Bodmin Jail Hotel
9.3 (106 reviews)

Bodmin Jail Hotel ★★★★

📍 Scarlett's Well Rd, Bodmin

"The hotel itself was a great experience and we did enjoy the novelty of staying in the prison which I would recommend to anyone. Upon arrival we were welcome by the team but very basic information was given, leading to us missing a tour of the hotel which we were told was included in the price. The manager then offered for one of the team to do a later tour for just the two of us which was cut short, very awkward and definitely not worth the money paid for. If we had been advised of the tour with the bigger group when checking in we may have had a better experience. We decided to book dinner at the chapel to experience it as much as we could but dinner was poor. We had to wait for our table, 3 different people asked for our name before we sat down and then again a fourth person checked once we were sat down. With minimal staff on the service was poor to say the least and The burger ordered was pretty much raw, I did not finish it. Once we had finished no one came to ask if we wanted anything else or to look at a dessert menu. We left the restaurant with no one even there working! Not sure where the team had disappeared to. Breakfast was good and would recommend it."

Premier Inn Bodmin ★★★

📍 Launceston Rd, Bodmin

"A premier inn branch. Room is spacious and mostly clean. Two single beds in the room. Location is near a bus station, big supermarkets and McDonald's, KFC. Quite far away from train station. Bar and restaurant in the hotel. Although the shower handle cannot be moved."

St Tudy Inn

St Tudy Inn ★★★

📍 Church Road, Bodmin

"A lovely welcome as we were greeted at the Bar by Tommy and shown to our room. We went back to the bar and had a drink. The bar offers a good selection of beer lager and wines. The room was clean and tidy and was great for a short stay. The bed was a double with a mattress that was a little soft for us, however that is because we do have a very firm mattress at home The staff were very friendly and polite. Unfortunately due to our stay being on Sunday and Monday we could take advantage of the restaurant as it was closed for these two evenings but the menu looked very nice. We paid for the breakfast for two mornings at £15 per head per day and it was very good. Yoghurt, fruit, warm croissants and cereals were on the table on arrival and then we were offered a choice of cooked breakfast, either a full english, bacon or sausage sandwiches and Scrambled egg with smoked salmon. We had an issue one morning however this was sorted out to our satisfaction.  We would definitely recommend St Tudy Inn for a short stopover."

Westberry Hotel ★★★
"The economy twin room is too small, and it's too crowded for two people to sleep. I was always trying to prevent myself from falling off the bed, so I didn't sleep well. The room is too small to fit two 24-inch suitcases. The garage entrance is too small, and the RAV4 must put away the rearview mirror to drive in. Other than that, the family-style hotel is very cozy, the English dinner is great, and the desserts are also delicious."

Premier Inn Bodmin ★★★
"We stayed here for a couple of nights. The rooms were very clean & fresh smelling. The new fans were a god send as the weather was so hot & we were able to turn the dial right up to suit our needs. There was a very helpful young lady that was very happy & positive that made the atmosphere even more welcoming. She kept our room very clean & gave us fresh towels & top up our teas & coffees when asked, I believe she was wearing a grey coloured hair band. It’s always a pleasure to meet such happy individuals."

Trehellas House Hotel & Restaurant ★★★
"Old British hotel, absolutely can not expect, we live in the ground floor room, upstairs is the staff dormitory, late at night non-stop coming and going, footsteps are very noisy, can not sleep at all, shower water pressure is extremely low, grooming to take a long time can not clean. The staff has a polite attitude."

St Benets Abbey B&B ★★★
"We agreed with some of the other reviews, that it a bit quirky in parts. Bits are a bit old fashioned, but everything is very clean. Breakfast was excellent. Only real negative was that things that would be easy and cheap to fix were not done, things like squeaking doors and replacing blackened silicone sealant around the bath. There is a pub about 10 minutes walk away serving good beer and food. Never used it, but I believe the chippy across from the pub is also OK. Generally happy and would stay again."

"Our stay at Meadow oak has been pleasant and awesome. The Room is very clean and spacious. The Bathroom is top tier with the spa bathtub. The kitchen and dinning area makes it feel like home away from home. Eric goes above and beyond for his guests."
