Ambleside Townhouse

I like the breakfast and the receptionist is very friendly. If the quilt cover can be softer, I feel better.

This hotel is in a great location, the staff are friendly and engaging. The reason I have not rated this higher is that our room was an ok size but the space was badly organised and dark and located in a section of the hotel that is accessible by a side door in the car park- which is fine but was a surprise. Also the room we booked was not the room we got, which didn’t really matter as we were only staying 2 nights but nevertheless that shouldn’t happen. Our room however was very clean and I liked the wallpaper wall depicting local views. I’m not a fan of hotel rooms that have limited window light but sometimes this is unavoidable given hilly locations (and Ambleside, like most of the Lake District is hilly ) but then why not put some lamps on a corner table or a standard light in a corner to compensate? I think this is good value for money, I loved the cooked breakfast, but I was disappointed by the room, it’s the first time in many years I’ve stayed somewhere that doesn’t supply shampoo, I had to wash my hair in a mixture of hand soap and bath gel, not ideal after a day trekking about the wet and windy countryside.

Good location for stroll into Ambleside with ample parking. Excellent staff, welcoming & very friendly. Excellent quality breakfast menu well cooked & presented. Clean comfortable room & good quality bed. Would benefit from a little additional cloths storage for a multi night stay.

Excellent location, lovely clean room and friendly staff. Just lacking the 5 stars due to the fact there was not much choice for breakfast for Vegans. Just vegan pancakes and maple syrup (and they were just two small ones) or avocado on toast. I was hoping there might have been a vegan cooked breakfast having advised the property in advance two of our family were vegan. Granted at least there was something we could eat and they did have oat milk and an alternative to butter. Great to also have parking on sight.

Very comfy room, a nice size, and modern bathroom in a historic building, good breakfast and helpful friendly staff. Excellent central location with car parking on site - but spaces for larger cars limited. Within walking distance of excellent restaurants and shops. Ambleside a lovely town surrounded by magnificent hills.
