This hotel was one of the best hotels we stayed in Sri Lanka. Everything was just perfect: the beach, the restaurant, the service and all amenities. We stayed in a private garden villa , the room was super clean and nicely decorated. The breakfast had a big variety of healthy meals, lunch and dinner menu is very good, has a big choice of fresh fish and seafood. The service was just excellent! Highly recommend to go to cinema under the stars and enjoy a movie on the beach.
Will definitely recommend this place to friends.

This is a beach villa. You can see the sunrise over the Indian Ocean when you wake up! It's quiet and you won't be disturbed! Breakfast is ordered and tastes good. The location is relatively remote, so you basically eat in the hotel.

Complete delight) Starting from the staff who greeted us at the entrance to the hotel. I didn’t want to leave at all, but we were able to book only for one day; there were no villas available for other dates. The general manager met us and we had a personal assistant.
Everything is so beautiful, rooms with a private courtyard are more private than those with access to the sea. The interior is very stylish, a cool area for tea and a shower outside, and the most important thing is the presence of a bathroom) In the main building there is an area for working on a computer and a children's area - an incredibly beautiful room. There are many photo zones on the beach, there is a bar near the pool, and waiters serve drinks. The breakfast is perfect, the presentation and the dishes themselves are top class. We liked the dinner, we ordered a dish from the chef, it depends on the catch that day. We had lobsters. Everywhere they give compliments - coconuts upon arrival, shrimp by the pool, detox drinks for breakfast, etc. We travel a lot, but this particular hotel has sunk into our hearts. Probably, it’s also a matter of emotional attitude towards each guest. The general manager, Umberto, an Italian, accompanied us along with the rest of the staff. We'll definitely come back again.

The hotel looks very primising in the pictures, beautiful setting and facilities. Unfortunately we were a bit disqppointed on the way it is managed. It looks like the place is abandoned relying on its own structure and pictures.
Pros:
- beautiful setting and location, in front of a beautiful beach.
- rooms are well done, big bathrooms, nice outdoor area.
- faclities have a beautiful decoration, the bar, the restaurant.
Cons:
- cleaning! The resort has a cleaning issue. To the point that we wrote "clean me" with our fingers on the restaurant toilet mirror, and it was there during our entire stay. Nothing has regular cleaning, spots everywhere, toilets are terrible specialy the poil toilet (see pictures).
- bar drinks are not good. We tried many drinks and juices in all the hotels we stayed in Sri Lanka, and this one we had to give up, drink after drink, juice after juice, were not good at all. Also the drink glasse come very very dirty.
- bar is beautiful but never had any music during our stay. Its a silent empty place, no one uses it... and the bartender usualy is not there which makes it a ghost place.
- service is welcoming but not prepared. For example before you reach the breakfast area upstairs they ask you: "what do you want for breakfast? So i dont have to go upstairs to ask", overall staff is tired, not motivated and have no training, they are as abandoned as the hotel.
- spa was closed during our entire stay, because the lady had days off. So we booked a hotel with a Spa that did not exist...you have to be lucky not to book on her days off.
- when at check-out i tried to tell them the place have lots of potential but they need to pay attention to this details they just replied: thank you for your stay, please make us a review on tripadvisor! So they just don't pay attention... which is sad to see. I wish they could change the management and have someone motivated and energic to transform the place into the best hotel in Sri Lanka, because they could be.

Overall we had a wonderful stay at Karpaha Sands as part of our honeymoon in August. The hotel was beautiful. We stayed in one of the ocean front suites and it was such a gorgeous room, with wonderful amenities and décor. We had our own sun loungers to use on the beach which was a lovely touch and the butler service was fantastic, it was very special to have breakfast brought to us in the morning to have on the veranda close to the ocean. The massage treatments were brilliant, and the swimming pool was lovely. The beach and ocean were beautiful. Unfortunately there were two areas that we felt needed improvement which is why we haven't given a five star rating. First, there a quite a few dogs that live/roam on the beach and on one day some of them got into a fight which was quite distressing to see, especially as one of the dogs became injured and was bleeding. There was also a cat in the restaurant area that was limping. It was unclear whether the hotel owns the animals or if they were wild, but either way it could be doing more to make sure the animals have good welfare, including medical treatments. Second, the quality of the meals was inconsistent. On several occasions the dishes we ordered were missing key elements without any acknowledgment or explanation from the staff, which was disappointing given the cost, e.g. I ordered the wok fried rice with tofu, but it didn't have any tofu in it. What was very frustrating though was that we had informed the hotel at several points (before our stay, when we arrived via a form which asked for dietaries) that I was vegan, but no one seemed to care/remember. At dinner for example I was repeatedly brought an amuse-bouche which I couldn't eat, and when I asked if it was vegan they would take it away- no alternative was offered. In the afternoon the staff would bring cookies to the room which was a lovely touch, but again they weren't vegan. For such a high-quality hotel, the staff should know if guests have dietary requirements. The Sri Lankan food in the restaurant was very good but some of the other dishes lacked flavour.

Nous avons dormi 4 nuits dans ce complexe hôtelier Situé au bout d une route qui mène sur une plage absolument paradisiaque lhotel se compose de tentes luxueuses La deco est élégante et la douche en plein air constitue une expérience sensorielle unique ! Le lieu est magnifique de jour comme de nuit lorsque plein de petites et grandes lumières tamisées rendent l endroit féerique La plage est calme mais personne ne s y baigne peut être à cause des méduses ? Vous pourrez assister au travail des pêcheurs qui partent le matin et rentrent le soir avec leur filet rempli de poissons La plage devant l hôtel est propre mais dès qu on s éloigne un peu malheureusement plastiques et bouteilles jonchent le sol La piscine de l hôtel est splendide Le bémol du séjour réside dans la qualité de la nourriture : le matin le petit déjeuner est excellent et se compose de produits frais mais le soir nous avons été déçus tant par la qualité que par les prix pratiqués nettement trop chers Le personnel est attentif mais peu souriant. This was our second time staying there with our family and we LOVED every second of it. The staff is hands down the best. The beach is the best you will find in Sri Lanka for swimming. The food and atmosphere is unmatched. Highly recommend Karpaha to anyone. Will be going back when we are in Sri Lanka again.

This place is exceptional- we had a tent on the sea front with stunning views. The food was excellent and staff really helpful. Nifras was superb and attentive as our ‘butler’. Each tent has its own mobile phone to ask questions or order room service. The 30m infinity pool is clean and attractive. The beach is stunning and local fishermen fish daily.
