto. The manager also regularly checked in with us as to how our stay was.
we where 20 friends that stayed here for 5 nights what a wonderful hotel and the staff is just amazing. Everyone went out of their way to help us to prepare for us roof top party one evening and a buffet dinner down stairs in the reception/ breakfast area the last evening in Porto. The rooms are fantastic on the small side but you have everything you need , its chick and modern and nice for a city break. The bar in the roof top is just amazing just dial 001 and you get what you want. The bar downstairs amazing . Its easy to go everywhere around Porto from this hotel. What make this hotel is again the staff I dont name names because they are all wonderful and so happy to work there. The breakfast is nice and you get all what you need . You can tell that the staff who work there make this hotel happy. Happy Staff - Happy hotel. Best wishes from all of us from Norway this was the best hotel stay in our 19 days trip in Portugal and we will come back
GGuest UserClean, tidy, with well. equipped rooms, and the staff were very helpful and polite. The location is good for the Metro and from there Porto centre or the Airport. It was also nice to have safe off road parking. We will certainly be using this accommodation again
GGuest UserMe and my family are planning a holiday to Algarve, but as direct flights don’t run everyday to Faro, we decided to make a 3-day short trip at Porto before heading to Algarve. We saw Almada Domus on Expedia and decided to stay there as the photos look pretty and it describes its location as very central to all tourists attractions in Porto. Unfortunately, after we made the booking we realised that the hotel is actually located some blocks away from the main streets and requires a short climb uphill to get to, which will be a challenge for my husband who suffers from recurring Achilles tendinitis that makes walking difficult and would require walking aides. On the same day, within 2 hours after making our booking, I emailed the hotel to enquire about cancellation. I explained to Fabio (which I assume is the manager/ owner of the hotel) about my situation and at that time he seemed to be willing to accommodate my request but advised me to contact Expedia directly. I then spoke with Expedia and was told that they can do a free cancellation upon confirming with the hotel that they’re ok with it. Over 20 emails back and forth with the hotel since last evening, and this morning Fabio abruptly changed his tone and said he will not allow a free cancellation and we will have to pay a 50% penalty, as the booking is now “outside the 2-hour cancellation window”, and it would be “unfair to other guests” (even though I did contact the hotel about cancelling within 2 hours after making my booking, hoping to minimise the impact on their business). I was also told by Fabio that “Porto is a hilly city like Lisbon, which are not friendly for people with walking difficulties” and said but we can Uber everywhere…. I was very shocked with his last comments and obviously disappointed that he was unwilling to help even though he said he would at the beginning when I first contacted.
JJulieta PuenteThe hotel is very comfortable and very comfortable. We had a problem at the reception as they told us first yes and then q yes and then if there was to pay charges from the city. I explained and proved that I had already paid them but they said trip had not paid them for it was me touched to pay them again, which I was a little impressed. On the other hand, the dryers are super old and warm up and shut up at 30 seconds and stop working up to 3 minutes so better carry a dryer.
GGuest UserWe stayed two nights in this hotel. The style is retro, but with touches of modernity, I found it aestheticly nice. As the lift is not a little uncomfortable for the baggage. The staff were very friendly and friendly 😀 The triple room was quite date and not very spacious. The air conditioner was a little complicated to light (the remote control had no batteries compartment. The batteries were kept with scotch 😅). The small but functional bathroom. The washing machine was lost and I personally had difficulty washing because the spoon shower sets consist of 10ml bags each.... You should buy a spoon shower. I found it very good! There were traditional and handicrafted sweets, not the usual packed things. And always supplied. We personally did not enjoy their parking because on the front road, even 100 metres I believe, we found non-payment parking. I see many free parkings in the area 😁 as others say is very comfortable with the metro stop.
GGuest UserThis place is actually an old motel that has clearly gone bankrupt and still tries to get naive customers to a trap. It smells of mold, there is no shower ( just a broken whirlpool ), there is no maintenance and the staff is clearly unwilling to look after the guests. To make it worse - if possible - they tried to cheat Booking pretending I was not there ( although I have my credit cards statements to prove ) just not to pay their commission. When I wrote this on the Booking review the owner was extremely impolite and aggressive , as his plote was denounced. Honestly, it makes no sense staying there even if it was for free. Run away from this joint!!
