Spent two midweek nights in the H boutique hotel Others have mentioned parking which is not the hotels fault and I actually felt they were very clear on their communication about this prior to our arrival and gave good advice of where and how to park (especially arriving on a market day) so this is not contributing towards 2*. The basics let this hotel (which has the potential to be lovely) down The room was spacious, however the air conditioning had a mind of its own, and unfortunately as the reception is not manned overnight, when you retire to your room to find it overheating after 10pm it leads to an unpleasantly hot night. In addition to this the bedding and pillow cases had multiple holes and the bed itself was quite uncomfortable. This combined with the aircon led to two very poor nights sleep. The bathroom grouting needed cleaning properly and in some areas redoing. The water pressure in the shower was the worst we’ve experienced in any hotel or campsite -it was a light trickle. We cannot comment on the breakfast as when we booked it was clear that the rate was for room only and breakfast not inclusive. However we can recommend for an excellent hot breakfast ‘The Gallery’ which is just around the corner, well priced and absolutely delicious. The location of the hotel is great if you want to visit the Peak District, Chatsworth etc, and I would add that the staff were lovely.
