Amazing night in Baddeck at the Inverary ! From the moment we checked in until the following morning when we left, we were treated to a fantastic night at a fantastic resort. Amazing check in staff and what a room ! The room in the main building was absolutely perfect! We decided to have dinner in the pub, fantastic service by Joy, great food, perfect atmosphere. Overall a fantastic experience!

This is a very old and tired “resort”. We were in a king suit that had not been updated in eons. The room had a musty smell. Rust and mold in the bathroom. The mattress was lumpy and uncomfortable. Also, no curtains/shades on the windows so no privacy there. The first night in we ate at the restaurant in the main lodge- not the friendliest server, did not go back. However, the next morning went to the lakeside restaurant and service was much much better! Even went back in the evening for a drink and the people were so nice. Outside there was a bonfire. So, the two stars are for lakeside staff and bonfire. Otherwise it would have been none. We ended up checking out a day early.

Rooms/cottages are so dated. Showers have gross curtains. Very sporadic internet and tv. Maid service every three days…. Front desk doesnt care about any issues After travelling the canot trail there were many better options to stay. More up to date and better locations on the water Needs a major renovation and staff Training

Disappointing. We booked one night in a “cottage suite”, basing our expectations on the website photo that showed a leather club chair and ottoman, mission-style furnishings, and a fireplace. Our suite - #30 “Iona” - had none of those things. Instead we got 1980s Holiday Inn surplus furnishings, a stale cigarette odour, and a worn out bathroom. On the plus side, the room was quiet, and I would say it was adequately clean but clearly well overdue for refurbishing. And again, not even close to what is shown on the website. I mentioned this when checking out, and the staff seemed to be familiar with this type of complaint. The location is very good. Right on the water in Baddeck, close to the Bell historic site, Cabot Trail, and so on. The main lodge is brand new and beautiful, making the contrast when checking into the dingy room all that more dramatic. The only reason I rated two stars rather than one was the live entertainment (and food and service) in the pub. The Monday night singer - Rob Maclean - is an absolute gem. One of the best live performers I’ve ever had the pleasure to see and hear. The food, atmosphere, and service was good, but Rob was great. In short, I’d find somewhere else to stay in Baddeck, but make sure I got to Inverary on Monday night for dinner, drinks, and some great live music.

We were unlucky enough to stay in the Argyle Lodge, a relic from the 1990s. A pretty vile, musty smell overcomes you on entry, we think from the aircon unit that likely needs its filter changed. The room is dark, drab and dated with the centrepiece being a pretty horrible fridge that makes a noise all night. The bathroom is hideous yellow and feels very grubby, not helped by the dated shower curtain. As it was raining we thought we’d check out the spa facilities but very quickly realised it was nothing more than a pool (hot tubs seem to only operate on the weekend). We couldn’t find any changing room or locker and given dressing gowns were not provided in the room, we couldn’t figure out how to actually use it, so gave up. On the plus side, we had a nice glass of wine in the Lakeside restaurant and a decent meal in the main Lodge where the serving staff were pleasant. We checked out having only stayed one night of our scheduled two, which meant we didn’t have to endure the no house keeping until second night policy. I’m sure there might be some refurbished rooms on the resort (we seen them when we booked), but alas luck was not on our side. There appears to be much better accommodation options in Baddeck, so don’t make the same miserable mistake that we did here.

I had googled the rooms before I arrived and they looked lovely, however, on arrival the room I was allocated was more like a motel. My room was very basic, the 2 entry doors opened different ways and ended up with my foot trapped in the screen door which has a very hard closure on it. I ate in both the narrow bar and lakeside restaurant, both were very nice. Service was great, as were the staff. Breakfast was not enjoy, very hard fruit which was not properly ripe, and no microwave for the porridge. I was told you just add hot water! However, they did put it in the microwave when asked. I would not stay here again, even though I had a great view.

We stayed one night, checking in around dinner time and leaving very early the next morning due to a tight travel schedule. As a result, we didn’t have time to explore the resort. Our room in the main lodge was clean, quiet and comfortable. We slept well. From what I gather, the main lodge rooms are more updated than rooms in some of the other buildings on the property. The property appears to be popular with tour groups. The resort served our purposes of getting a good night’s rest. If staying longer, I might explore other options in the area that have more charm. For dinner, we grabbed a quick bite to eat in the bar area of the main lodge. Food was good. Our server was excellent.

We stayed for one night in a double room in the Main Lodge (we had previously stayed here 7 years earlier) with our family (2 adults, 2 children). The room was renovated, beautiful and very comfortable. I get the sense that the rooms in the other buildings may be older, and not renovated yet though. Check-in and check-out was easy. There is a bar and casual restaurant on the main floor as well (first come, first serve), which gets quite busy. The kids enjoyed the indoor pool. The grounds of the property are beautiful and it is closely located to everything in town. They even brought out marshmallows and sticks to the firepit at night so the kids could roast marshmallows, which was a really nice touch. Our one complaint was that after making reservations at the lakefront restaurant, we found out at dinner time that they don't offer a children's menu. And the person I spoke to didn't seem very keen to welcome children there either. I thought this was odd for a hotel restaurant, which was half empty. It looked like a nice place, but not over the top fancy, and they also have a large, more casual patio where we would have been happy to be seated with the kids. It was disappointing since we were hoping for a nice seafood dinner, but I couldn't justify spending $25 for a burger for each kid. We ended up getting take-out pizza since we were all starving and the other restaurant in the Main Lodge was packed. I really don't think it would be difficult to have 2 kids options to better accommodate families. Overall, it was a nice stay and we really liked our room.

We didn't stay at the resort, but we stayed a 10 minute walk away. The lakefront restaurant was recommended and we are so glad it was. We were greeted and welcomed by a friendly lady , who seated us. KAITLYN our waitress was amazing, kind, informative and attentive. Our drinks never empty . And dirty dishes taken promptly. The food was absolutely amazing , we had mussels, shrimp and seafood linguine which had tons of scallops, lobster and shrimp. The food was fresh and amazing, portions were more than ample. This gem of a restaurant was exactly what we were hoping to find here .... so worth the 18 hour drive from Orangeville Ontario,
