Find the Cheap Austintown Hotels

This used to be our place to stop when we traveled between Michigan and Pennsylvania. This time, I asked the lady checking us in what happened to gas prices in Ohio (they skyrocketed since December). She advised me it was Trumps fault. When asked how, since he's been out of office for almost 3 years, there was no response. Keep politics out when in the service industry. While this was annoying, this review was not based on the comment. There were numerous dirty dishes and bags of garbage in the hallway. The halls themselves did not look like they were vacuumed in quite some time, and the tile floor had sticky stuff on it. The shades our room were also damaged.

The manager on duty today was absolutely heartless and rude. She isn't trying to work with me an won't even give me a key. To get back into my room if I had to leave to get the money.

I will start with the only positive thing about our stay at this hotel, and it is that the staff were very pleasant and helpful. Also, the desk chair in the room had arms which is excellent for assisting mobility-impaired people to rise out of it. Now to the reason of the poor rating I gave this hotel; while it is an older hotel, maintenance issues apparently have been neglected. 1) There was a very musty odor throughout the place; in the lobby, the hallway, and in our room. 2) While our room was generally clean, there was a napkin and a part of an opened sugar packet left on the floor of the room. 3) The toilet paper holder had fallen off the wall and broke. 4) The toilet seat was loose and wobbly (not good in a handicapped room). 5) The smoke detector in the ceiling was missing the casing and wires were just hanging down from the ceiling. While this is a non-smoking hotel and we are not smokers, it was a bit disconcerting to see the wires hanging down. 6) There was an electrical outlet near one side of the bed that was out from the wall, exposing the wires. If a small child was in this room, this would be a enormous safety concern. 7) Our room was a mobility-accessible room but had a tub-shower, so my husband couldn't use the shower. I realize that this combination is ADA compliant as long as it has grab bars and a seat; however, I found the tub floor to be slippery and with no grab bars outside the shower, difficult to use. 8) Also regarding accessibility for mobility-impaired guests, there was a large easy chair blocking the access between the bathroom and the bed. My husband could not navigate past this chair until I moved it. It was rather heavy for me to move, but I did. The room itself was quite small so did not need such a large easy chair in it. 9) The only elevator in the hotel broke late in the evening and the hotel couldn't get anyone to try and fix it until later the following morning. We were on the third floor and my husband could not maneuver down the stairs by himself. Happily, two employees came and helped him down all the way to the lobby. They offered to help me with the luggage also; I was to just call the front desk when ready. However, when I called, no one answered, so after about 30 rings, I lugged our things down the three flights by myself. Not easy for a 78 year old woman.

I never stepped foot into my room nor received a refund. Highly angry.

We just stayed at this property for 2 nights. We were put in a room on the second floor, because there weren’t any available on the first floor. But, the parking lot was consistently empty. The noise, all day, all night was stupid! Housekeeping (a.k.a. the owners), started cleaning, knocking on doors, at 7am! Stupid! The room…where do I begin. The bathtub was disgusting, we were in town to attend an event, so I had to take a shower. Joke was on me. If you wanted hot water, it came out in a dribble. I took a very fast cold shower. Then I went to use the hair dryer. Jokes on me again! Didn’t work. No one at the desk to help. The furniture is sad and outdated. Very uncomfortable. But here’s the biggest deal.. when I checked in, I had to “initial” all these mandates… —- no smoking, if caught, $200 fine —-no candles, if caught, $20 fine —-no pets, if caught…blah, blah, blah… I think we should bring our own mandates that the business should initial. ——if room is dirty, the room is free ——if things are not working, the room is free ——if you are not fully satisfied, the room is free. Just do yourself a favor, don’t stay here.

-not a great cooling system: noisy, seemed inefficient -Room shabby: 2 corners of lighted bathroom mirror chipped, one of three lights above sink missing -2 holes (cigarette burns?) at top of top sheet! -In the a.m. key card didn't work (& I was on 3rd floor with no elevator) -tell the city & county administrators that when taxes/fees reach 15.5% they are telling visitors they don’t really care about attracting patrons

We recently stayed a few nights for a family get together nearby. The hotel was clean and had plenty of other businesses and restaurants nearby to meet nearly any need. Breakfast was a small but adequate selection, but cooked fresh, tasty, and restocked often. The staff was friendly and helpful. Overall, our stay was quiet and the room was comfortable. One night, we had a very loud small group jumping around and slamming doors as they moved between rooms until nearly midnight, calls to the front desk were not acted upon. I typically spend 30-40 nights a year in hotels for business travel, usually choosing more upmarket brands. This location was better than most any Hampton Inn I've used in the past. I'd book it again.
