Some of the reviews I read had me doubting our choice of hotel for our three days in Anchorage. My husband and I are happy that we stayed at this hotel. The room we were given was spacious and the bed was very comfortable. I wish the bathroom had more counter space and breakfast wasn't one of the better hotel breakfasts we've enjoyed, but the hotel is charming and unique. It was clean and the front desk staff were personable. I would recommend this hotel.

Terri met us at our taxi door and welcomed us as our host. She was so much help and we thank her for telling us which Brew Pup was the best. We also dined at her second choice to prove Terri had them in right order. We rode a local well informed tour on the trolley that starts around the corner at the visitor center. Great ticket agents on the sidewalk in front.

From the moment we walked in until we checked out, all six of us were so impressed. We got into town very early and stopped by the hotel for a lunch recommendation. They immediately told us to unload our bags and even though our rooms were not ready, she said she would get our luggage into our room as soon as they were ready. Her lunch recommendation was great and sure enough when we returned our bags were in the room. The beds were super comfortable and the hotel was beautiful. Breakfast in the morning was great as well.

Good hotel in an excellent location. Comfortable bed, pillows and room. There was lots of space but the bathroom is small. For the money I would expect a modern bathroom. Breakfast had plenty of items but missing fresh fruits. Space in the breakfast area is limited during peak time. Coffee was OK. It is a very quiet hotel. All the people here are friendly and professional.

The service was excellent but the hotel is old and very dated, the rooms are tiny (ok for 2 but cramped for a family of 4). It’s on a busy intersection and the cars and train honking kept us all awake. Lovely staff. Seems very very expensive for what it is.

Even if it’s old, it is very nice. A very cozy bedding. The rooms are quite big - you are at the best location in Anchorage walkable all the attractions all the gifts shops, the staff is very friendly. They have a little breakfast. Kitchen in the rooms

My husband and I loved our short stay here last month. The property is absolutely delightful. Great breakfast in a stunning bar. Elegant decor. Walking distance to the water, shops, restaurants, breweries, etc. The staff is exemplary! Hubby had a slight cold, and Terri offered a cough drop as we set out on a day tour. We mentioned to her that the drop really helped, and when we picked up our luggage to head to the airport, she had put a bag of the drops on his bag for the LONG ride home! Such a nice gesture. Her example trickles down to the entire team. They go above and beyond to provide a welcoming, comfortable and pleasant stay. A+ for service!

After unexpectedly needing to spend the night in Anchorage, my partner thought this hotel looked historic and worth checking out. I loved its character, with glittering chandeliers in the lobby and an old-timey saloon-type bar/dining area (that looked decommissioned at the time of our visit). It was a nice change from the cookie cutter modern hotel experience. We got room 201, a corner room overlooking several main streets. Therein lay the problem of noise, which apparently in downtown Anchorage (as in many other cities!) revving one's engine as loudly as possible down the main drag on a Friday night is the thing to do. There was absolutely no apparent noise reduction somehow in that room, despite closing the windows and drapes and turning the free-standing fan on high. I could hear actual conversations from the street below as people left bars all throughout the 1am - 3am hours, so the roaring vehicle engines sounded like they were headed directly towards flattening us in our beds. However - I now see this perpetual sleep disturbance as a possible blessing in disguise as I felt that a slight ghostly encounter happened for the first time in my life! Around 3am I felt the comforter around my shoulders shift noticeably, and I tuned in to see if my partner was moving - he was not. I did not think that was a ghost, but then - being newly alert by the comforter shift, I heard in the room, a very distinct, loud squeaking that was like two large pieces of styrofoam rubbing against each other. I heard it clearly and loudly until I fully sat up in bed and looked in the direction of the desk, and it stopped. We had to be out of the hotel at 4:30 am for our next flight, and I asked the very friendly and helpful desk attendant (Timothy or Thomas maybe?) if there were any reports of strange happenings, and he said that this hotel is known for this, and that the 2nd floor has the most reported unexplained activity. So, overall, despite not getting a wink of sleep, I really enjoyed my experience at this hotel, and my partner said he slept great, so that was a good outcome for a non-ghost enthused guest as well.
