This place is literally one of the most gorgeous spots in the world. You are secluded on a white sand paradise with exceptional sea life, no noise, limited guests, and the most wonderful snorkel, dive, and fishing guides. And five star food. It’s absolute paradise. BUT. And this is a big but. The bugs. They are horrible. And we did our research and read other reviews of travelers saying the same thing so we even came prepared. We brought extra strength deet spray and an actual mosquito repelling device. The issue is nothing worked. And the “no see ums” are everywhere. On the beach, in the sand, in your room, at dinner. We did everything the hotel told us to do, including wearing oil and the bug sprayed and nothing worked. The 2nd night I was up all night itching and having a panic attack. This was our “babymoon” so we were beyond excited for the experience but we ended up actually cutting the trip short because we were both covered, head to toe, in bites. And me being pregnant, it just wasn’t a smart idea for me to continue to stay and get eaten alive. The resort only refunded us one of the two nights we lost, which was a bummer. We clearly would not have cut our vacation short otherwise but we had no choice! So long story short, if bugs don’t bother you, this is absolute paradise and a must visit. But if you’re sensitive, you’ll want to pick another island (because it happens at other resorts on the same island FYI)
