I recently stayed three nights at Ella Green cottages with my soon (13) and we had a lovely experience. The cozy cottages are nestled in the heart of nature, surrounded by lush greenery, which gave it a serene and peaceful jungle atmosphere with birds and small monkeys playing around. The cottages themselves were cozy and comfortable, with the necessary amenities to make the stay comfortable. We enjoyed the delicious home-cooked breakfast each morning. Pancakes, toast, fresh fruits, omelets and various traditional Sri Lankan foods. The host was very friendly and welcoming and went out of their way to make os feel comfortable and ensure that our stay was enjoyable. Overall, I highly recommend Ella Green cottages to anyone looking for a peaceful retreat amidst nature. I have to admit, we absolutely loved our stay here. The people were so accommodating and friendly. The location is on a steep hill, most cars won't make it up but walking down and up takes about 5 minutes or a tub tuk can get you there. The view is amazing and worth the walk. It's so close to the main road and close to main attractions (about 20min walk) the room was comfortable, warm, clean. The breakfast was some fruit, with eggs made according to your choice, some toast and they even let us try the coconut pancakes which were so yummy. Everything was amazing. We were so happy there and will definitely stay there again.

This hotel trades off the views which are undoubtedly quite lovely. My room was clean, and bed very comfortable. Overall, this is all very acceptable and the staff are excessively helpful and attentive which can't be faulted. The location is very good albeit up a steep hill from the main street thronging with restaurants. There are some challenges that would, otherwise, make this a luxury experience... selecting TV channels on the two remotes is clunky; there is no chair in the room other than a beanbag, so lounging on the bed is the only option; there's no luggage stand, so leaving open luggage on the floor is not ideal with occasional creepy crawlies around; the light switch is not within reach of the bed; the hot water for the shower never gets beyond tepid which is ok given the hot weather; shower gel and soap is limited to one small plastic bottle and a tiny hand soap which doesn't compare to modern luxury hotels offering refillable shower and hand gel; drinking water is limited to two small bottles during your stay unless you ask for more (they are very accommodating). So, while this independent hotel is lovely and welcoming, and a cut above most local options in Ella, it's not quite a polished luxury experience if that's what you're expecting. Overall I'd recommend Hotel Onrock as a great Ella option though.

Based around the types of accomadation in Ella this small 4 roomed boutique hotel offered a fabulous view and excellent attentive service . A special call out to the manager for all his support and help with tips and trips. On this he recommended a tuk tuk driver to help organise your sightseeing who we wholly recommend who is professional and reasonably priced. Given the terrain it is too far to walk to the centre, easily accessible via tuk tuk. Food is amazing and would recommend the chicken stew.

We have stayed in a family room for one night on a busy long weekend & wished we could stay longer there. With the narrow approach road & parking, which is common to the Ella area, we had doubts , but the owner Mr Manjula & his staff were attentive & had solutions to the comfort of every guest with no hazzle. Food was very tasty & served on time & though the place was full we were welcome any time with good sevice even at short notice. Room with Beddings & Bath were clean & nice and had enough space. View from the room balcony of Ella rock was pleasing & with greenery around, the birds were a plenty with their songs. Though it was a short stay, with their little input from staff we could use the time well & visited the surrounding attractions & it was time well spent. All in all we really enjoyed our stay & so a big Thank you to Rock side Inn.

This was the best hotel we stayed in in Sri Lanka over our 2 weeks. The room and views were simply unbeatable. The breakfast the best we had! Lovely pool area and the spa massage was 10/10! Could not have wished for a better stay. Only wish we could have stayed longer. Staff service was top tier and an example to everyone in the tourism sector! Thank you
