We were travelling to the Black Forest region to discover some ancestral family towns. Bad Herenalb was in a good location to be close to the places we we wanted to see. Our stay at the Kull wound up being an absolute delight. The staff was extremely helpful in every aspect, especially with navigating some of the lesser marked roadways. The rooms are a bit small, by U.S. standards, but probably what comes to mind in a quaint older European hotel, narrow balcony and all. The breakfast area has large windows and is brightly painted, making the breakfast spread served all the more enjoyable. The hotel has off street parking, and is located just off the main drive in town so traffic noise isn't a problem at all. An excellent value. I'll return there.

Well maintained traditional hotel in the centre of town with good access to shops and park. Host is very friendly and helpful. Good breakfast. Remote check-in by phone at unmanned reception, but all worked well. Car parking right outside the door.

The hotel is very conveniently located opposite the spa. From the higher floors you can look out over the beautiful BuGa park. The rooms are simply furnished and very quiet. The interior of the building has a lot of "century flair".

A friend of mine had booked a room in the Hotel Kull for a month, which he only used to store his things because he had to travel on business. When he was back in the area after about a week, we wanted to go on a night hike in Bad Herrenalb to see the sunrise on the summit. We wanted to stop briefly at the hotel to get something to eat from his room and have a short rest (30 minutes). So we went to his room and about 15 minutes later there was a knock on the door. When he opened it, a very rude employee was standing there who immediately snapped at us. After loudly defending his position, he wanted to see my ID card, which he kept and then disappeared with. The backpack was packed - so I left the hotel and waited outside while my friend tried to ask the employee for my ID card. He didn't want to give it back and threw my friend in front of the door, which he then locked so that we couldn't enter the hotel again. So we set off on our hike through the woods of Herrenalb. Our paths separated in the meantime, so I didn't pass the hotel on the way back. I had asked my friend to pick up my ID card from reception, but it was not given to him. My friend went away on business the following day and left all his things there, as he had booked the room for another 10 days. A week later, when he was back, we drove to the hotel together again to pick up his things and my ID card. When I went to reception and said who I was and that I wanted to pick up my ID card, I was immediately rudely told that I had no right to be in the hotel. Incidentally, the entire staff is very unfriendly and disrespectful! Instead of giving me my ID card, I was presented with a bill for almost €100, which was supposedly for an overnight stay. My entire stay in the hotel, however, amounted to less than 30 minutes! At this point, reception invoked the house rules, which state that you are not allowed to take unregistered guests into your room. On the other hand, you are obviously allowed to charge an unregistered short-term guest for less than 30 minutes a €100 bill because you go to the room with the hotel guest to pack food in a backpack. After a short conversation, I was again thrown out of the hotel and was not even allowed to wait for my friend on the hotel grounds. I was standing in front of the door when the receptionist came outside to throw me off the property. It was clearly a mistake to go to the room to pack something to eat and drink for the hike.
