So I came here because I got a voucher. Heh. I went into the room and realized that the wall was a little tiny in my heart. breakfast only 4 menus + bread and cereal.. it feels very unfriendly.. fortunately there are bread and cereal that saved me.. the refills are on the rooftop.. which is especially although the morning will feel a little tired.. I'm not going back again.. *ps: Since everything is a bit shocking, somebody knocked next door... feels like knocking into their own room.
Bumi Sawunggaling Hotel
4.1/53 Reviews
Sawunggaling started life in 1920 as a private residence. Through its more than a century of existence, it has seen guests come and go as either a guesthouse or a hotel. Stepping into its humble lobby, you are immediately welcome into its long legacy. The architecture and furniture have been mostly preserved. There are also numerous black-and-white photos on the wall depicting the hotel and scenes of Bandung from the past, further immersing you in the building's rich past. As for the room itself, one could definitely find worse. The one I stayed in was neatly made and decently clean, though some of the furniture might show their age. The amenities are minimal, but the room is spacious, the AC works, the water heater is nifty to make a cup of morning tea, and there's even a bathtub - something very rarely found in newer hotels. On the flipside, the power sockets are not optimized for gadget use and the key is still not electronic. However, somehow the throw pillows in my room highly stunk of old hair oil. Thankfully, the actual pillows smell pleasant, so it's not much of a problem, but I did have to stack the throw pillows away from the bed to avoid the stench. Pay close attention to which room you are booking since the cheaper rooms don't come with hot water for the shower. This can be tough for people not used to showering with cold water (like me) especially since Bandung has relatively cool climate year round. There's also no wifi and the phone connection is also spotty (at least in my room) so it can be hard to even use data. The service is quite good, as all the staff are very friendly. There's a mixed café/coworking space on the ground floor, so it's a good space to work or get coffee if you don't feel going out. Speaking of which, its location near the heart of Bandung is quite convenient; there's a lot of sights to see and malls to shop in. Overall, if you keep your expectations in check and appreciate the history of the place, you'll have a pleasant stay at Sawunggaling - just like so many others had in its 100 years of existence.
Vio Hotel Cimanuk Bandung

Good location, quite central and surrounded by some great restaurants. It's also a few minutes away to RedWhite Star bus company that run direct services to Jakarta airport. But sadly on the first morning, both of us woke up covered in bites only to find very very small insects crawling on the bed and side cabinets. We complained and were shown another room which was infested just as badly. Then shown a third room which was better but still found insects crawling everywhere, so they fumigated the room, using anti-bug spray and then cleaned the room which we then moved into. Then it was fine, no sign of insects and no bites - all good. Some staff very apologetic, some staff just useless. But just something we really didn't want to be dealing with, especially as virtually no staff spoke English (or French or Spanish). Breakfast was also pretty bad, key cards to the room kept losing their info and wi-fi was awful (and also kept logging out!). We will be returning to Bandung but won't be booking here again!

Superb! Clean, hightech, cheap (under IDR 200k), friendly staff, good facilities: wifi, hot water, water dispenser, microwave, prayer room. Althought there's silence hours (21.00-07.00) still I could hear voices. So, you might need to have ear plugs especially for those you are too sensitive to voices. But, I love the idea of natural sound effect and light setting based on our mood on our capsule. Brilliant. Just, a suggestion for those who have problem with weight and steps, you'd better book the earth type not the sky one. Over all, a great experience and would love to come back.
