"Hotel is about ten minutes walk to town, mostly flat, but there are bus stops if needed. Room view was of the waterfront, which was a bonus. Staff were very pleasant and friendly. Hotel was clean and comfortable. Supermarket was a few minutes walk away."

"The room was clean on the surface, but if you inspected it closely it could have been cleaner. The bed was uncomfortable, it was so soft that you couldn’t get a good night's sleep. On the left hand side it dipped terribly so that you could fall off if you rolled over. The shower tray did not drain away very well, so half way through showering it felt you were standing in a paddling pool, with the worry that it would flood through the doors and on to the floor, so we couldn’t take a long luxurious shower. We didn’t really have much communication with the owners but they seemed pleasant. However, we only had breakfast on the first day. We ordered up front as requested, there was only 1 of each item on the plate (i.e. 1 sausage, 1 bacon, 1 egg, 1 slice of toast), maybe we could have asked for more when ordering but that wasn’t specified on the form. The sausage was just about cooked, the bacon was rock hard and the mushrooms were salty (I’m guessing they were tinned). The continental wasn’t anything to write home about, 1 tub with cornflakes in, a couple of croissants, bananas that were going black. We didn’t go back for our paid for breakfast on the second day because of the following. When we had finished our breakfast I was facing the kitchen and they were cooking the next couples breakfast. They got the bacon out of the microwave, he touched it with bare hand and told the lady to put it back in the microwave for a few more seconds, then he put his finger in his ear to scratch it, and immediately after this he was plating up their food with tongues in one hand but was re-arranging the food with the bare hand that he had just scratched his ear with. Then, he was showing the lady something on his phone, leaning over a counter, and was scratching his head while doing this. She then proceeded to put clean plates on this counter without wiping it over first. If we were to go back to Barry Island I’m afraid we would not be staying here. Helpful"

"Hotel is close to the airport and the beach as well as train stations that go into Cardiff. We stayed for 2 nights and shared a family room. The room itself was clean and there there was housekeeping however the rooms and the hotel in general could do with a real good revamp as it is abit old and dated. However this didn’t dampen our experience, as said the hotel and rooms were clean and were aware of previous reviews. I will say the staff are all really warm and friendly and will do anything to help and make your stay comfortable"

"Lovely guest house within a ten minute walk to the please park and Barry Island train station. We stayed over for a night for the Gavin and Stacey tour and it was the perfect location. Upon arrival we rang the door bell and was swiftly greeted by Lyndon, who is a very friendly man with a great sense of humour. He informed us of where to park and to fill out a breakfast form. We arrived earlier but our room was already ready for us which was a bonus. We stayed in room 3 which had been recently refurbished and new carpet, a lovely modern room with a smart TV, mini fridge, tea and coffee facilities and plenty of storage for our bags. It was nice and quiet in the guest house and the bed was so comfy! We had our breakfast which was made fresh to order, and tasted delicious. We would definitely stay here again if we ever come back to Barry! Thank you for your hospitality and for making us feel so welcome. 🤗"
